He did get rinsed multiple times early doors but after Baily was subbed, Cucu was excellent both offensively and defensively. It's not VAR's fault you're sh*t and 9th (Although I thought Chelsea deserved to win against Villa - who were awful throughout)

Although Chelsea seemed ‘down’ after Villa scored those two goals they never gave up. Starting with the 2nd-half Chelsea turned in the performance: from steady defending ( what a difference with Thiago leading the defense) to constant offensive pressure. Even the timid Badieshile played well . Madueke , Palmer and Jackson interchanging and clicking on offense; and the midfield controlling play in the 2nd half. Only var ruined a beautiful evening for Chelsea and their fans . BTW even the TV game announcers mentioned that the referee was right near the plays when Disasi scored . Even the Jackson equalizer was not waived for offside by the linesman - but by var . Great comeback by Chelsea. Let’s continue with this positive development for the rest of this season !!

As a general observation, you don’t find him hanging around in the opposition half all game, he will go and defend if necessary. He’s probably the only player other than Gallagher who I see have real passion, though sometimes he doesn’t channel that the right way, like the penalty incident.
@@hugsnbubbles tbh the issue is partly that even when he is in a more defensive position he tends to not really defend properly, look at the first villa goal, way too casual. However, that’s the least of our troubles really and Madueke is starting to grow on me a bit. Was pretty good pressing from the front for our first goal as well.
I think it is better to start Mudryk from the bench till the end of the season. If need he can be loaned next season to gain confidence. Pochetino needs to go at the end of the season because of the season overall. Thomas Tuchel needs to come to Chelsea and get elite striker.

This is a young squad and I hate to say it ,but IT IS a project even pep wouldn't be able to finish this squad higher than 5/6th . We need experienced players and a better coach in the summer and we can easily find top 4 next season. These players have shown passion and signs of improvement ( except for mudryk ,but I hope its just the pressure on him .)

For starters, feel better soon George! My only knock on Poch today is he should've made the Casadei-for-Mudryk sub earlier on... Even though we had hardly attacking options off the benchm I was calling for it at halftime because Mudryk was just that bad. What was there to lose? And halftime would've been the time to do it because Poch could've rearranged the midfielders and attackers however he saw fit to make it work best and discuss strategy with the players. If Casadei couldn't find the pitch sooner in a game like this when the outcome was still to be decided and we had so few sub options, what did we recall him from his loan for? On a separate note, it was the right decision to bring back the winner... I noticed the foul live and didn't even get excited when the ball went in because I knew it would be reviewed, and it honestly would've been an injustice if they didn't bring it back. I can't get too mad at him, because we'd probably have half the points we do if it weren't for him lol, but what's gonna haunt me more about this game is Palmer not burying that chance a few mins earlier from that close in... he had so much space between the keeper and the post

I enjoyed the analysis George. Too often this year, Chelsea channels have only talked about the negatives, forgetting the positives from papachinos first year. At least this season we can see something from this team and we know where we need some strengthening. We don't have a top level goalkeeper because Petrovich conceded too many goals at the near post so he can be our cup goalkeeper. We clearly need one serious centre back,we don't have a good left back that is healthy at least,our left wing options aren't good with Mudryk still learning and Sterling being too selfish and a striker so Jackson can learn how to finish while watching from the bench. That's five key transfers to be made and loads of players to let go as well!

This game proves the players are still playing for the coach and believe his ideas. Everything he’s been saying about there age is maybe true and not an excuse. On the var, it was a foul for me but at the same time no villa player reacted for a foul. Especially Carlos, he tried to get to the ball still. Which shows he didn’t think it was a foul. I think var have to start looking at on field reactions too. Ultimately have to take the positives from the game.

VAR was a disgrace disallowing that last goal. Badiashille uses his body to shield the ball which you should be able to do. He doesn’t push Diego Carlos over or trip him he just uses his body.

Well I was more than 100% sure that this will be a demolishing bu Villa,but guess what,with the choices we've got for a line-up,they made Villa looks like championship side(despite those 2 goals) they won my heart today no matter what! Should have won. Jackson's touch and finish let us down. More clinical 2nd half than the first. Conceded easily on a deflected goal and the second by poor tracking. But kept composure. Best change was playing three at the back and Cucurella pushed inside and middle. Mudryk was isolated and free out left but no service. Coach should have made a change on Mudryk sooner. Yellow for Pochettino for a better line-up and tactics. Could have gotten green if the subs for Mudryk and Jackson were made sooner. Red for Mudryk for not doing much offensively or defensively. Lonesome, solitary figure out wide left. Yellow for Cucurella for defending, poor passing. Played better as an inside left midfielder. Green for Gallagher for his hard work and wonderful goal. Greenish/yellow for Madueke for his goal and sometimes pressing and defensive work. Green for Caicedo in marshalling the troops both in defense and attack.
Bad call on Cucu mate. He had no support on the left side from Mudryk, and was not to blame for the own goal. We know Chelsea are work in progress and Pooch is the man with maybe the toughest job in the EPL. End of season will see some of the players moved on, but we have a world class back four to come back from injury which will help a lot. New goal keeper and a striker we will challenge top 4
Honestly I don't understand this stick on Cucu. I watch that guy play, his vision, passing accuracy and understanding of the game is too notch. Yes, his defending is not immaculate but he is a fantastic player who can develop into a world class player with the right coaching. For me, he is one of the immensely gifted player in Chelsea today. But the clueless owners have marked him for sales.

I think there's to much hype around chelsea, most ppl are saying get rid of poch but we really need to give him at least another season then we can make a fair judgement on the manager. The team is getting better they are trying to fight for the cause, arsenal game will be a bump in the road but we don't have our strongest team, most of the player are in the early 20's, not enough experience, not enough leaders. We always want success but the days of Roman are over we need to trust in the process. I will say the club must be run better though, multiple injures, the board have many problems but we as fan want to win matches and only the team can do this. Consistency will be key in the long term
