  • barty brings variety to the game. Thats why she tames all others on tour so easily. Many players just hit bang bang kind of shots, but its the precision and placement that wins games like barty does.

    • She has the most complete game in the current crop of women's tennis but I still think her topspin double handed BH is a weakness especially when she is pressed for errors. If there was any women that could serve and volley and attack her weaker BH, I'm sure that Ash wouldn't be so dominant. But if Ash could improve that shot like her FH then nothing would stop her.

    • Hi again, she has two Grand Slam titles as 25 yrs old, compared to Swiatek 20 yrs with one Grand Slam title. But now it looks pretty bleak against Collins. So maybe Ashley will have her third Grand Slam title secured. Anyway, Swiatek started only now to train the strength under the new coach and staff and lowered the speed of the first serve from 190 km/h to 175 km/h. We will see where he is at Ashley’s age, also she is 10 cm taller. In live WTA ranking no.4 now.

Should have known better, especially how they treated Djokovic. How many day matches did she play in the sweltering heat. None that I can recall. Most of her matches were at night. I bet if she had to play in the heat during the day she would have been lost. That’s why most of the good players like Azarenka, Krejcikova , Halep and Cornet are out of the tournament. Big props to Collins for hanging in there when the heat got to her. She deserves to win the title. Definitely, will be rooting for her. • Here's the thing: Anyone who thinks Keys has even a puncher's chance with an in-form Barty is deluding themselves. She's got the Federer-like ability to disassemble a near-pure bruiser effortlessly. I'm sure Madison felt almost helpless; it's understandable. After all, she was taken behind the woodshed by a vastly superior player. This will live in Keys' head, too: Her only win came five years ago, before Barty had rounded into the player she is and could still be intimidated by superior power. No longer. Madison will likely never beat Ashleigh again.

    • Madison has shown patience up until this match. She was more willing to hit with more margin against the previous opponents. As soon as she was pressured by Ash, she resorted back to bashing everything.

  • One thing i learnt from this is Barty are just better at defend and neutralize the shot and waiting for chance to attack. Brilliant!

    @ianbuick8946@ianbuick89462 жыл бұрын
    • Agreed. Though she is a chess player. On defense she tries to make it difficult to opponent. The danger of waiting for the "opening when rival is punching" is that the punch might get you. That is, if a hard hitter found the corners, angles and lines...Ash would be in trouble. If they just try to hit hard 'just because', then she'll find the openings (as a way out of trouble first, to then strike). I can relate to that style, that's why she's my role model now.

  • Great to see Keys smiling at the end there. I'm not a fan but she's always been a fighter, a talent, and a courteous player on the circuit! Respect! As for Barty...what can one say? She is the most intelligent backcourt player I've seen in awhile on the woman's side. She has the forehand, the slice, the determination, and now the serve to backup a highly intelligent game. I'd be surprised if Collins can defeat her.
