  • unpopular opinion : painstakingly 3D scan every piece of sheetmetal used to build every gen of Skyline, build dies for each, and start producing brand new Skylines, both in LHD and RHD. I love these cars; it's a shame most of us will never get a chance at buying one new.

  • It's totaly mindblowing, deeply hearttouching. Makes me proud to own Japanese car. Even if not anywhere close to GT-R, but for me, my '91 Prelude means the same as Larry's R34 to himself. Domo arugato for this magical journey. Showing JDM spirit, giving hope. I'll never stop driving...

    @Yreq@Yreq5 ай бұрын
    • The Prelude is a great car and had a lot of similarities to the GTR when it came to its place in Hondas lineup. It was the first production car to have 4 wheel steering in 1987, it was one of Hondas best handling cars despite its weight due to the 4WS, Super Handling (torque vectoring diff) a high output motor with excellent steering and braking. It’s style starting with the 3rd gen was always popular and they still look good today, especially the 5th gen. There was even a rumor of an AWD prelude for racing.

    • @@vickturorteezmakes me think about Tommyfyeah really getting into his stride recently with restoring skylines. He’s the only one putting that level of detail into them in the US at that level and nows a good time to get a car over there. By the time someone else starts the cars and parts will be too expensive or unobtainable. There really is a small window where restoring these cars is something you don’t have to be a millionaire to do.

The prices mentioned are in a different league though, the R32-R34 Skyline families, has really left behind the average person, who might one day own one of these legendary machines. But everyone should be very thankful that places like Garage Yoshida exist, keeping these cars going and on the roads, hopefully to be driven and not just in storage, for a long time yet.

  • Funny how you start thinking about this type of car like people rather than machines. You buy one, it may be rusted here and there, some things don't work anymore, this particular model is famous for this problem or that default, but it doesn't matter. It's like: "Ok, this is my GT-R now, I accept it with it's qualities and its shortcomings. Maybe there's a reason I got this one and not another". It almost becomes like a friend. And by the way, given the amount of generic car content on KZhead, I feel lucky Hagerty exists. Thanks, really ^^

  • Such passion in Japan for the magnifcent cars they have produced over the years I came across very early having been fortunate enough to own a number of Japanese legends starting way back when with a 1965 Mazda 1000 Coupe a 1 litre sohc with an engine that looked exactly like the later Mazda Luce 1600 and 1800 sedans styled by Bertone a beautiful classic worth finding and restoring including the rare Sports SS versions my 1000 Coupe ran a full instrumented dash dual 2 barrel downdraft carburettors and with front Disk Brakes as well, Quite amazing for 1965 That was followed by in no particular order by a Genuine TE 27 Levin, an AE86, a Ex Nissan Motorsport PA10 Fuel injected Violet Stanza Coupe I bought from Nissan Motorsports Driver and legend George Fury and prior to George owning it it was the Rally liason car of Nissan Motorsport Australia boss Howard Marsden who previously was Race Team boss for Ford Australia. Adding to the Nissan theme a Group 2 Nissan Stanza Rally car full ex works suspension front and rear works Wide Track rear axle four wheel vented works spec disks, Works front Struts with Pillowball upper mounts Works steering gear and what is now a very expensive proposition to find a Genuine Nissan FIA Cylinder Head these alone these days will owe you a minimum of $10,000.00 and need full overhaul on top of that and almost Forgot Nissan Factory spec Alumimum Radiator. Add to that mix a Genuine ex works Nissan Datsun PB210 Rally Car that even Nissan do not have an example of in their Museum driven by Sheka Mehta the PB210 is like a 120 Y with a longer nose different tail lights etc and a 1600 CC variant of the LZ 14 Formula Pacific twin cam engine. Almost forgot Ex Peter Williamson and after that Alexandra Surplice TEC 37 Levin driven aat Bathurst by the son of Margaret Thatcher British Prime Minster during the Falklands War Mark Thatcher, Sadly this got sold to a mate to reshell his rollover damaged KE 35 TE 37 replica and this original Australian Group C touring car was lost to Circuit Racing as six months after that suddenly Group C touring Cars became eligible for Historic Racing but no replicas only Original Cars with History permitted. So looking Back I consider myself blessed with what I have owned and that does not touch on Alfa Romeos, Sunbeam Tigers, MGA Twin Cams, assorted Fiats ,Simcas, Escort Twin Cam, Ford Capri RS 3100 etc
