Cadeaux at the Chateau: GIFTS ON THE TERRACE!
We all gather on the chateau's terrace to open stunning and thoughtful gifts at Lalande. Once again we're struck by your kindness and generosity...
This is the first Cadeaux at the Chateau to be filmed by the lovely Steve, who is volunteering at Lalande to help us with this charity channel. It was his first ever time filming a video and we had some teething problems with some of the focusing, but that's all been fixed for next week. The bonus is that he's done a beautiful job, his camera lens is a huge improvement on my usual iPhone filming, and he's a joy to hang out with!!!
In 'Cadeaux at the Chateau', all of the inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande gather together to open beautiful gifts that people have sent from all over the world. All of the monetisation from these videos will be donated to a different charity each month.
I used to show the gifts as part of 'The Chateau Diaries' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new channel. Every week we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching 'The Chateau Diaries' gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us 💖💖💖

@@jacquelinereynolds2934 the travel restrictions currently mean that Percy can *perhaps* fly to France. Not the other way around, unfortunately. He was still trying to figure out what his options were with his French visa.

I sent one for Tomaz but I don't know if he got it before he left. It's still in the stacks. They are about 2 months behind, except for Stephanie's birthday. (I know that the boxes arrived, because Stephanie opened the one for her and Isabelle on her birthday. :)
🎀You must be from Oz🐨. Yes, it is sweet when the others are surprised🎁. 💐@SMG: You're a very generous soul. Kind of you to think of the gang. 📒Ideally, Nati or her deputy would carefully screen notes & pkgs in advance. Also journal results & review each week. 🚛Needed to put things in storage. Numbered every box, assigned an applicable house/room code for contents, & listed each item in a journal. That system was key in my being able to later retrieve items quickly. If I removed something, I noted that in the journal too. 🎁Cadeau could be handled in a similar manner. (1a) Start to #Number📦 all incoming items w/a big black sharpie pen on the side (where anyone can easily see it when stacked). (1b) Set aside all smaller packets or envelopes to be placed in a larger box. (Sorted in numbered order, so easy to retrieve.) (2a) As each box/pkg is received, enter that corresponding box or pkg number in a journal or spiral binder. Next to it, jot down: date received, sender, sender location, all recipients, general overview of contents (food/bev, books, garden, housewares, fabric, clothing, ornaments, etc.). Also any additional notes, like if it is meant for a special occasion or holiday, so it could be readied at the right time. (2b) Use person's Ist name & last initial. (Maybe write initials of recipient or create a code for every resident & worker as they arrive). Be consistent. (2c) Write this legend in the front of the journal or spiral notebook. Leave open pages to expand list as needed. (3) In case someone visits, returns unexpectedly, or for an individual whose departure is imminent, they could refer to journal & easily pull things out of order if necessary. ~~~~~~~~~~ (1) Once a box has premiered on Cadeau @ the Chateau, you can check ✔ the journal entry & enter the video date. (2a) 🗳Create an area of storage bins for family, residents &/or visitors|volunteers that were absent, but will return. Add presents to these bins as necessary until the person rejoins & opens said bounty of gifts. (2b) Before weekly video, check these bins for presents of returned residents/ visitors/volunteers. (3) 📮Forward those gifts meant for volunteers|visitors who will not meant to return to the Chateau for the foreseeable future. Maybe a system like this could help the Chateau organize arrivals. ☮💛🌼
Flights are now open from South Africa now so maybe Percy can Come soon
They normally winter in SA because its warmer so I think Isabelle will go there

@@beehill1 Please explain the Dyson? I am a new viewer to Stephanie’s channels and have fallen in love with her and her fabulous chateau life. I saw a video where she curled her hair with cologne and strips of cloth. I presume the Dyson is a hair curling appliance of some sort? Side note: My mother purchased a Dyson vacuum cleaner. It worked very well but without an on/off switch it was difficult for both of us to use. We gave it away and bought a different one.

What a lovely gift opening session? Well, they all are really to be honest! I love how Phillip sat there in Stephanie's wonderful hat as if it was a perfectly normal everyday thing to do. He looked magnificent and very dashing. I also love how appreciative everyone is with their gifts and you can tell they mean it. Nothing is opened and then pushed to one side without a second glance after a quick 'thank you'. It's lovely how everything is looked at and shared with the viewers. People are not donating though, they are gifting to someone as a thank you and should be allowed to do so if they wish. Perhaps they donate elsewhere. But surely a choice for the individual. Sorry, I respectfully disagree. First, the 🏰Chateau⛲ is massive. It will take a long time before every square inch is fully utilized. 😍 Secondly, gift giving is a love language for some folks. Ppl demonstrate their affection & high regard for another person by choosing what they believe is the perfect item that will bring them joy. Or, something simply to make the recipient's lives or jobs easier or better. All done in hopes to bless the person who has blessed them. 🌐 If they so choose, it is a right & privilege for Lalander's around the globe to gift Stephanie or her entourage. 🕵️♂️ Lastly, giving a gift doesn't rob anyone. The inhabitants of the Chateau should be able to accept this largess or blessing totally guilt-free. The ppl giving are not required to feel guilty about gift giving or explain their personal philanthropic pursuits either. 📺 As the others have stated, watching these videos will create funds that Stephanie will donate to a worthy cause. She could use those funds for a rain day fund or project, but she has chosen to pass on any profits for charity. Feel free to replay the full video again & again in order to build up the donation funds.

He's become quite fascinated with the process of the analysis of paint in establishing provenace and the restoration process. So in planning our grade 12 curriculum (January 2021 start) we are going to do his chemistry course on Art. Love homeschooling... never know where their interests will lead.
@@lakelili Wonderful, I was homeschooled and I loved it. I had a tutor though, not my parents teaching me, but I loved my tutor and I was so much more prepared for 'self guided learning' when University arrived then others who had been in actual school curriculum.

Stephanie, I just watched a video on Coco Chanel’s Paris apartment and noticed several fabric screens in different rooms. Could Selmar maybe make you some frames to use your toile de jouy fabric on one? It could be moved around to different rooms to change things from time to time. I think it would be nice.
