    • The price of the bag comes down to the value of the brand. There's no doubt LV uses fine materials for its bags, but that accounts for a marginal amount of the overall selling price. It gets the majority of its price from how people perceive LV, which is accomplished through marketing of exclusivity, luxury, and identity with the rich and famous (such as Chris Wu and Kanye West).

I know leather working fyi. The purse does use nice leather and the stitching is perfect. But outside of that, it's still just a normal purse. LV is a perfect example of people buying the name more than they are buying the product itself. But she likes it, so whatever. I don't get it. I've never been the type to buy something for its name recognition. Quality and function is my prime desire. I have a man purse hand made in Morocco....paid $120. That is worth every penny. Super high quality, durable, yet soft leather, cool looking interior, great stitching, durable high quality hardware.....it's a purse I can keep for a life time and will always look good. • I normally buy "2nd hand" LV bags but only classic Monogram or classic Damier collections. It's not a waste of money because after few years if you are tired of your bags, you can sell them and get your money back. I normally ended up making 2-5 percent extra. Don't buy brand new, because it will devalue 25% - 50% once you walk out the store.

  • Perfect demonstration of quality a product and marketing. The price has nothing much to do with its manufacturing, its more about the 'Market" and credibility. People with more money than they know what to do with will pay what ever it takes, the trick is being one of those suppliers. Personally I feel its an obscene waste of money but so are diamonds which are controlled in a similar way by De Beers.
