When it comes to High-wind, I will not drive in wind over 40 miles an hour unless I am at least 70,000 pounds, 75-80,000 in 50 plus mph. And even then it’s a judgment call. I hate wind just as much as I hate snow and ice. You super truckers can say whatever you want, my 2.75 million safe miles speak for themselves !

I used to live in Southern California in the 90s. I was on my home with my girlfriend from a Vegas weekend on my motorcycle and the winds had picked up at the highest point on the highway around Big Bear mountains that I had to lean more than 45 degrees at times and suddenly no wind for a couple of seconds and then on again. It was the scariest ride of my life. I said God if you get us home in one piece I’ll never get on a bike again. I lied to him, of course and upgraded to a new Goldwing in the early 2000s. I’m sure I’ll have some explaining to do when I cross into the land of the dead.

Hi Mike, lovely trip with the wind and dust. I've driven through a few dust storms here in Australia, the worst was when it rained towards the end of it, muddy windscreen and wipers not much fun. Regarding light vehicles driving so close behind you can't see them until suddenly they're beside you, happens over here too! At least when it's sunny you can see their shadow but I dislike them being so close as you don't know what they might do next. Keep safe and keep the shiny side up. Peace brother !

White knuckle driving, Yup! I've done that, too! I thought I was going to flip in Wyoming, but came through safely! Just have to be careful. Motorhomes are light and high --- they catch the wind very well, like a sail boat. A heavy "Hemphill Brothers" bus at 66,000 lbs. is required, if challenging the wind in a RV. Used to drive a rig with a permanent load that weighed over 80,000 with full tanks, we always weighed the truck before we fueled so we knew how many gallons of fuel to put in to be legal. Have a dump truck that has a legal gross of 33,000 lbs, came out of the quarry one time grossing 40,000....short way to go took it there. Drove in a high head on wind in Victorville, CA, couldn't get the truck over 30 mph the wind was pushing so hard, was going west bound. In VA going south , had a bad cross wind, 79000 lbs, trailer tracked 3 ft to one side because of the wind. Not a fun way to drive.
