Had a guy a week ago saying his Ram 2500 with airbags has no problem pulling his Alliance Valor 40V13. That's 44 ft long 3000lb hitch weight and 14988 lb empty. Yes those people are out there.
I pass them and pray I get off the interstate before traffic backs up
This guy needs a DRW truck, this is the reason there are accidents.
Probably does tow it fine for an experienced operator. A RAM 2500 can have a 3900 payload.
Guaranteed he pulls it just fine. Definitely overweight, but pulling is the least of his worries.
He just meant that it would move when he presses the fuel pedal.
I'm still waiting for what makes it "Special"?
I like this on! For a small fifth wheel it has a nice living room. Like the windows. The bathroom was nice and spacious. The bedroom is nice. Like it nice rv JD!
I also watch a few KZheadrs that represent general rv, and when I compare their sale prices compared to other dealerships prices, there is a huge difference. A good amount of their campers/motorhomes can be anywhere from 25% to 35% off msrp depending on what kind of rv it is. Anyway back to this camper, I really like it, I love that it has a sleeper sofa and the two recliners! Nice kitchen too!😊
I wouldn't try to tow this with my truck (F-150 , ~1900 pound cargo capacity, 10,500 pound towing capacity), as I'm not sold on 5th wheel towing with a half ton in general. but the unicorn half tons you speak of (low-spec trim, long bed, single cab, max payload/max tow, large engine, short rear end, etc.) actually have payload capacities of over 3000 pounds (in a half-ton truck). Those rare trucks would have the payload capacity to tow this trailer. The 1600-1900 pound payload range is actually fairly common for middle-of-the-road half tons with the most common configurations. Mine is an XLT (302A IIRC), supercrew, short bed, 4WD, 3.5L Eco , A10, 3.55 gears, regular factory tow package (not max tow), and it doesn't have the HD payload package either. Basically, a super-common configuration, but my payload capacity is just a few pounds under 1900 pounds. Yeah, there are some high spec/trim trucks with 1200-1500 pound payload capacities, but those aren't as common (though much more common than the aforementioned max tow/max payload stripper truck with the 3k pound payload.)
When presenting these, everyone brags about all the tall windows. I say get rid of the tall windows and put storage above every place that storage could go. You don’t have to have that big window to see outside!
What's with the blue led lights? What's wrong with white lights?
I live in Dallas, this RV show was NOT listed in this years RV shows. It must have been for media folks only.
the kitchen is small, but despite that, it looks extremely usable. the bathroom looks usable too
I really like thus unit. Pretty much everything I would be looking for in a short 5th whl.
I like this unit. Just not the blue lights.
What’s wrong with human bug lights? 😅
for guys that have never owned a 2500 f250 etc they are a totally different animal.Brakes frame and even the rear hitch is massive compared to a 1500.
JD, you forget the people who use I goose ball set up. I bought a 1 ton truck per your videos that I usually agree with.
Another well done video!! Thank you sir!! The half ton towing info is always great. I have a ram1500 ecodiesel and would not attempt to tow this
Cool
It’s cute
Wow, $46K, thats more than I paid for my 3660SUITE!
No comments about the entertainment center. Was there storage behind it?
When looking for a smaller, couple’s 5th wheel this would fit the bill but the stove is a bother for me. There is no room in that little nook. I get it; it’s a small 5th wheel and the fridge is next to it but that stove looks like it was shoved into a phone booth.
Do you use a Cpap machine as you often talk about a good spot for one? I also don’t drink coffee so those “good” spots don’t apply to me.
whats up how is the denali treating u
I have to ask why is there so many nobs on 3 burner stove BTBRV? I understand 4 but not 5… 😅
The stove is to close to the walls.
I have a 2010 2500 HD king cab ,long wheel base , 4 door ,gas engine, WILL IT PULL IT?
I have about 1,800lbs of payload left available after having all passengers and hitch in the truck. Doesn’t that mean I’d have enough payload for this type of fifth wheel? My truck is a 2004 2500 Cummins.
The numbers will sneak up on you and you won't even realize it. I have a Shasta 25RE with a 2018 Chevy 2500 with a 4.10 rear end and I still am only about 700 pounds shy of my gvwr fully loaded.. (gas, people etc) These companies really need to stop putting Half Ton on these units.
"reasonable price". What exactly do you mean?
Salesman will say its half ton towable
I like this model but the road mode STINKS
A Ram 2500 is the exact same truck as a 3500 without the HO Cummins. The age old argument rears its ugly head again. Nothing more than a federal regulation to keep the truck in a cheaper tax bracket. I’m sure it pulls it just fine. Without getting on a soap box, here is the truth, according to the nhtsa, 57% of rvs are over 1 or more of their weight guidelines, yet accident statistics are almost statistically insignificant per capita when considering this. The reasons accidents happen is due to “improper loading”, not “over loading”. I don’t care what tow vehicle you have, if you put all the weight in the back, you’ll eventually crash. I have 25,000 towing miles on a 2500 Cummins and tow 44’ with 16,800 gvw just shy of 3k on the pin. Been all over the country including the passes with 0 issues. Drives safer than my bumper pull at 7900 lbs. but I can honestly say I am not one of those 57%, I’m all within my weight limits per the specs of my truck. Now if they would just put a truck stop on I70 between Denver and Grand Junction, that would be nice!
I’m pretty sure a Tacoma could tow this.
Theres a lot of high trim level 3/4 ton diesel pickups that do not have the payload capacity for that light trailer.
That's precisely why I bought a Ram 2500 with low trim and the Hemi. Folks don't realize the diesel takes away 8 or 9 hundred pounds of cargo capacity. Bells and whistles are nice but the weigh a lot too.
@WTLowery82 guy I work for has a loaded up Ram 2500 limited with cummins. 1995lb payload on it.
Just about ideal for most people who just want to use it on the weekends. Only real complaint is that you end up sitting 30 feet away from the TV lol
From watching these videos I don't see the point in buying a fithwhele . Unless you already have something that can pull it. You are going to spend a lot of money otherwise.
Not impressed too much money for a “couples” trailer that has no real WOW factor. 20lb cans seriously…
