I love it but I’m always wanting to try new things which means I need the supplies for these new things... once I go to get the supplies I get ideas for multiple different projects I want to do with this new skill I’m trying.. so, after spending a decent amount of money on supplies I’ll make a bunch of stuff and then lose interest. Now I have a bunch of supplies I’m determined to use at some point. 😓😅

  • With almost 2,000 comments, someone else may have already mentioned this tip to speed up the printing process. In Illustrator, set your Artboard to slightly larger than your image. The default is paper size, but you can make it any size you want. Make sure your whole image fits on the artboard. When you print, there will be a section on the screen called Options. In that section, click on the Scaling drop down menu, then choose Tile Full Pages. Illustrator will automatically break your image to print on multiple pages, and it will show you a preview of how many pages it will take. Hope this helped!

    • A projector might help too. Instead of printing the stencil and cutting out pieces, project the image onto the fabric and trace

      @PutRandomNameHere@PutRandomNameHere3 жыл бұрын
    • Here’s another way too: if you have a large TV and a laptop with Screen Mirroring abilities, pull up the image on your laptop, screen mirror it to your TV, and then place your frame against your TV. That way, it’ll be easier to trace your image if you don’t have a projector!

    • @@madalinamicusan9737 I'm sorry, but I am not able to duplicate the issue, so I'm not sure what would cause it. A quick google seems to indicate that it might be a printer driver conflict. Maybe try selecting a different printer (or print to PDF) to see if it persists. Otherwise, maybe ask in the r/AdobeIllustrator subreddit.

I am just sitting here being impressed by the fact that you can both know all of these techniques well enough that it looks like muscle memory, and still have the ability to slow down and actually explain how you do it. Because learning how to do is one thing, and learning how to teach is another. Also, the result is beautiful.

  • This was such a detailed tutorial on how to punch needle from the very start to the end. It was cool see how you pull different elements from things that inspire you to make one really cool cohesive piece of art. I've never seen some do such a large punch needling piece! When I learned how to do it years ago everyone I knew used very fine needles. A lot of people would use literal syringes with a hole made in the side of the point. You end up needing much thinner yarn, and I don't know if you *need* to use tightly woven fabric for it, but at the time most people would look for the most tightly woven fabric they could find. It was often similar fabric to a linen tea towel. I think it was partly because people would embroider designs on the edges of kitchen towel and such, but also because it was *supposed to* hold your yarn better. Kinda makes sense if you're putting it through the wash I guess. You can get very nice fine detail that way, but dear lorrrd, that combination of things made learning how to do it quite frustrating. I'm really excited to try punch needle embroidery again with the tips you mentioned about what type of fabric works well. When I initially saw the thickness of the needle I was like "😲 how tf is that going to stay in the fabric", but it makes so much sense how you explained it. Many thanks! I really appreciate the video.
