There where some players who were outstanding and a joy to watch, Zidane was another artist. Maradona, Ronaldo 9, Ronaldinho, CR7, Messi, Zidane...as a defender myself, I also had fun watching almost perfect defenders like Maldini or Lahm. But even Maldini couldn't stop Prime Ronaldo 9 and I doubt there was or will be any defender able to stop those magicians mentioned above in their prime. Maldini called Maradona and Ronaldo 9 the toughest players he had to play against, Maradona was 'great' and Ronaldo 'a nightmare'. But also Ronaldo had respect for Maldini, calling him also his toughest opponent. Ronaldinho in his prime maybe had no opponents, just victims. ^^

We can all name a few players we think are the best in the history of the sport. We might disagree and turn it into a looong discussion. But honestly? Ronaldinho was technically the most gifted one. He treats the ball with such intimacy and ease that it makes you think you can grab the ball right now and do that perfect elastico yourself. It was a pleasure to see him play.

He is my all-time fav player. What makes him so strong is that he doesn't fall but dribbles further and further through. Players that fall easily are stoppable by a tackling. Plus his exceptional speed and ball control. Sometimes he thought much faster than his teammates so his passes failed because they didn't react. Same with Messi. He doesn't fall while dribbling and that's why he's coming through so often
Exactly most players nowadays will simply let themselves fall but instead he just kept going, absolutely unstoppable the man was a machine

I'm sure he made millions of kids love football, he alone increases the popularity of the game and was the most entertaining player in the history imo, he entertains AND wins, wich is one of the hardest thing in football. So true, my dads team is the Real Madrid but Back then he enjoyed more watching Barcelona games. 8 years old me asked “dad why do you watch those games our team is the Real Madrid” he said look at ronaldinho he is an spectacle and just in that moment ronaldinho started making a lot of passes looking at the opposed direction I was like wtf jajaja. Next day playing football at my school I was just trying to imitate him his no-looking assists and “elásticas” miss those days.

That's a level of popularity and entertainment Ronaldinho wasn't even close to achieve. And even before Pelé, the number 10 was given to the best player of the team.
