  • Le Tiss is the only ex-player who gives me as big a smile on my face listening to him talk as he did watching him play, a total legend and great man.

  • Jeff so happy that you have made the transition to this format. As an Aussie Pom who spent a long time in the UK back in the day, you made winter weekends so special.

  • Matt Le Tissier, what an unbelievable player! Rocking up to training eating a McDonald's breakfast, not taking training all that swriously, wasnt in the greatest shape but none of it stopped him turning it on and lighting up the league with audacious skill and outrageous goals. Without a doubt one if my favourite players of all time

  • Great to see the gradual media “rehabilitation” of Le Tiss after he dared speak truths he wasn’t supposed to utter.

  • I tell this story to LeTissier fans because it`s true and it gives an insight into his down-to-earth personality. Matt sent me a Southampton rosette and an autographed pic of himself within a type of team program magazine thanking me for my support after hearing my positive comments about his play from some Southampton managment brass who had come to Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada and were part of a tour group I took across a glacier. I told them I couldn't understand why he wasn't given a fair shake for the World Cup squad and to pass along that he has a big fan working in the Cdn Rocky Mtns. Couple months later an envelope showed up in my mailbox. I returned the favour by sending him a Montreal Canadiens hockey t-shirt the year they won the Stanley Cup. Cool huh?

  • One of the most gifted footballers I've ever seen Le Tiss single handedly kept Southampton up so many times. If you had to have someone take and score a penalty to save your life I'm picking Le Tiss.

  • We all forget, Pearce also took a penalty in the semi against Germany at euro 96. People only remember the one against Spain because of the celebration, but the one against Germany required more bottle because of the occasion and opposition.
