The source code as well as early alpha footage of Grand theft auto 6 was leaked back in September of 2022 where a hacker known as TeapotUberhacker managed to steal gigabytes worth of valuable data from Rockstar games.

Rockstar really is the most disconnected game company to ever exist. They really don't give two shits about fans and their "support" on glitches and crashes is laughable

HALF LIFE 2 , INCLUDING: episode 1 and 2, portal 1, deathmatch, counter strike source, day of defeat source and half life source has received this treatment. the success depends strongly on the company not copy striking the project. the valve source engine leak is technically illegal but for some reason valve never copy strikes anything ever, in a huge contrast with other companies. that allows the open source half life 2 to be public on github with no license. the exposure of the project to large amounts of developers to fix bugs depends on how aggressively the company copy strikes the code. leaked code does not come from decompilation like reverse engineered code does, so the copyright holder has a stronger attack if they choose to use it. this is all the quintessential perfect example of why US copyright law is both useless and destructive in the modern world and should be abolished
The mod you were thinking of for GTA IV is called DXVK. DXVK already works for GTA V (This is how playing it under Linux is possible). All it does it swap DirectX for Vulkan and because GTA V DirectX is already optimised, there is no performance benefit for V. For IV, there is because their old version/implementation of DirectX 9 is atrocious. If you are going to play GTA IV again I'd suggest FusionFix, Fusion Overloader, DXVK, Console Visuals mod, Various Fixes mod, Radio Restoration mod.
The issue you're having is that the hitching happens because of the engine limitations. I would advise you to limit it around 120 FPS in your main pc and see what happens
Yeah I thought about that too, unfortunately the problem with that is that I run a monitor that goes up to 240fps on my main PC as I play alot of shooter games and like the instant response, if I set a low max refresh on GTA5 Il have an unplayable amount of input lag lol.
@@Pyrerealmgaming Use msi afterburner to lock your fps, the most reliable fps I found was 144fps. 188fps is the absolute engine limit, it can't go over that and thats where the stuttering starts.

@@Pyrerealmgamingif your monitor supports Gsync or Freesync enable that. It will adjust your refreshrate depending on your framerate. Most monitors also allow you to decrease your refreshrate manually in display settings so check that too
the only thing i want to see the source code for gta5 used for, is finally giving the people the remastered GTA 3, SA and VC that rockstar failed to provide, imagine running those older games in the gta5 engine and graphics!
That wouldnt be a remaster, that would class as a remake, I think even right this instant its possible, its just no one is really gunna have the recources to do all the work required for such a feat!

I've been slowly working on bringing EVERY update into SP through modding, tricky process trying to recreate them 100 percent. Honestly, the source code will help with this SOOO MUCH, this game will live after GTA6 is released for these reasons. All the Lore-friendly car mods as well, my pack is over 1000+ new vehicles that fit into the world, no real brands.
This is awesome, I hate seeing real car brands in gta, can't wait to see what you get going.
on the topic of Vulkan and performance, Vulkan is better than the old DirectX 11 GTA V uses, but not better then DirectX as a whole, the debate between DirectX 12 vs Vulkan has gone on for eons, so a port to DirectX12 could also be seen, which would bring other benefits like true raytracing

Not only that but although DirectX to Vulkan technology is better some games require additional setup when running them through Wine on Linux(granted GTA V doesnt have this issue but GTA V is also 10 fucking years old so.) All in all, Vulkan is better in the ways that actually matter. (now i wait for the angry "but muh windows runs it better" argument)

The performance of the game also sucks, like big time. I'm not talking about the game's fps being capped by your cpu's single core performance. It's possible to optimize gta V to run a lot better on lower end hardware like your average vega 8 integrated gpu on ryzen 4000/5000 should be able to run it much better than it does now. Optimization is just poor.

You need to increase your MSAA/resolution on your RTX 4090 PC to stay under 180fps and reduce CPU limitation. Also, on both of your setups your CPU is insufficient compared to your GPU for GTA Online. (4790k could be enough for other games but not for GTA Online)

to be fair i think the bot invasion came a bit before the source code leaks
if you check the source code, you can see that R* actually planned for it back then for PC. there are headtracking files, oculus references. control stuff i think. all is just not compiled in. so by recompiling someone could attempt to enable that code and check how it works. probably got scrapped for a reason, but the beginning is there
I think it will be amazing to see what this does to the modding and game dev community.
Couple of things to point out with this video - DirectX is not the "old rendering API" that Vulkan is made to replace. Most games are still targeting DirectX and even the most intensive games run comfortably in DirectX12. The main benefits of Vulkan are it being open-source and cross-platform which is what makes projects like DXVK possible. - DXVK for GTA 5 already exists. Infact, DXVK can be used for pretty much any game. It's made to be a drop-in replacement that translates D3D calls to Vulkan calls in real-time. It doesn't have to be specifically made and configured for each game.
One thing I would've liked was if we got the source code of Max Payne 3. It's gunplay is something that I wish Rockstar would use and improve upon in future titles or at least so other devs could use and improve for their own titles instead.
Insane how you didn’t bother mentioning the fact that modders can now find ways to make cheats as powerful as they can be, since they know the exact boundaries of what they can and can’t get away with.

And code they released now wont do much rockstar may made the current code incompatible to that old one. People need to stop panicking and realize rockstar already made a contingency plan for this and already enacted the plan to prevent this from happening.

I am interested if we can artifically add more ZoneTypes and bypass even more limits in dispatch.meta Vanilla doesn't let you do much, and Cpast's combat tweaks does help with allowing other vehicles to spawn and remove the need for law enforcement flag for vehicles by sacrificing their despawning thing but your still mostly limited Peds for example, you can ONLY have cops, swat or army to function. Speaking of that, i wonder if we can add more pedtypes aswell. Like imagine pedtypes with unique AI (idk if that can be done already)
oh yes, you can even rewrite it fully. The leak contains the full rage source and the c++ (+sanscript gamescripts)
@@andreasantaniello8318 yeah but i prefer adding onto it, Rockstar does outstanding job even on the internal mechanics so why rewrite it? Just extend onto it, altrough you won't be able to share it unlike any other mod since it uses illegal source code but i'd reckon nothing bad happens just to show screenshots/gameplay footage that it is possible as long you don't show the source code or mention it. I for example want to see if it's possible to give regular peds (civilians in this case) some of the behaviors of police but without being part of the wanted system just like what R* did with the army peds, as they are half civilian pedtype but also share the same AI as police.
There is already a lot you can do in dispatch.meta, nearly changing EVERYTHING. There are like 15 locations where you can switch up and change the spawn points and peds.
@@SeanOptimoa The game supports up to 4 jurisdictions (ZoneTypes). Default (which is the City, e.g where LSPD responds) Countryside (which is where LSSD/BCSO responds) Army Base (where small portion of the army responds, altrough scenario army peds can join chase too which basically where tanks come from) And there is unused 4th jurisdiction and that's about it.
@@wedoalittletrolling723 You can have about 20 different agencies spawn around the map with editing the popcycle the correct way. There are many small jurisdictions around the map. Edit - I make mods for GTA and have created a new traffic mod with tons of DLC added for new spawns.
GTA 5 stutters because the game engine has a cap of 188 FPS. modern PCs are trying to break that barrier, resulting in the game stuttering.
I think the graphics are fine. hb some new music, clothes, hairstyles and mostly.. manual shift option! ..jumping in a car with a manual shifter and esp cars that don't even have an auto option, like Viper/Banshee and..auto only. ..yeah. Inexplicable the lack, here. Superlame.
It has been far too easy to get this code as a remote qa... all it took was a devs credentials to be brute-forced and the hacker chose to attack the gta 6 team lead... he was smart as only leads have access to all up to date sourcecode. *It's a good day for modders indeed, however word to the wise I would strongly suggest waiting for GTA VI to release before releasing any mods using this code in anyway.*

DXVK is just an API compatibility layer, a tool It can be used with any game In fact, DXVK is the only way you can play demanding PC games on the phone with Windows emulator

on unofficial ports, porting to consoles requires proprietary 3rd party libraries
3:03 the reason is - your main pc is cpu bound, even when fps is fine it can cause stutters
You already can get vulkan with dxvk, and it doesnt guarantee better framerates. Vulkan doesnt really like fullscreen in some games and in other games itll use the crap out of your gpu and barely utilize your cpu at all resulting in 10fps at most
But doesn’t that mean they can shut the game server down completely as well if they have it
at 3:00 with my 3070 ti and R7 5800x I sometimes get a weird bug, where my game goes to 3 fps and completely unplayable, to me it seems modern hardware has a hard time running GTA V.
That hitching/stuttering you’re getting on your main pc is probably from GTA 5 running above 188 fps.

I promise that the source code is absolutely relevant. This is still the same engine they're using and all their modern physics tech, crowd tech, ragdolling, etc is built on this foundation. This is hugely beneficial to game programmers.

Yeah. The hacker was able to get both the source code for 5 along with builds of 6. He then tried to sell off both of them. Looks like the 5 source code finally made its way out. Either he sold it or he trusted the wrong person with it and they sold it. Looks like maybe it was the latter from what I'm seeing.

9900k with 4090 is terrible match tbh, that 4090 is severely bottlenecked by that i9, also if really want to bring that cpu to its knees try joining a public session with 20+ players, your fps will tank a lot bc of the game being hugely single threaded, on my friend's pc with 13900k and 4090 is still impossible to reach the engine limit of 188fps, he gets around 130-150fps in a full session, from the huge amount of testing my friend has done, 160fps is the highest you can go before the game starts to stutter bc being close to the engine limit

I find this whole negative attitude a bit misplaced. Try to take a step back from your online frustrations, and appreciate Rockstar for the amazing games they made. How incredibly fun GTA5 still is for example. I agree some aspects of online gaming are not great, but the nuance is completely gone in this video, just harsh bashing comments.

Sure, but the die hard fans usually would kill for this kind of access. This means that the life cycle of the game can be extended, but it would be by fans and for fans, and that could be a good thing. They could in theory do almost whatever they want now. The circumstances of how the code got leaked aren't exactly kosher, but it's out there, and it's only a matter of time before we start seeing some pretty wild stuff coming out Id at least keep an eye on it if you haven't already.
