“Your passion is for you, your purpose is for others. Your passion makes you happy. But when you use your passion to make a difference in someone else's life, that's a service, that's a purpose, and that's the hand. " [22:54]
“Being able to reflect and observe the different voices inside of us is a great place to start your self-awareness because the biggest challenge is that most of us don't know what we're listening to. Most of us don't even know that there is more than one voice inside of us.” [32:28]
“The highest form of empathy, love, and compassion is to meet people where they already are, rather than expecting them to change.” [50:49]

    • I'm 31, I do have a passion (writing poetry) but I've learned that no life is perfect. You do what you do with what you have. But you must have faith in yourself and listen to your gut, listen to your heart. Do not let doubt or fear take over. I have a serious stuttering condition and I'm 80% deaf. I'm still trying to find a fulfilling job and it took me the best part of my life to accept that I'm probably going to be single for life. The most important part of any journey is starting it. Wish you the best. You can do it!

    • @@gigliolabottasandez8037 Right now, I don't have a facebook page or website. I try to limit the amount of time I spend online and using social networks. I'm happier this way, without comparing my life to other's. I also stopped sharing the art I do (at least for now), and I stopped doing it because I was tired of doing it for the likes, just for impressing others at my own expense and at the expense of the joy that I had. That being said, I'm copiling a poetry book and I plan to publish it next year. I can translate of my poems for you. I wrote it almost 13 years ago but it's still one of my favorites (I'm portuguese, I write mainly in portuguese and I haven't been practicing my English that much, so pardon me for any error or mispelling). THE OTHERS THAT I AM I look outside and I see Indefinable figures. No concept can ever describe them, These are things that ascend To the plateau of impossibility. They are shadows, Shadows of light, Ethereal creations. They are what they are And what they are not And all the leftovers realities In this world, invisible. OCTOBER 2008 Wish you all the best that life has to offer! Don't lose faith. Hope you find whatever you're searching for. Sometimes, when we stop looking, the answer finds us!

You have transformed my life...am a 70 year old woman, Blessed with amazing good health, and YOU and your amazing work, and generosity, are guiding me on a miraculous new journey... Just know, RIGHT NOW, it's never too late to delve into your brain, to unlock a new self-awareness, to thirst for knowledge and understanding, and FIND IT!! Loved what Tom said about not thinking about death... I no longer look at my life in terms of "how many more years" I will live, but look at each day as an adventure, and consider how my interaction with others can add to their life, i.e. it has been such a wonderful surprise to feel the simple reaction of a stranger who responds to an unexpected smile, we are all so connected... So, with deep, heart-felt respect, thank you for what you are giving this world.. Rose

  • their conversations together are always so damn good, but I realized this because they're both very very active listeners. I feel that when you give time people to complete their thought and actually listen in between the lines of what the speaker is saying, is where we see that the conversation can propel forwards with not only meaning but great great impact. Hands down amazing.

At 18:00, I just offered him this perspective, one of the many nuggets Jay shared. "Detachment is not that you own nothing. Detachment is that nothing owns you." "To me, that summarizes detachment in a way it's not usually explained. Usually people see detachment as being away from everything. Actually the biggest detachment is being close to everything, and not letting it consume and own you."
