I will make good use of this sponsorship 😊
they are a fucking pain to cancel, had it a few years ago. If you lucky, theyll accept and email cancellation, but usually have to speak to snouty Glaswegian customer service. Beers are usually quite average too for “craft” beers.
Why do all of these beer companies make shitty old man beer. Make some fucking lager you cunts it's 2023, nobody actually likes craft beer they just think it's cool.
Do they ship to Belgium? I can't seem to find it on their website.
@@rickySPANish_ I like craft beer
If you drink every time Alex says "happy days", you will be unable to see more than 1/3 of an episode before you are not allowed to drive home😂
Was going to suggest that the team should call him "Monday Tuesday" from now on
Happy days
If you do this with etcetera you are drunk as a skunk and passing out
I do love these vids, always a great source of good entertainment 👌😂
Only surpassed by the etc. etc. count
Love Tom attitude to business. Here is the price fitted with vat for 1) the genuine land rover part Or if available AND of decent quality 2) a quality after market price These are the bits that are needed, and these are the parts that will improve the car, but not vital IMHO.
That is the benefit of going to a specialist independent. They take pride in their work and give you both options (if poss). I do love the Disco 3 and 4s.
@@martyp2138 I personally find the 4 a bit kinda "meh"
Golf mk5 gti, Golf mk2 Syncro country, Lotus Elise S2s, Lancia integrale Evo2. Not one comes out fixed. They actually are just ornaments in the service workshop for years
That's how all good workshops should behave. Been taking my Alfas to the same old bloke for 12 years - he's been in business for 40, and that's exactly how he (and his sons) operates. Has probably saved me thousands over the years, as much as anything because he knows the cars inside out and can identify problem - and fix it - at first go. I would never go to a dealer unless it was a new car that needed a warranty job.
Normally a autoalex episode without taylor isn't as good but I've got to say tom makes up for it
This is why we call them Disco 3 grand whenever they come into the workshop because they normally need that much to fix them 😂😂😂
are they an ongoing bottomless pit or would a decent investment have them sorted for a good while?
@@John_Wood_ They should be good for a while, there's usually something that needs fixing every year that'll cost a few hundred but over the past 50k miles (I'm at 200k) its been pretty low maintenance. They do go through brakes and tires pretty fast but that's expected from such a heavy car.
@@CarThings___ thanks for that.
Had my disco 4 pretty much the same as the disco 3 2 years cost me around 1000 pound in repairs not bad at all Just keep on Top and there fine
Most modern cars are expensive. It's whether the owner likes it enough.
Getting some major Art Attack vibes from Alex's look today, just waiting for him to bust out the paint
It's just that red jumper I think
😂😂😂😂 brilliant
haha deffo XD
Now I can't unsee this
Taylor would make such a good Head too.
I have had - and worked on - the same car for 8 years. And never, not once, have I ever got the car to a point where everything is fixed!
Same with my Polo my mums had it for the past 10 years and it's always had one or two small issues 🤣🤣but it's never had any major problems only minor things.
I think that’s only realistic with a Toyota.
Same
When everything is fixed it’s only a matter of hours before the dreaded bong!!!!
Saying that she’s a beast and I love it
Tom looks like an absolute giant in comparison...how tall is he? 5ft 11in?
Alex is 5'4" so you're probably about right
😂
I love how your crew has turned into a little top gear it's great
It’s a lot better than top gear
@@hoodwinker7932especially new top gear 🤮
Don’t forget to change the oil pump when you do the belts as they are prone to breaking and destroying the engine - modified pump is t expensive ask Tom when he does belts
Yeah. Surprised they never mentioned that tbh.
Just wanted to write it. Being a 2005 car, if it has the original, the top left idler will break, just matter of time.
Beer 52 & Wine 52 make it nearly impossible to leave, you have to call them and beg to cancel, they will still try and suspend it for a month or 2. Nice beer and wine bad practices
So i've ordered right but i have to now call them up to cancel right?
Just cancel the direct debit after putting on pause.
Bungal0w Ben Thank you for your message. Customers can call or email to cancel and we aim to make the process as efficient as possible while gathering valuable feedback on their experience so we can improve our product and service.
@@Beer52HQ as efficient for you to make money not for someone to cancel, it is a false claim that you can cancel 'anytime'. Phones are open bussines hours. You try and take money out my bank atleast once a week.
Tom killed me when he said "you're in striking distance"
If it’s saying you’re getting 36-37mpg I’d suggest the on board computer needs adding to the list of broken parts. Not a chance, not even down hill
Mine 2010 2.7 TDV6 is stuck at 23mpg 😃
My computer reads 37-38, actually getting around 28-29
You have to respect a man who's still rockin cargo shorts, in 2023, even when he says Range Rovers are reliable.
Anyone born before the 90’s still considers cargo shorts acceptable
@@LewisGardner187 And rightly so.😂
A very 90s fashion...which is exactly what the people are wearing these days. 90s fashion.
And what does one sport instead of the mighty cargo shorts?
@@WildCamper Nothing.
Tom is hang overed, heres a beer ad.
Tom seems like a great bloke hats off to him 🙌
Love the work Alex and team are doing! Introducing us to some epic people!
Great video alex and I have a bit of experience with discovery 3s and when something goes wrong it a bit of a pain to do
Always found LR parts online to be pretty good for parts when I had disco 3, Next day delivery is also a bonus. They offer aftermarket or oem parts
Love my disco 3, had it 5 years and it’s brilliant - does everything!!
LR Time have many videos about engine diagnosis, engine overhauls and body off work to remove the motor to replace a snapped crankshaft etc. They however love their LR Discoveries.
Alex - Pete’s paintwork looks fantastic but your exterior plastic trim is letting him down. You need some Gtechniq C4 (the big bottle) … probably two, just to be safe. Clean the plastic, dry it then apply the C4 and have a light pass with a microfibre cloth to take off the excess. Fantastic stuff.
My d3 is on 240000 miles and doesn’t skip a beat! Used daily as a work vehicle and family vehicle and I can’t fault it. Payed £1800 for it with it needing front arms and rear bushes. Now owes me around £2500 but I’d say it’s payed for itself over the 2 years I’ve owned it.
What a great guy you've found Alex for repairs to another JLR quality product. Don't take the mick, you're probably gonna need him again, great video to boot.
I'd like to see you do a video on a gen 4 Subaru legacy Spec B estate. whether it's just a test drive or adding it to the collection! Cheap + fast + practical + all wheel drive
Great video mate and finally some more merch coming 👏
Alex is a true master of negotiation 😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅 he should start his own master class 😂😂😂
Sold to Bms salvage for scrap £495 in April 2023. Reconditioned gearbox and New front prop shaft and half shaft 2019 £4500 5 of the glow plugs are wrecked Wiring on drivers side for fog lights etc are worn through to the copper wires. Rear parking brake shoes, passenger are u/s holding clip broke and wrecked shoes and rear inside of brake disc, also parking brake module broken, needs to be stripped and reset or replaced( not a wire pulled back ). Drivers rear lower control arm as a 1 inch deep cut ( angle grinder cut into it to replace the anti roll bar link that disintegrated when it fell off the axle stand, also both back plates on rear hubs nearly not existing. Had a new steering rack 2019 due to original splitting down the seam. Judder at 60mph going down hill usually around roseworthy dip in Cornwall stops if you pull over! How do I know it was my death trap I got rid off. Your welcome x
I can second this. It was, as you say, very well looked after until we knew it was coming to the end if it's safe life. Would have cost way more than it's worth to make it safe to drive.😢
This place is where everyone should take their Land Rovers/Jaguars. What an amazing team and owner 👍
Our disco is pretty much a twin to yours - 55 plate, same colour, same interior, also HSE, except we have the DVD player ;). We've spent a fair chunk when we first bought it to make it solid, new belts, water pump, oil pump
I remember driving exactly the same in 2011, low miles. I absolutely loved it and still say it's one of the best vehicles I've driven. I'm a mechanic and driven a lot.
I love when Tom retorts to the legally binding trade price. Bloody classic.
AutoAlex always a good laugh, thanks for the content 👍
I really like Tom and his boys. They're actually hilarious
I can't believe that you've got both a Jag and a Land Rover and haven't invited Garreth to have a look yet
Love seeing the videos mate well done
Thanks for another great video Alex, greeting from Denmark
Hi, Great Vid, Has with all vehicles, its down to the cost/quality of the part's been fitted, then the labor is the biggest cost ?
What Tom said about a well sorted Disco is spot on, They are such practical things when you look after them :-)
Bought one new in Ireland in 07 and had it for 9 years (reluctant sale). Mine had the detachable towbar but was subject to a recall - either have it deleted or they fitted the permanent one foc. Surely this would have been the same for the UK?
Thanks Alex for being such a gent at the Bathams tent IOMTT2023 and my selfie!
Worth checking if it’s had an upgraded oil pump while timing belts getting done, Don’t want that tensioner mounting point breaking off 🤢
Tom seems like a genuine fella!
I forgot how scary uk prices were. I live in Bulgaria and I have a 2000 LDV Convoy with the 2.5 di banana motor. 2nd hand fuel pump, lift pump, timing belt kit, water pump, steering belt, alternator belt, oil and filter, air and fuel filters, antifreeze... 300 quid. Yes I had to do the work but hey.. Next are the tie rods at a devastating 35 quid...
Alex making tom a rich man
Great vid as always...happy days....etc etc etc
Great Video as always ❤
Love this, Alex. On another note, more motorbike content, please !!!
I had same model but in Zambezi silver. Had all the same issues…. Just wait for the Glowplug problem and when that air suspension cylinder goes ‘BANG’ like mine did
2:01 Is that the Supercharged AJ16S that is going into the XJC? It looks totally amaze-balls!!!! 😍😍😍
Yes yes yes something to keep me entertained this weekend
Dude you're killing me, Kaža B says I have to do a shot every time you say Happy Days !!!
Bit of a shocker about detachable towbars. Have a factory one on a Q7. Audi says will pull 3500kg laden ?
Just ordered my first lot of beers thank you
I'd love that landy that's for sure! Need it in my life😂
Great video, Tom should join the team... Big Pete's going to mint in the end eh?
Get the work done, Give the underside the Lanoguard treatment and it's golden 👌
top garage that . very honest geezer
Love Taylor and Rory’s channel. 👍
I want to buy a discovery just to go see Tom he sounds like a real nice guy
Great engines that definitely don’t have weak camshafts or oil starvation issues. Some people not even getting 50k miles without a complete lemon engine. Definitely good engines. 🤣
Can't you replace only the centre bearing for the rear propshaft with OE ref TVB500360?
Why price for a replacement propshaft when he already said it looked relatively new. You can replace just the centre bearing. No need to replace the whole shaft. £30 ish pound for the bearing, 1 hour or 2 to replace. £150-£200 all in.
just started listening to the Car Throttle podcast ❤
I love watching Ur videos😊
Perhaps some reverse light bulbs too Alex :)
Alex out here looking like he's about to present an episode of Art Attack. ;)
....Happy days, damn I´m drunk now. Damn nice episode, Tom is a no-bullshit man, that is how I would like to be treated like as a customer.
Just replace the bearing on the driveshaft if it's the carrier. They do make them even if parts shops say they don't.
thanks for the free promo. I'm defo using this deal for free beers
“No no it’s rusted away “ 😂😂😂 love how Alex admitted he’s a short arse straight away 😂
really can't be arsed watching these videos when the adverts start after only a minute of watching!!
I have to say I quite enjoy working on land rover chassis items but well never tire of turning body off wngine work away😂
I have just learned why the bloke at the garage wrote "offside trackrod FKT" on my quote... THANKS ALEX
Mmmm beer and driving good combo
“Am I going to spend all of your two grand? Yeh, and a little bit more” 😂
We asked for more Tom. We got more Tom. More Tom please.
Alex you towed an s class with that 😂 You could have killed somebody 😅
He's going to have to relocate his business now 🤣🤣
alex in this car must feel like a kid in push trolley
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
Tom sounds like a solid guy quoting aftermarket as well as genuine prices plus he is only supplying good parts (wheel bearing for instance) - Lets face it, JLR make nothing except body and trim so why not
knew it, beer52, when I saw the insta post. have had them in the past, never had a problem with them (stopped as I don't drink that much and it backlogged....)
Always Polybush (the brand) for land rovers, we've still got bushes on vehicles that are 40 years old!! Been all around the world
Notification SQuad!🔥🔥🔥
Where i live Nairobi Kenya and Dar es Salaam Tanzania , these things are smokin around everywhere , so i,m particularly interested in these and even may add one to my small collection ,and looking at your 3grand Hack its got sweet fa wrong with it , it be a minter as opposed to some of these well abused African sheds 😂by the way how old is it those Brit plates dont tell me anything nowadays ! Well interestin mr Alex !
That is one mighty good bargain of a motor car, even with all those jobs done. Here in Spain you'd be looking at €20k+ for one of those. Look after it and it will last a very long time.
What’s better for daily driving. Towing and everything manual or auto?????
Hi I'm looking to buy a new daily driver under 1.5k and found two cars maybe could suit the preferences, one is a Mk1 Ford Focus from 2004 with a zetec 1.6 and the other is a Skoda Octavia Estate with a 1.9 TDI from 2002. Could you give me an advice on which you'd reckon would suit better for a daily driver, mainly how reliable it is on longer run. PS. Love your vids, keep up the great work!
Best thing is to look at the service history of both cars, if it has had regular maintenance and interval items on time
@@Rob-ii9gl thanks, I'll definitely keep that in mind
1.9TDI Octavia all the way man. Service it at the required intervals and it'll last you forever. They're excellent engines. My 1.9tdi can return 60-65mpg on a motorway journey.
The 1.9tdi is a robust engine, can be wound up to a higher hp than the hp that breaks the LR V6 crank
The "I'll do it for 15" guy 🤣🤣🤣
Hi, Between LR3 and LR4 which has better reliability and durability. appreciate your advise. thank you
Look up lr time - there are many, many hours of videos about this subject
“Oooh I lav maself a lan rover” - Always comes into my head for some reason no idea where I got it from. But yeah I love discos, DEFENDERS, standard Range Rovers (any gen from 1st till now), RR sports, especially 1st gen, and 1st gen evoques especially the most pointless, stupid, nonsensical convertible one. Back in 2012 my 1st car was gonna be a lovely 96 Disco I found for £600 until I saw the insurance costs for a 17 year old, at the time “student and voice actor”. Ended up with a leased a Hyundai i10 from my mom instead. :/ Not. Bad car but badly built at the time, the mirrors lost the adjustment within months and the mirror part would just fall down and need constant adjustment. What I really wanted was my moms old car I begged her not to scrap it in 09, it was a 1993 Purple Audi 100 Estate, I loved that car. Same with the one she replaced it with which was an 08 Estima imported from Japan recently scrapped due to f’innUles and replaced with some boring mid range Toyota… >\ I think I got distracted where was I? Oh yeah, love land rovers! Great vid, Alex!
Alex are you interested in a astra vxr cheap (arden blue) 😉
Those prices are really reasonable. I’d drive from stoke-on-Trent for that
Should have got a X5 pal 😂😂👍
Need a good land rover garage like this in Yorkshire
Any update vid on the M3 touring?
You can replace the prop shaft bearing, not a big job either.
listening to those prices, I'm happy I own a '05 Civic 😂
I had a Range Rover Sport based on the Disco 3. Hateful car. Never thought the air suspension was all that. Mine worked fine and after the initial novelty of going up and down, it wasn’t up to much. Every component on it was ludicrously expensive. LR centre we’re reasonable enough on prices but when it’s a few hundred quid for each drive shaft and gearboxes are known to go and is a body off job to change? No thanks. Glad to see the back of it.
This guy is a such a mechanic
