  • Hey Rhett, I'm happy that you've gotten the T.W.A.N.G project up and running! That being said, I would like to propose a joint venture between our foundations. I represent T-P.A.I.N, which is the Tone Paint Addiction Intervention Network. So far we have managed to rehabilitate and provide ongoing therapy and temporary housing assistance for a bunch of guys we found living in a dumpster in the alley behind the Murphy Lab. I look forward to working with you toward a better future for the tone obsessed. 🤘

  • Dang you, Rhett… !! How I’d LOOOOVE to be there blind testing all of these. Nothing better than immersing into an addictive fuzz tone, but man (goes without saying) is it subjective! You just know when you have what works under your fingers, and when it’s right… it’s REALLY right. Excellent comparison here, with gracious props to the good’ns! I tend to dig a fuzz that I can blend in to a plexi-ish broken clean “chunk”. One that may never leave my board, is the Benson Stonk Box… for its “colored boost” ability and coaxing some articulate “crying”bloom. Also super player dynamic. You can get it cookin, spitty…etc. but it’s magic (to me) lies in its overall pure versatility, BECAUSE of its dynamics. Cheers, Rhett. You’ve successfully injected G.A.S. Into my veins. Great video!!!

I’ve had one for a couple years as well do all since it’s got the modules you can swap out for different fuzz circuits along with an active 3 band eq and the footswitchable octave circuit. I like to use that for a similar thing to your eqd hoof reaper. Just throwing it out there for any others that might be curious about a bunch of different fuzz types with out breaking the bank. • So much food for thought... my first pedal as a kid was an orange/blue treadle Univox Super Fuzz. I sold it in '82 as I couldn't get it to make me sound like Pete Townshend; the Internet and DVD's would later show me that is THE pedal of Live at Leeds. I bought the Guyatone TZ2, but the rubber grommet is gone. Keeley made the Electric Mudd which is his version but a 4 knob for more control, but 6 Fairchild transistors gets octave fuzz and wacky beyond.... I just got a Tru-Fi ColorDriver, which is their update on the Coloursound Boost - with a master volume. sounds amazing into an overdrive or an amp that's breaking up. If you only have a clean amp, try putting an overdrive after your fuzz - much different sound that's usually better. Also have a Keeley Fuzz Head, but I need another Fuzz. We all do...

I would like to start the "What about this pedal" thread with my favorite one, the Maestro Fuzz-tone FZ+M That Gibson has recently reintroduced. • Wow, great video! Curious as to which one of these pedals or one you didn't list would most mimic the fuzz tone from the old Kustom 68-70 K200 A-4 model, on the amp its called a "Harmonic Clipper" that has the fuzz as used by John Fogerty, CCR? Very unique sound, the amp also has a "Selective Boost" much like frequencies you'd get from an old Fuzzwah pedal but its on a switch instead of the variable pedal. Man, if that pedal also had the same vibrato as the Kustom A-4 it would be the end all pedal, in my mind anyway, lol
