That's adorable. I've got this cat named Bones. When I found him he was literally starving 2 death...hense the name. Well last week he's outside my bedroom window crying which he's never done b4. So I come out 2 find he has this chipmunk baby. So I come out & Bones comes runnin over & brings me this baby. Not a scratch on him. So I'm feeding this chipmunk baby & yesterday I hear Bones again by my window. I come out & he brings my this bluebird baby. Turns out Bones had been protecting the bird from the neighbors dog. I found the nest & put the bird back & waited 2 make sure the parents took him back. So I guess the cat I rescued is paying it 4ward.
What a beautiful heart Bones has that is such a lovely story and even better experience for you and Bones. He really is unique, what a cutie 🥰
Aw, what a special cat you have. 💖
Ty...he's my 2nd rescue. The 1st rescue BugaBoo is my profile pic. Apparently there r little kitty hobo signs Food & Shelter this way. 4 some reason I didn't wanna get Bug fixed but my mom broke her leg & I had 2 go home a few days. When I got back my Ex Fiance & his buddy took MY cat & got him fixed. About 2 weeks later I found out he's an exotic breed called a Bombay, & the 1s with the orange eyes r more rare=more expensive. Which he has. Those kittens go for 2G. I coulda just choked my ex. How do u take some1 else's pet in for surgery u know the owner doesn't want?!?!
I wish I could post photos on here cuz I got a pic of the baby bird
? Bird Babies once fallen down would be rejected by their parents. They smell catlike. Also, why didn't you check on the chipmunk's Mom? A Cat bringing in prey animals, even alive, is a normal instinct. I doubt this Story.

They must trust their dog a lot, since dachshunds were literally bred to hunt badgers and rabbits in their holes lol
Yes that's true, I noticed that also!
I’ve owned dachshunds all my life and they’re kidding themselves if they think their dog won’t kill those bunnies.
@@donnajohnson5800 Yep, mine ended several rabbits lives over the years.
My dachshund would've never let those bunnies live.... good job Graham, good good boy
When I was a kid. Our Dachshund Boomer ( my parents were active duty USAF hence his name). The times we lived in the country and had live stock. He would go after anything and everything. The times we lived outside a city, Austin, Spokane. We would have several pet rabbits, even a rat or 2 that were mine. Boomer would eventually get them and eat them. He was a crazy dog. Even though it's been 28 years since he died from cancer. I still miss him, he was still a good dog.
When your breed was bred to hunt them, but you find them too adorable to kill. In all honesty, this is a very cute story.
Minus the fact rabbit mothers leave their nests alone for long periods of time so they more than likely stole these babies.
A wiener dog?
@@rogerwilson53 well if you saw a nest of baby rabbits that were abandoned (or whatever animal you like) wouldn't you take them?
@@Faith_2673 no you shouldn't, mother rabbits are supposed to hide their children from predators especially humans. She returns to the babies once the area is safe from any intruders. By messing with the shelter the mother had created for the babies, you jeopardize there lives and separate them from there mother. You should leave the buried home as if it was untouched and let the mother do her mothering.
@@elyceus bruh I live on a farm and have experienced many things. You know how you aren't supposed to help an animal give birth? Well sometimes you have to. Just like sometimes you have to help a rabbit

Love the quick kiss 😘 bye Graham gave Dash.
I know, I really wonder why they wouldn't keep the little guy that brought so much happiness to their own pet.
@@zohanele.d139 rabbits are high maintenance, very destructive pets when kept indoors. Not everyone has the space or time to take care of one. The owners made a very smart and responsible decision when they gave Dash up.
You can get pet rabbits and raise them just like cats. I have a friend that has cat and a rabbit. You can teach the rabbit to use the litter box and this rabbit is just like the cat it’s kind of weird but it’s really cute to see.
In most places it is illegal to keep a wild rabbit. House bunnies are a completely different species, they are domesticated and legal to keep. This bunny in the video is wild and cannot survive as a pet in most cases
Wanted to see them grow together
Look up the dog breed not a good idea. Sadly life is not a Disney movie.
@@simplesimon4374 dog breed has nothing to do with it. This is a domesticated dog. As far as we know dogs are capable of empathy and they show this all the time. This range of empathy is not limited by its breed and that is a shallow take.

Your amazing dog literally saved this bunny's life. Plus he offered the snuggling and affection this bunny needed to survive the loss of his mama. Tu for caring enough to help the bunny out. 💖
Hmm, it definitely didn’t save it, since it didn’t need saving, they were both safe in the hole, and one of them died after being taken out, mother rabbits leave their babies in a hole seperate from the one they live in, and they don’t visit very often, to avoid it getting the attention of predators.
@@NocturnalPyro And you know this how?? It is quite possible that the mother rabbit was actually dead as the rescuer said. Remember that one baby had already died. So there really wasn't anymore time to waste. The fatality rate for rabbits is quite high. Which is why they breed so rapidly, etc.. I remember as a child, my father was mowing the lawn, & he accidentally ran over a rabbits nest, killing the mother. We left the babies where they were, because they weren't newborns at this point. We gave them veggies to eat, etc, but I highly doubted that they survived. But 50 years ago, we weren't equipped to rescue wild animals like we are now a days. I understand that sometimes people make poor decisions to interfere in these types of situations, but sometimes they actually are saving their lives. You shouldn't be so judgemental, when you don't know for sure the entire situation. I still think the rescuer did the right thing under the circumstances.
@@stephanies7937 Hmm, I mean I don’t know for sure, but Rabbit mothers only come to the nest once a day, which is quite easy to miss. I don’t know, but I prolly would’ve saved them too.
@@stephanies7937 I dont wanna pop your bubble but its very, very unlikely and improbable that they helped these animals. Those are wild rabbit. And a dachshund. Dachshunde are bred to hunt for rabbits and badgers. They specialize in tracking their smell and open up their burrows. Thats why he was so fixated on the hole. You can see in the video that the dachshund dug up the den. There is a very plausible and likely chance that the dog killed the rabbit mother or chased her away. One of the rabbits also likely died from interference. Im not saying thats what happened but knowing the Dachshund and is genetic programming and unwavering instincts its much, much more likely the dog killed or chased away the parent rabbit and dug up the den. More often than not these videos are staged ever since people found out they can go effortlessly viral with it. Again, I cant prove it but there is no way in hell a Dachshund would be naturally friendly with rabbits.
@@lightup6751 Well, I must agree, that natural instinct is strong, but there are always exceptions. I will grant you that it is possible that what you are saying may be true. But I myself have always had cats as pets, as well as domesticated bunnies. I did have one jumbo sized cat of 16 lbs, who actually interacted gently w these rabbits. However, the smaller cat, a mere 8 lbs, had to be locked into the other room so as not to risk them being harmed. You never can tell w animals which way they will behave until the moment arrives. However, even so, I never left the large cat alone w the rabbits, I didn't want to press my luck...
“I made sure he had a bed” *literally Chinese food to go box* I love it
Just saying that protecting a child can be a paternal instinct too, and being a male dog would be more likely too. But what a cutie
But gender is a social construct, so why does it matter?
@@jasminehouston-burns1691 I dont believe so, but thats my opinion and my point is that fatherly instincts exist as well as motherly instincts.
@@jasminehouston-burns1691 Gender is not a social construct, men and women behave differently naturally regardless of if they're within our society or not. There is a reason men and women do not look the same or act the same. The chemistry of a man and the chemistry of a woman are not the same. The social constructs we have simply accentuate the natural differences that are already there.

When I was 13 I found 5 baby bunnies in the back yard. I raised them all but b4 I could start the process of releasing them into the wild, my evil stepmother took them from me and to this day I don't know what she did with them but I pray they survived. So because of that I still cry when I think about them and because I never got to say goodbye. I am 42 now but I still think about them from time to time. I still miss them! I had names for them all. Babs, Peter, George, Bugs and Jack. 🥺
Jennifer.., so sorry that old witch did that to you. When someone does something like this it does have a terrible impact on a child and you're proof it can go into adulthood. It's almost Halloween, maybe your evil stepmother will jump on her broom, fly away and get hit by 747!!:) I hate mean people that do awful things to children. Smile, you were a wonderful 13 year old!
Can I talk to your step mother? *Shotgun clicks* just a talk I swear
Your stepmom was a monster that's why
Can you ask her what she did with them now? Where was your dad in that? He should have stopped her.
Y’all angry with the mother, like y’all know the person was 13? A 13 year old cant really take care of 5 baby bunnies without help. Mind you the chance of the baby bunnies being able to live in the wild is low depending on how they were taken care of. Seeing as a 13 year old normally doesn’t know wild animals when they are raised relying on humans they can’t be released otherwise they risk dying, the step mother probably gave the bunnies to a place that can take care of them and what not.
As sad as it is to see Dash separated from his buddy, we can all take solace in the knowledge that Dash is going where he belongs. Wild rabbits belong in the wild.
They also didn't evolve to be hit by cars or killed by domesticated pets, but 🤷

Predators can’t smell bunnies when they are young but adult rabbits have a very distinct scent. So I’m order for her babies to be safe the mum would only come to feed them and than cover them back up and leave in order to not lead any predators to her den. Even if you find bunnies and you don’t see the mum never take them
I agree. We had a rabbit nest in our yard and I looked it up and the mom only comes twice a day. Early morning and late night. Aside from that she stays hidden. I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of her nursing them one morning. But it's pretty common to never see mom and I think it would be hard to tell if the nest had been disturbed. In this video it could be possible that the mom got eaten by a predator but I really don't if that was the case or if she was actually taking care of them and they just thought she wasn't because they never saw her which is common.

I'm so happy I'm not the only one who said that they cover them up every time they leave the babies that would have never died if she just left it alone people are stupid
The chances of them even being able to catch mom in the act are very low. You’d have to have a game camera and watch the feedback. Moms are extremely quick about tending to their young, then leave immediately for a long period of time. Given the size of the kits, it’s very likely that mom was still visiting them regularly.
“Hands off” is putting it VERY lightly for anyone that doesn’t know… rabbits are pray animals and super small ones at that so as soon as the mother has given birth and has given them their first meals she essentially abandons them to figure things out on their own. Rabbits are almost like chickens they breed all the fuckin time so the moment they give birth they essentially leave to get pregnant again.
Dachshunds are so loving. Graham was a wonderful foster Dad. It's hard, but best for the bunny to go to the wildlife rescue. ❤️
This is the sweetest story ever 😍 my heart is melting ❤️
Aww, the dog wanted to protect and raise that rabbit like it was his own puppy. I don't think I'd have the heart to send the rabbit off to the sanctuary because of the dog's feelings, even though it's the best thing for the bunny.
I feel the same way
Ikr
It’s so important do to the best for animals and keeping the rabbit would be the wrong thing to do… It’s difficult as they are so sweet etc but so much wildlife are having human encroachment as we juggle for land etc, it is so important that all wildlife stays wild which is why they did the best they could and handed he/she on to be cared for by the professionals and eventually released back into the wild. Lovely story and my guess is that the lady knew what she was doing, as she then handed the bunny on… Maybe 🤔 we could approach Dodo and see if information could be put on the clip at the end so that people will always then do the right thing before they intervene. Gaining valuable information from Rangers is important and will help all wildlife in the long run 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏

You would almost never want to disturb a rabbit nest. The mother leaves them for long periods of time. You will never see her during the day. They only feed the kits at night. The only time you would want to disturb a nest is if you saw the mom get killed and absolutely know that no care is being provided for the kits. Also the kits are surprisingly small and young when the mother stops caring for them and they have to fend for their own.
I wonder if they put a camera in place to see if there was no Dam. If they just presumed, then it is likely the Dam came back and her kits were gone.
It seems the mother really never comes back in some cases. There was quite a few babies near my house and everyone left them alone.. unfortunately they seemed to have been abandoned or the mother was killed.. some babies ventured off and some were smushed by the car in the driveway. It was so sad :(

Peace & blessings to you too, for looking after animals in need! Just let hubby know he's your favorite animal with a big smooch & hug, okay? And have a wonderful Hanukkah season this year too. From a Portuguese -Jewish "cousin" from west coast in spirit! Take care & hugs!
How sweet when the dog put his head on the bunny. I'm so sorry you had to give the bunny away it would have been nice if you could have kept it.
