Disgusting Car Detailing Makeover: Junkyard Disaster Before and After Cleaning

This is a 1984 Porsche 944 that sat in a junkyard and was eventually donated to Kars4Kids.org for a $500 tax voucher. I decided to donate a disgusting disaster car detail restoration in 2 days for a complete detailing makeover to see how much money we could raise for charity. We performed a paint restoration, interior disaster clean up, scratch removal, and paint touch up with a new needle trick. I posted the restored black paint pic on instagram and the car sold for $3000 based on the before and after detail prior to going to auction!

  • This was a 100% donation to Kars4Kids and I had a blast. The Porsche 944 never made it to auction because it sold in 7 mins after posting on AMMO NYC Instagram page. (I actually had 3 offers within 15 mins) Congrats to Kevin for picking up his new project and for his donation. Hope you guys enjoyed. -L

    • In this day and age, anyone with sufficient dedication to a specialised topic can amass an audience on the Internet. This is good for the host, who can make a living on a unique interest. At the same time, because of YT's algorithm, people with that same unique interest can join such communities, overcoming the barrier of time and space. The big problem with this development is that when everyone can choose to solely consume content that is tailored to their hobby and conform to their world view, there are fewer opportunities for meeting people with different or opposing world views. This echo chamber effect can be harmful to understanding and cooperation in the larger communities of cities, countries, and nations.

  • Hey larry, just want to say thanks for all the videos. My dad just handed me down his beloved car, a 2011 CTS. It meant a lot to me because it was the first nice (very lightly used) car he's ever bought in his entire life, and the newest car I've ever owned by a wide margin. He's not the best on detailing by any means, more of a "drive thru car wash" kind of person, but I appreciated the fact that he handed the car down to me so much that I wanted to do right by it. Just spent a few weeks studying the absolute hell out of your videos and just did a full interior/exterior detail on the car. Was an absolute joy and the black paint reflects like a mirror now. Much appreciated, I hope you realize how valuable these videos are to all your viewers

In most of the US you can find a decent NA 944 for $5k now and $5k in improvements / updating, and have it in near-perfect condition. Add $10k for a turbo version, which has 250hp+ against about 1600 pounds of weight.

  • Amazing video Larry. Hard to believe you could actually bring this 944 back from the brink. Absolutely INCREDIBLE! You are one of the true MASTERS of detailing my friend. I would be PROUD to own that Porsche 944 after you gave it the "Larry & AMMO NYC touch". One of my dream Porsche's is the 928. Ever since seeing Risky Business at the movies when I was in High School, I immediately fell in love with the 928. I've always wanted one since that very day. I'd love to get one in mint condition now days. Maybe someday. Even if I found one in poor condition and had it brought back to it's former glory! I know a lot of Porsche guys/gals are all for the air cooled Porsche's, and I love those too, but there's just something about that "wedge" shapes of the 928/944 series that I really like. I think because it reminds me of the 70's and the "wedge" car era like the Triumph TR7 that a friend of mine drove in high school. Take care Larry. Looking forward to your next video!

Very few people know that all the money donated to this organization goes to providing Jewish kids the ability to go to summer camps back east. I'm glad these kids get to go to camp but why not include all needy kids the same opportunity or at least be honest enough to convey where and to whom your donation will go.
