You can get a crate with an extra "insert" that will allow you to make the crate smaller to accommodate your dog as he or she grows. But, if, like us, you've had giant breeds (Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds), just bit the bullet and realize that you'll probably need to have three to four crates as your puppy grows. That little 10-pound Dane or Wolfhound puppy you carry into your home isn't going to be 10-pounds for long and you're not going to be able to carry them for long (so enjoy it while you can). The crate you use for your 8 to 10 week old Dane or Wolfhound is just no way the crate you can use for your grown dog.
Our lab pup does great in his plastic crate, sleeps thru the night and goes in there to relax sometimes. Thank you for your previous crate training videos, they really helped out a lot when he first came home.

Have you ever had a plastic get chewed threw ? I have and I was wondering if this is normal I want to crate train but worried this could happen again with one ?
There will be a lot of signals of distress before the plastic gets chewed through. Intervening at the earliest sign of stress will help prevent this from happening. In our online course we teach you how to recognize panic or stress and what to do about it.
