  • there are a number of things about your techniques that I think are superior to others I've seen on KZhead. For one, using quality hardwood for the base. It's a tiny amount of wood, and others cheap out with a piece of framing lumber or other garbage wood. It only takes a scrap of walnut, maple, cherry, etc., to make the piece look high-quality. Second, I like that you squared-off the piece with a miter saw and then started with 120 grit. So many start with 60 grit. That makes a mess, and it's a shaping rather than smoothing grade of paper, so you risk getting out of square or otherwise screwing up the shape. Many other fine attributes. These are just a couple.
