  • Just a fun fact: in germany we actually have a solar system scale model running along a river. It shows all 9 planets in an actual size and space scale. If you keep walking along the river, you will encounter the spots where the planets are displayed in realistic size and scale. Earth is like a stick-needles head but the sun is a giant yellow ball on the ground a few kilometers down the river :D

And yet we still have flat earth clowns exist, who like to ignore all human knowledge & advancement in understanding the universe..and dumb it down to a nonsense model that a child can poke holes in, I mean it's somehow exponentially more ignorant than religious zealots still sticking to a 2000 year old planet and dismiss the beauty and majestic course of evolution that over billions of years produced humanity on our microscopic blue speck in the cosmos No myths or religion or flat earth cults can even come close to creating a fiction thats even remotely as impressive as what's really out there

  • To those wondering how UY Scuti got its name: UY Scuti was discovered in the 1860s and was found to be a variable star (one that changes brightness), so it is subject to variable star designations. "Scuti" means that the star is in the constellation of Scutum (Latin for "shield"), and "UY" means that it is the 38th discovered variable star in the constellation. So putting it all together, UY Scuti's name literally means "38th known variable star in Scutum."
