When you don’t want copyright
Darth Vadyr? Jeddy? is this a copyright thing?
He's doing it on purpose lol
Probably explains why he pronounced AT--AT, @-@ instead of Aytee Aytee
@@olivernrgaard1683 I know people that say that unironically and it frustrates the hell out of me
People have called them At-At walkers instead of Aytee Aytees since Empire
God damn that triggers me Wren!!!
As a former professional breakdancer, the move the droid was doing early on was called flare, and he was doing it correctly. Whoever did that animation; respect.
It might have been a stock motion capture asset
No one gives a f*** that you were a "professional breakdancer".
The Starkiller base is _canonically_ Ilum, the planet Jedi got their Kyber Crystals from. And yes, it's a really small planet.
In the “would barely qualify as a dwarf-planet” sense 😛 Wouldn’t be the first time Star Wars has canonically royally screwed up its own scaling
@@jlighter1 It's larger than Pluto... _remembers what happened to Pluto_ God damn it!
@@jlighter1 From the Star Wars Wiki: "Ilum was a terrestrial astronomical body smaller than a dwarf planet. With a kyber crystalline core[13] and a frigid climate,[11] it was considered a planet despite its size.[13]" So... How exactly did Star Wars screw up it's scaling?
@@edale2 I suspect they called it a planet before they defined its size. And they then defined its size not realizing it was something that is well below the threshold for a terrestrial planet. Then afterward realized it and had to come up with some reasoning for why it was still called a planet. A post-hoc justification doesn't mean it wasn't screwed up initially. They also have a history of messing up their stated sizes compared to the known effects of that size, like how a horizon diameter will show for a defined size or how an object would appear when near other objects of defined size. Sometimes this happens in one direction (size stated first, then visual effects done incorrectly) sometimes the other (visual effects happen, then they define the size as something improbable/impossible). As an example: the _Executor_ was canonically 8 km long for a long time despite this not matching its appearance alongside Star Destroyers onscreen in _Empire_. Its actual size is around 19 km if you do the measurements. And for reference, Pluto has a diameter of 2,376.6 km, so a little more than 3.5 times the size of Ilum. Closest dwarf planet would be Ceres with a diameter of 950 km.
@@jlighter1 Actually the Executor's size does line up with regular ISD's. The ISD is 1.6 km and the Executor is 8 km or 5 ISD's lined up.

starkiller base was actually an imperial project that didn't finish construction by the time the new republic defeated them. the first order simply took control of it when they started amassing power. (fun fact, it's also the planet Ilum, one of two places where the jedi got their lightsaber crystals)
Wait a sec. If a 600 mile wide sphere can be a habitable planet, what does that say about all the other "planets" that we've seen in the Star Wars franchise? Are many or all of them just as small scale? Do we have a Firefly situation where sometime in the distant past, someone went around terraforming every rock big enough to form a sphere shape into habitable worlds?
@@noppornwongrassamee8941 Eh, Star Wars has always been pretty sketchy on the astronomy and planetology. Naboo's water-filled core, Bespin's unexplained breathable atmosphere, the Hoth asteroid field, Ect. It's not that far out of the ordinary for the franchise.
@@sayerglasgow115 My point is that if Star Killer base can be a natural planet (until it was hollowed out so it can be turned into a super weapon), then pretty much any other "planet" we see in Star Wars can be just as small. which in turn puts into question what the average size of a habitable planet is in Star Wars.
@@noppornwongrassamee8941 Well, if planets in Star Wars were tiny that might explain why most of them seem to only have one or two locations of note and why the relatively tiny Death Star has enough firepower to destroy them.

wait... Starkiller Base is only 660km in diameter. Knowing that Starkiller base was built into the planet Ilum (so claims new canon) after the collapse of the Empire, that means Ilum is smaller than dwarf planets. there is so much stuff wrong right there. In Legends, Ilum is larger in size than Pluto (Pluto being the largest in size, second in mass, of Dwarf Planets). We have calculated that so long as an object has 2.7% of Earth's mass, it can hold atmosphere (assuming it can prevent atmospheric stripping caused by its nearest star). Assuming 660km is before the mining of the crystal core, for use in Death Star and Death Star II, the required density, to reach 2.7% of Earth's mass, is 1,402 g/cm^3 Earth is 5.51 g/cm^3 The required mass to hold an atmosphere, without any technology, would make Ilum 255 times more dense than the Earth, just for Ilum to have the minimum 2.7% mass of Earth. If we look at Legends, 5780 km diameter, we get an entirely different story. A far more believable density of 1.512 g/cm^3 If we give Legend's Illum the same mass as Earth, we get a density of 56.34 g/cm^3. Just 10% less mass, will have Legend's Ilum almost the same density. And this is yet another reason to hate Disney's canon... their numbers make absolutely no sense at all. How did Ilum support atmosphere, before technology was introduced to help contain that atmosphere? It is 100% impossible for Ilum to be the size new canon claims it to be.
