  • My son joined the army at 18 and was sent to Germany. One night he and a friend went out to a pub in a nearby town. There were 4 or 5 men sitting at a booth in this bar and there were no others. My son and friend sat at the counter, had one drink and all of a sudden they began seeing double and feeling dizzy. Without a word they both got up and ran for the door, saw a taxi, jumped in and made it back to base where they collapsed in their rooms. It took those boys 2 days to wake from their coma. Nobody had checked up on them because it was their weekend off. Anyway, my son said he thought someone spiked their drinks and they were about to be robbed. Both boys had a fast reaction to the problem and felt very fortunate a taxi was there and got them back minutes before they both passed out. 🙏

  • When I lived in Germany, I lived in a small village. I had 4 children, would take them on walks through the village. Two of them were in a stroller. After 6 months of living in the village, a guy started following us. He approached me once, telling me that I had beautiful eyes & beautiful children. The first time, I didn't think much of it. When the guy would follow us nearly every time, I became wary of him. Being fluent in 5 languages helps. The guy said he didn't speak English, so, I spoke to him in German. I asked him to stop following us. He said nothing, then walked away. The next time, he showed up, following us, again. I stopped walking through the village after that. We were approved to move into military housing soon after. Many Americans feel so safe in other countries, believing the propaganda that there is low crime or no crime. Being able to understand news reports benefitted me greatly as I listened to & watched the news reports of whatever country we lived in. One month after we moved into military housing, a young American woman, mother of 2 was walking with her children through the village I had lived in. She was abducted, raped, murdered by the same guy who had been following me. Her 2 children ran back to the place they were living, gave a description of the guy to the police.

I felt every emotion she described & ones she didn't talk about. The sheer will of a mother or father's spirit & the drive parents have during times when we need it the most never ceases to amaze me. For a grieving mother to be treated so abhorrently after losing her only son (losing any child for that matter,) & by the very ppl who swore to an oath to protect & to serve, then to be treated in the manner in which she was when all she was looking for was answers is infuriating & unacceptable! • It’s Austria-concept. Soooo, “traditional” xenophobia: ignorance, arrogance, racism, sexism-as in the Nazi aunschloss/annexation era. I don’t believe I’ll finish watching the film-too pedantic, too 40s genre, & it’s frustrating that neither the embassy corps nor the mayor, nor anyone else acting as an “official” anything has contacted INTERPOL (or its equivalent, or the Pentagon) when a foreign citizen is reported as “missing.” Half the film is taken up with Aeryn’s suspected killers making snide comments to his deeply-concerned & seriously-emotional mother!!! Understandably so! What KIND of individual does NOT respond empathically to that situation & chooses the moment to “punish” her, for what?! For NOT being Austrian/Viennese?? For being an ex-constable? There is a true sickness & psychopathy at work in these interactions that is now internationally exposed-thanx to this film & to the Universe! But Aeryn’s mother’s ordeal is just too harrowing to be believed in a “tourist-friendly” nation-concept. I don’t know how LOOONG into the film it will be before any other “community” comes to the aid of this family, but for THIS nonsense to be the level of responsiveness from ANY individuals among its citizenry should be beyond humiliating for Austria-concept. It doesn’t need any further tourism commerce is palpably obvious-just at the halfway mark. Study music, “culture,” plumbing & engineering elsewhere, young people & professionals!! A whole “no-contact” zone for everyone except Hitler Youth members, based on its own history.

  • Although this happened nearly 17 years ago….I feel like Aeryn witnessed something or was involved with someone at the bathhouse, someone high social status or politics or maybe even a policemen.. someone who didn’t want his extramarital affairs or homosexual tendencies with other gay men to be exposed. These married men don’t visit “bathhouses “ to get CLEAN! They go for male on male sex! Aeryn must have been hurt, or threatened whilst in the bathhouse by that person or people… b/c he feared for his life.. to run out of bathhouse naked, leaving all his belongings and phone behind. Then the police or whoever he was running from, probably caught him.. beat him, knocked him out and threw him in the canal. He most likely drowned, and the “fisherman” probably actually saw and heard the disruption of Aeryn’s body being assaulted and then floating down the canal.. but was ‘convinced’ by authorities.. that like Sargent Shultz from Hogans Hero’s “ I saw nothing” ….Then the Austrian government and police covered it up. It’s so heartbreaking to see his mother in such pain💔 I hope and pray she finds out one day, although she probably already knows in the back of her mind being an ex police officer herself. I can’t imagine how she must feel. IMO.. hard to prove and much more difficult to hold those guilty of his murder accountable in a foreign country who despises gays and Americans! His mother and press needs to find that Fisherman!! I believe he was real, and he saw and heard what happened, but was convinced otherwise by authorities it was in his “ best interest “ to keep quiet.. thus changing his story over and over again! Find that guy! He may be your only hope for resolution!!!💔🙏🥲

I just think they snub their noses at Americans and especially if they dare to be “gay” … Why did they make such a big deal about Aeryn being “ Mr. Gay Austria??? So what? He was a beautiful man with a beautiful physique! Who cares his sexual preference! it’s so sad! He was a beautiful person, and his eyes… talk about the windows to his soul.. he was mesmerizing! omg! His relationship with his mother was so special and she definitely did not deserve to be treated with such disrespect by the arse-hole poliza!! Maybe they were involved? Who knows? I just wish they’d have had the decency to give a mother her son’s body and let her grieve with/for him. • @@jenniferdokken8250 I have to say that if they would've just given her his body, no matter the condition, her pain would be of a different level. She'd have him with her, to bury him and know where his physical body is and know without a doubt where his spiritual soul is, forever with our Lord, so she will be reunited with him. I know I would feel more 'closure', so to speak. A mom has to have their childs body to bury, to be able to grieve their loss by knowing that he is near her, safe within her reach, if you know what I mean. I am still crying over this horrible loss of a beautiful life and the deep, intense pain his mother is being made to endure. I have 2 adult children and I want to hold them so tight right now, and in a way I feel I am helping Aeryn's mom by saying this, to let her know that we all feel her pain and must appreciate our babies, no matter the ages, distance, circumstances, like she obviously had shown her son all during his life. My heart tells me that Aeryn is holding his sweet and gracious mother up, giving her daily strength along with Gods love and fills her with hope and faith.

All they want to do is cover it up b/c when an American dies in these foreign touristy areas… they lose income …All they care about is the cover up so people visiting will not be afraid to fly into their country for vacation or holiday! It’s the same in Mexico, remember Natalie Holloway, who died on Spring break ( raped and drowned and thrown to sea by her murderer) her mother searched for her for years and years, she never gave up… until that murderer Johan Vander Sloot was caught and charged with her death.. he finally told her what really happened the day her daughter died…at least she finally knows where Natalie went, how she passed, ….: ( and her daughter’s murderer is in prison! When you get to know them they are in many ways quite backwards thinking, their institutions may pretend to be modern but theyre surprisingly racist, misogynistic, prejudiced, homophobic and xenophobic. The tourists dont see i t but the people living in some of these countries do. As a British female living in Switzerland i was treated with daily abuse, threatened, beaten up and denigrated to a position somewhere below an animal, that was just in the workplace! He didn’t just take off and live his life, he wanted to share his life with his mother, and probably had plans to care for her, as she aged. Who ever did this, not only destroyed his life, but also hers, and I hope that one day they will suffer for what they did, and pay for their sins.

They just wondered why I was speaking so good German language because my parents were immigrants and made jokes…I felt guilty and bad…I was asked why I had time to look at the colour of his clothes…I was treated like a criminal…..I really can feel her pain….😢I’m so sad …this is really hard and traumatising to watch this❤❤❤prayers to the lady

  • This entire story is crazy. His mom said he had a " partner ", yet that " partner " wasn't mentioned at all except in passing in the beginning. Where was this " partner " when the mom was doing everything by herself, not being able to interpret what was being said to her, having to depend on a liason from her son's employer to get around? Where was the " partner "? Did he try to get any information about his lover's death? Why didn't the mom mention him more? He seems to be out of the picture from beginning to end. After watching this and reading other news about this case, I do feel that her son was partaking in drugs and sex in the bath house. Witnesses said they saw him running naked down the street looking desperate/scared/confused. A fisherman said he saw a naked bald man in the canal. I believe those witnesses. They had nothing to gain by lying about what they saw. It makes sense that he was high and running away based on witness statements, but WHO was he running from and WHY? Something horrible happened inside the bath house. I'm guessing he was drugged, and possibly used for whatever purpose by someone in authority or someone wealthy. Perhaps he wasn't agreeable to what was taking place and ran for his life. Depending on what drugs he could have ingested, he could've easily been psychotic and ran and jumped into the canal. I can see that happening actually. It doesn't excuse how they possibly lied and covered things up or that they were disrespectful to the mom. I hope this mom gets the answers she's looking for.

    • I agree, and was the partner the one who fell to the floor in the sauna in mourning? Why was he not further investigated or mentioned? Strangers meeting up for sex at saunas unfortunately can also meet up with all manner of debauchery too including group rape. I was once witness to such a horrific event being in a nearby building the screams of the man in the sauna were haunting. Mom needs to own up to the fact that her son put himself in a very dangerous situation which cut his life short however it appears he lived a life he loved and that's more than many can say. It's time for her to remember how happy was his life in Vienna not his quick demise there.
