  • A family member of mine took delivery of this today in white with white interior. He was kind enough to let me drive it with 18 miles on it. The car was still calibrating as I was driving it. The power of this thing is godly. It drove so nice too( normal driving). The steering wheel took a bit to get used to though. The captains chairs were pretty sweet. I’m more a muscle car guy but man it was on another level. I really need to borrow it for some reaction vids. I took the wife for a ride in it and she had a classic reaction( she had ZERO idea about it. It was just a car to her, but she learned quick). I was in my glory so I didn’t think to catch it on video.

  • The appearance has grown on me. I didn't like the shape when it was first launched. But this shape has become a lot more common among other automakers, and I actually find the clean design and sloped rear shape of the X to be really nice. I also found the handling to be much flatter than what you get in a non-M X5. The rear doors are not only cool AF, but are also convenient when it's raining by providing cover when loading infants into car seats, or for ease of exit with my disabled mother-in-law. I ordered a Model X Long-range last year and will hopefully be getting it this July. Cannot wait.

  • I have a Model X Plaid and love it. The steering wheel is great because it doesn't get in the way of the console. I also like all the screen features. Self-driving mode is awesome on long freeway trips. One-pedal driving is really nice once you get used to it. My only complaints about the car are: - The tires are quite expensive and wear out faster than they would on lighter vehicles. - Closing the "frunk" feels quite fragile, like your going to cave in the hood. - Pulling the third-row seats back up sucks. My favorite part of the car is flooring it with someone who hasn't experienced a Tesla in the passenger seat.

For example, you can access a live image of the sentry mode and even speak through the outside speakers remotely to ask anyone messing with your car "what's up". Also, the service experience is completely app-based and super easy.

I've owned a Model 3 for 1½ years now and the only voice command feature I really use is "error" to report errors. It might be because my language (Danish) isn't covered as well, but for instance "show tire pressures" just says it can't be shown (or similar) after the UI update where the location was changed and it really only takes one misunderstanding for me to not want to use it because I need to make punctuations between every word like I'm teaching a toddler a sentence structure, and then it takes a few seconds to process, plus is annoying if it does something wrong like turn on the wipers on high...

Also, worth mentioning that voice commands will control most things in this car so going into the screen to control things is mostly not needed. Another thing that is unique to electric cars worth talking about is the integrated charger mapping - if going on a long road trip, the Tesla will do route planning to Superchargers and will let you know how long you'll be at each stop as well as how many people are currently using that supercharger and what facilities (bathrooms, food, etc) are nearby.

    • The main problem is operating the heated seat and wheel controls which is a major pain because you have to be precise with your screen inputs, while driving over bumpy roads that proves to be very difficult. I end up accidently pressing temp up/down and pretty much have to take my focus off the road for a couple of seconds to tap the right part of the screen and then additionally have to precisely tap the heated seat button and choose temp. Sounds minor in plain text but in real world driving scenarios a couple of seconds focused on that could end badly.
