He’s had sponsors a long time ago with some Bluetooth speaker brand

Sponsors distract from the reviews imo
A family member of mine took delivery of this today in white with white interior. He was kind enough to let me drive it with 18 miles on it. The car was still calibrating as I was driving it. The power of this thing is godly. It drove so nice too( normal driving). The steering wheel took a bit to get used to though. The captains chairs were pretty sweet. I’m more a muscle car guy but man it was on another level. I really need to borrow it for some reaction vids. I took the wife for a ride in it and she had a classic reaction( she had ZERO idea about it. It was just a car to her, but she learned quick). I was in my glory so I didn’t think to catch it on video.
But it is a muscle car. In the same way the Durango Hellcat is a muscle car.

I like that Doug talks about the car like no one has seen one before. Very nice for people who don’t know anything about the car
I can not understand that whether you are roasting him or praising him.
Yeah but for some cars he'll say "I won't go over that because I already went over that in the other video" like for the polestar
Yet the car itself is still ugly as shit
@@jaydawg2023 That's exactly why this is the ultimate sleeper just like Doug said.
That's the best part of his video experience, it's great for newbies, potential buyers and people who are used to it. It even makes you run to your car to make sure yours does that too 🙂
The appearance has grown on me. I didn't like the shape when it was first launched. But this shape has become a lot more common among other automakers, and I actually find the clean design and sloped rear shape of the X to be really nice. I also found the handling to be much flatter than what you get in a non-M X5. The rear doors are not only cool AF, but are also convenient when it's raining by providing cover when loading infants into car seats, or for ease of exit with my disabled mother-in-law. I ordered a Model X Long-range last year and will hopefully be getting it this July. Cannot wait.
Lol that was funny seeing you accelerate, I would have been crying laughing in the passenger seat on cloud 9😭
Sometimes when Doug reviews an insanely fast car I skip forward to the driving portion of the video before watching the review just to see him lose his mind when flooring it. Never disappoints

One of the main issues is actually the lack of a proper gear stalk. I love the simplicity of the Model 3 we have, and the placement of the gear lever during paralell parking is perfect. Can't imagine trying to quickly adjust in a parking spot during rush hour in this new model X
Fortunately, there is an aftermarket solution called the SEXY buttons which let you map car functionality on to up to 6 physical wireless buttons.

It would be cool for Doug to do a review on a 2012 or 2013 Model S to show how well or poorly they've aged.
Doug said that he would review it if the 2012-13 Model S starts to become a bargain car.
he can review my 2014, im in san diego near him, they have aged fairly well if you fix the minor stuff like screens or handles failing it will feel new still. people (a guy who owns 2 mclarens and a taycan) have mistaken my 1st gen model s (yes with the nose cone front facia) for a plaid! they look quite different if you know what to look for, front fascia is main give away rest has aged well. many would prefer to still have turn signal stalk, window locks on door handles, aor vents you can touch/see and move etc. its more boomer friendly then new teslas it was made to transition people out of their i.c.e. cars
Model S aged a heck of a lot better than other EVs from that time for sure.
My colleague's early S has something like 350k on it and is still going strong.
I have 2013 Tesla. Had to fix sun roof leak, replace the center console touch screen and the door handle couple times. Otherwise still very happy with everything else

33:09 Me when I’m constipated
I have a Model X Plaid and love it. The steering wheel is great because it doesn't get in the way of the console. I also like all the screen features. Self-driving mode is awesome on long freeway trips. One-pedal driving is really nice once you get used to it. My only complaints about the car are: - The tires are quite expensive and wear out faster than they would on lighter vehicles. - Closing the "frunk" feels quite fragile, like your going to cave in the hood. - Pulling the third-row seats back up sucks. My favorite part of the car is flooring it with someone who hasn't experienced a Tesla in the passenger seat.
Please invite me over, I will be your passenger. 😅.
I drove one today. OMG!!!! The feeling is insane.

The worst you had to say about the car was the 3rd row folding operation, which took less than 5 seconds to fold down and back up. I'd say if that's the worst thing about the car, then it's a home run. Minus the fact that it costs as much as my first house did in the 80s.

Doug, it's 2022 and an important part of a car is the app that is used with it. Time to also include it in your reviews, because Tesla does the best apps anywhere. For example, you can access a live image of the sentry mode and even speak through the outside speakers remotely to ask anyone messing with your car "what's up". Also, the service experience is completely app-based and super easy.

I watched you go in head first which obviously works of course , but after trying this other way it seemed to flow better. Love the videos as always.

the third row seats are arguably the most comfortable in the industry, if you put your legs down the center aisle. For 6'3 footers like me, it's a breath of fresh air.
I remember back in the 80’s my friend bought a device from JC Whitney. It was a box that we mounted under the dash, a button on the column and a speaker under the hood and a mic. You could make various horn sounds and use it like a loudspeaker ….. just like the Tesla. But it was like $29 I think and was in an old Dodge. 🤣
Hell yea man. Good ol days
Great Video as always Doug. You mention about the glove box not having a latch and the climate controls, heated seats, etc. all being controlled through the touch screen. After owning a Model Y for about 6 months now I have found using the voice commands seem to simplify most of everything you mentioned. Plus, nothing beats some of the unique voice commands that can be used to open the charge port..
HEY! You also use the open butthole command. I thought I was the only one doing that in my model 3 😂
I really have to practice the voice commands more. I quickly get impatient with them - especially when I have passengers. I've owned a Model 3 for 1½ years now and the only voice command feature I really use is "error" to report errors. It might be because my language (Danish) isn't covered as well, but for instance "show tire pressures" just says it can't be shown (or similar) after the UI update where the location was changed and it really only takes one misunderstanding for me to not want to use it because I need to make punctuations between every word like I'm teaching a toddler a sentence structure, and then it takes a few seconds to process, plus is annoying if it does something wrong like turn on the wipers on high...
You missed the fact that you can set it to have the door open automatically when you walk up! It's one of my favorite parts of my Model X. 😀
He did. And I don't trust it with how hard it flings out that door.

Loved how after flooring it, Doug looks around for cops haha. So with modern cars, you should also talk about the other screen.... the one in your pocket that can control the car! Also, worth mentioning that voice commands will control most things in this car so going into the screen to control things is mostly not needed. Another thing that is unique to electric cars worth talking about is the integrated charger mapping - if going on a long road trip, the Tesla will do route planning to Superchargers and will let you know how long you'll be at each stop as well as how many people are currently using that supercharger and what facilities (bathrooms, food, etc) are nearby.
I’m pretty sure the cops would just give him a warning. Then drool over the X plaid like I am . I wish I can afford one.
Not a fan of this car at all, plus I can guarantee those vents 8:40 wont warm you enough when its really cold but hey its a SoCal car.
@@niceview2112 wrong. Tesla's are better than traditional vents. Traditional vents tend to target a specific one spot current. Tesla's you feel equally blended all over the cabin.
Plus, you use your phone to Auto-start the heater on your Tesla before you get into it and it's already warm inside. My friend has one and he is always cold and loves this feature for really cold and wet Texas nights.
Totally agree about the phone app review, I've had the Audi Q4 for a few months now and the Audi app is shockingly bad.

It’s funny when people praise Tesla for making weird changes to their interior. Every car used to have quirky interiors. We decided we didn’t like that and that’s why most functions are unofficially standardized.
I like the placement of the controls on the yoke. Means you can do most things without having to reach away.
In the pursuit of simplicity, they made everything extremely complicated.
Exactly, opening the glove box being the most blatant example of that.

headsup displays on tesla's would be a game changer....with that they could eliminate all cluster screens from all models and save more money since heads up displays are pretty cheap

As far as appearance, I find it really attractive but the body kits available for this X, adds more sporty aspect to it. Especially the rear body kits.
You can also open glovebox, control AC, play songs, navigation, etc. using voice commands. Doug also mentions that it is missing a "camera rear view mirror", but it isn't. You have the rear camera view on the large screen as well as side cameras. You can drive forward with them on the screen too.
I don't know if you've ever lived with Tesla voice commands on a daily basis but they aren't very reliable or accurate and depend on good cellular reception to even function at all. Prior model S/X had a physical button that didn't interfere with the minimalistic design and there are absolutely no reasons to not bring that over to the new generation besides cost cutting.
It is missing a camera rear view mirror. The whole point of a camera rear view mirror is so you don’t have to take up space on the center screen to have a clear view of what’s behind you

I think yoke is just a safety concern in emergency situations. For example when your car starts to spin out because of a crash/hit or any other reason, it would be very hard to make sudden manouvers to save the car from spinning out. Other than that of course it looks cool and futuristic and comfortable.
Considering the state of "full self driving", the last thing I'd want is less of a wheel to be grabbing when taking control back from the car.
I don't get why people complain about yokes in cars, but don't mind them on airplanes.
@@automation7295 Because cars and airplanes are two entirely different things?? What a dumb comment...
@@lukegraham9603 oh word?
@@automation7295 well.. you dont gotta do a 3 point turn in an airplane with half a steering wheel.. it is impractical af in a car.. but ayy we love a change up, doesnt mean its always a good one
Great review Doug! Love the Model X!! Side note: That feeling when you know he's sitting in an LDS church's parking lot just from seeing the lot and of course the cop car in the back (they love to chill out in LDS parking lots 😂).
Great Video Doug!!!
The reactions from Doug when he floors a Plaid are priceless as they are hilarious. I expected a really shocked one on the Nevera but this are just great to watch.
I cancelled my Model X order in 2016 after Doug's review. Finally bought one in 2020 and it is the best car I've ever owned.
Coming from what? An '86 Corolla?

@@nyamnyam32 You're right! Spoken like a true Tesla owner.
Doug gave it a good review in 2016 tho, he said it was one of the best suvs
Omg! This car is so cool! Three rows of seats,1000 horse power and all electric! That is amazing! Also, get ready for those acceleration face memes!
Love Doug’s reaction to the acceleration, I ☠️ laughing
The voice u made the Tesla in freaked me out so much my puppy started wuffing like gravel/rocks from the other room downstairs omg
Good thing about the screens are driver profiles too, they save almost every setting so you don't have to go into the screen as much
My favorite thing about the plaid variants is how subtle the styling is. I wish there was even less difference between the plaid and the plain. I don't ever want to know what kind of Tesla it is until its already beating me
I feel like if you race a Tesla you should expect to lose either way no matter what model it is. Unless your pulling a lot of power lol
I swear there's nothing subtle about it. You can tell a Tesla from a mile away.
@@DLK96 Tesla vs other Teslas, not other cars, he was saying the subtlety in differences between variants of Teslas

I actually enjoy ads when Doug talks about them 😅
An ad in a video AND Doug still won’t admit the yoke is a terrible idea…I think Big Tesla has our favorite KZheadr under contract or something! ;) In all honesty though, don’t mind the ads especially if they help someone as wholesome as Doug get even more of his dream cars for us to watch.
According to Doug, he would only do a sponsor if he actually uses it, like Cars & Bids, the Bluetooth speaker from 3 years ago, and Credit Sesame.
@@bonzobonanza Lol. I remember that speaker. I’m not sure he needs credit sesame though. If measly old me can manage to have an 800 credit score I’m sure he’s maxed out by now. I’m sure common sense and/or his wife just told him how harmless ads would be and how much extra revenue they bring in.
Doug you are not supposed to use the other door option it can cause damage , don't forget when you get into the driver's seat you can close your door by putting your foot on the brake pedal.
I wish this car had the new plaid badge! I was looking to hearing Doug’s opinion on it
Hey Doug, how comfortable are those seats? They look comfortable, but I was just wondering!
Great and complete review Doug! The face of someone flooring the fastest SUV in the world is the extra bonus in this video! 🚘🔌⚡
It's crazy I've never been too into the model x but the model x plaid changes my mind.
Look at Rich Rebuilds channel on the X. Things fall apart left and right its OK for peeps under warranty NOW but soon they wont be....

I literally set my climate control to “auto” and never touched it again. Being in a screen menu really not an issue.
right? my car from 2003 has auto climate, i set it to 22 degrees two years ago and haven't touched it since. except for the occasional defogger press
This! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 people that play with their climate control constantly are weird. Just set it and forget it
The main problem is operating the heated seat and wheel controls which is a major pain because you have to be precise with your screen inputs, while driving over bumpy roads that proves to be very difficult. I end up accidently pressing temp up/down and pretty much have to take my focus off the road for a couple of seconds to tap the right part of the screen and then additionally have to precisely tap the heated seat button and choose temp. Sounds minor in plain text but in real world driving scenarios a couple of seconds focused on that could end badly.
Easy trade for me to have the uncluttered dash v. pressing the screen twice to get my controls.
@@g35crazy people that say This! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾instead of just writing what they want to write are weird
