MIGRANTS, a short film by Paul Chadeisson, is the first short film presented by Oats Studios in a new playlist that will become a curated collection of our favorite short films from our favorite artists.
Humanity started the process of terraforming Mars many years ago. We follow the thoughts and prayers of one of the “cleaners” who works on this titanic project.

Oh man if you’re a fan of docking sequences you're gonna looove this!!!
SlyRy :D
actually any future station would be designed so that the direction of travel necessary for docking does not put the vessel on a trajectory directly towards the main solar array.
I like the way the knobbed shaft deftly entered the docking lock port... slowly and deliberately but without hesitation...or even lubricant.
That was docking awesome.
I'm a rock right now
This is in my top 6 "short films" about space-docking.
Earthly Fireflies what
@Earthly Fireflies yes
@@funnelingspace9268 you just got red pilled bro :dabs:
In my top 10 as well, space docking is the best genre
Could you please provide the List? I would include Interstellar, probably 2001 and maybe City of a 1000 planets. :D
I see a lot of indifferent comments, I for one was touched by this beautiful poem and the stunning visuals. Nothing fancy but still breathtaking and it caused me to feel hope for a future we have yet to build.
There is no huge originality in this. Sure the technic and music are quite good but what is the point ?
That and the sound design makes it beautiful. something most don't have a use for I suppose.
Do you ride unicons to work?
It's too damn bad this was not made into a feature length, 2 hr flick. Really good!
2020: Waiting for rakka volume 2 or fire base volume 2
@@gregswitala Did you?
@@gregswitala "You had your chance though" - Really? I barely found out about the fundraiser, despite watching all of the content and sharing their videos repeatedly. (and yes, I still tried to support it, I got my refund email on 21 April, 2018). There was next to no information about it on KZhead, which is where I'm guessing the studio gets most of their views. The fundraiser was for a serious amount of money, but was open for a small period of time and done outside of any of the standard crowdfunding sites. The whole campaign felt like it was done by someone who had heard a general description of crowdfunding, thought "Hey, that sounds neat," and then looked into none of the practicalities. Heck, they were releasing videos on KZhead within weeks of the start of the fundraiser and there was next to nothing here. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a lot of KZhead fans of Oats that would have loved to contribute during the campaign if they had any idea it existed, and its hardly the fans' fault that the studio lacked a serious social media marketing strategy when they tried crowdfunding.
@@kerbal666 I did, they refunded the money sadly. I only pitched in a little but it definitely wasn't well advertised.
@@alltheraz Yeah, it could have been done better. I'm shocked they haven't made a connection with Netflix or something to make something bigger. I got the refund too and remember feeling disappointed.
@@gregswitala I too managed to stumble across the fundraiser and was disappointed when it got refunded, with no explanation as to why. It's a shame, I really love their youtube shorts.
I kept expecting to see a little green Kerbal on EVA.
Can't wait for ksp 2. The only game I have high hopes for
@@user-ez3hw7qq3q I feel like no matter how good it is I'll still go back to play KSP 1 every now and then.
MattStryker Same!
If it's true, that oats studios is now history it's one of the biggest losses this artform has ever seen.... What they released was so creative and awesome.
Soon as I saw that mega station and the style, knew this was Paul’s work. Highly encourage people to check out his recent stuff
Just remembered their password I guess.
I think they've lost it again
Lol they remembered they have a channel
Chris G finally they uploaded something 😂
Gotta keep the lights on somehow. Lol
Nice name bro
Dude you know how much time, effort and money this kind of short films need?
"a lot of free time" Well there's your problem. If you have free time then you are unemployed, and if you are unemployed you have bigger problems to worry about, like "where do I get money to buy food?".
Always makes us happy to see a new release from Oats! Really hoping to see a continuation or feature length of Zygote, Rakka, and especially Fire Base! Keep on keeping on! ~ Teknoloshe
то чувство когда в ролике на ютубе спецэфекты и графка круче чем оскароносных фильмах. БРАВО парни БРАВО!!
This is more like a concept
most Oats things are, to be fair
Yeah, I was like "Oh boy!" but then I was like "meh"
tbf It was made by Paul Chadeisson who's a concept artist
@@Rythaze tfb this looks like a 90s video game intro in HD
Well I'm a little biased since Paul Chadeisson is a massive artistic inspiration for me.
When do we get more Oats? Last thing published was something for Anthem the meh'est game of 2019.
Probably never, dude gave up on oats and is going back to making regular movies
@@HarshNerf going back to making regular movies and he hasn't made a movie sense expect demonic and that sucked, he has a game studio now lol
Amazing, thanks for this journey :)
Very thrilling! I thought for sure they was going miss the dock, but at the last second they made it. Heart stopping😅
For one, it's good to see you guys are still alive and at it. Secondly, it's nice to see that ship in use. I found the model files for it a month back. Looks damn good.
You guys are AWESOME for sharing the love with the community of artists out there! Great stuff!
This. Is. F*cking. Awesome. Paul Chadeisson's work is just dope.
That was elegant. Thank you. Let's terraform earth first.
This is amazing but imma need another episode of ADAM
Damn right man!
Same here. No idea if they even have any of the creative talent that made it in their studio anymore.
Same
@Joshua Herren PREACH
Damn shame such amazing and creative stuff can be made and then forgotten about. Adam was fucking brilliant.
So that's a great orbital mirror, built to warm up the Mars icecaps for terraforming process. Nice concept!
Through hardship, to the stars. 🙂
Chadeisson is such a talented artist. I certainly want to see much more from him. I hope he thrives.
So, when is Oats Studios collaborating with Netflix to make miniseries? Can you imagine a film about ADAM?! Or RAKKA?
Yeeees!
So its happen
I'm from the future but with a brain: They just uploaded already existing videos to Netflix. I'm glad Oats Studios are getting that dough but no series was ever made.
So where's the short movie? This is a trailer.
teaser*
@@brayancatano136 Yes, sorry
@@brayancatano136 Savage, but really true. Truevage.
...or pitch*.
Shall I tell him?
Everywhere you go in space, if there are no explosions or laser blasts, there is epic loud music and pompous narrations. So much for the silence of the vacuum.
Movies like this always spark a visceral excitement I have never been able to explain...
Maybe Melville said it best: "With other men, perhaps, such things would not have been inducements; but as for me, I am tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote."
I love the way this is presented, and how everyone probably just assumes that's earth in the background that he is talking about, but then it's revealed at the end that it's terraformed mars.
Beautiful! My second favorite Oats story yet. Please make more!
The ship design on this is amazing. Beautiful work.
Oats releases are my drug.
@Widemore At least you can't over dose on it.
Drugs have substance.
Get better drugs.
you got shorted
What a rip deal
What a beautiful prologue. I want to see the rest.
I salute that consept artist who is behind that ship model. Very beliable but same time unique.
Nice and hopeful nod to more “classical” sane, scientifically accurate and optimistic science fiction. We need more things like this!
(Me in skeleton form) Still waiting for Rakka: Volume 2
Rakka is part of volume one. They weren't planning on making a sequel
@BT-7274 How do you know? They left so many plots open, the angelic appearance, the savant who they modified..If they start a new fundraiser or seek collaboration with Netflix it'll be a huge success

Oats Studios: the masters of blue balls
Word So damn true
Very nicely done! I like the effects of your maneuvering jets. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! I loved it. A tease actually.....
It's neat for a render, but calling this a short film is very pretentious. Would love to see if something more comes out of it though.
Yeah my thoughts exactly. I would love it if something more is actually coming in the story otherwise it's hype for no reason.
Charlie Vetsworth Woah, there, cowboy. No need to get to so bent out of shape. Take your Xanax.
True! There are things that are lacking.
I don't see why it's wrong to call it a short film. It's short, it's artistic, and it presents a story, albeit just a teaser of a larger whole that won't come.
@Nightrader. Where? What story? Ship docking, satellite rotating, camera flying in all directions. Narrator reading phrases. Where? How? What?
Effects in this short movie are better than biggest budget indian movie.
graphics in context of space are easy to make and easier to believe. Indian movies are trying, we'll get there eventually.
Did you see a single human in this video? Your own comment shows how little you know or understand about VFX. Honest advice, don't display your own ignorance like this. Learn about VFX before you begin to judge someone's work. Don't let your inferiority complex and ignorance tarnish the hardwork of others.
Paul Chadeisson the person behind the art of Remember Me (Capcom Game) and Blade Runner Blackout (animation). This man knows very well how to capture the sense of scale in his works, the mega structures really give the feeling that they are colossal.
More please! Absolutely one of my favourite channels on KZhead!
Ok, calling the ship Asmiov is cheeky :'D
its a bit on the nose
Asimov* ;) I did not saw that detail, so when I read your comment, I was confuse about what "Asmiov" could be a reference to. ^^
@Pagliacci Yeah, totally: Pedos are always democarts when they are not republicans, or centrists or whatever other ideology. Believing that such horrendous crimes can't be commited by people sharing your political view is the level 0 of political awareness.
fossmonz not at all. How?
@Pagliacci got sources on that? blogs and youtube videos don't count
This is pretty cool, the lack of any shadow (direction of light) movement on the ship took me out of it a little bit. Still a million times better than anything I could come up with.
watch some ISS videos, there is no/very little shadow because there is nothing between the sun and whatever else is up there. it looks weird because we are not used to it
I think what is really a pity is the lack of indirect lighting coming from the earth, on many shots you have the light of the sun hiting the ships, and the shadow completely black. Yeah i know... the empty space is black right? so shadows are black... but in some shots the shadows of the ships are pointing the earth. But also, light bounces, even if shadow doesn't point the earth it might get light bounces from other parts of the ship that are being lighted.
Oats Studios never fails to amaze me with the quality of their work!!!!
Great , lov'd the Ship design and run up to docking..and a good short.
Still waiting for the president short oats teased like 3 times.
@Joshua fine The POTUS Trump threatened a nuclear strike if they showed more of how he really gets down or what he really rides in.
Well, now that death stranding is out (and from friends in the industry I heared that people who are part off Oats also took part in some design and visual stuff for DS) we probably can expect more.
they already released, 2 episodes...
Been quiet for a while, was beginning to worry 👌
As far as I have heard some creative people worked on Kojimas Death Stranding. So its not unexpected that after thats done we get new stuff here.
He needs to make alien 5 ;(
those are the biggest RCS thrusters I have ever seen.
Wow ... what imagery! My heart dropped at the opening sequence.
Hell freakin' yeah love oats studios. :D
Great job, looks like an epic intro rather than a short film.
It's really not a film. It has no story, no beginning or end. I guess the ship successfully docked but is that a film? Idk.
Everything from Oats Studio is Awesome!
Well that small tiny intro got me the need Bring that on big time. Wow 😳 looks awesome just ma cuppah tea
More like a trailer than an actual "film"
Maybe it is. Maybe they're planning something bigger.
That's most of their stuff. Trailer-like short pieces as if for a future movie that'll never be made.
@Dani Marcu literally and technically definable as such yea
More like a teaser cause I have no idea what this is about lmao
@@funtourhawk were you not listening? They're purifying Marsian air so their children can breathe one day
Reeaaaallly short film
Might be an add
Movie Trailer Quality! Good Job!!
That was very lovely. I particularly enjoyed the texturing, they had a very real and practical appearance.
As a Elite player, this is the best film about docking yet. The frustration just to put your ship into the station is quite nauseating.
With intensive commercial legal or not, the auto docking system is a big plus !
"The only thing more gangsta than a space Glock is a spacedock" - MC Computer, 3786 AD
Well done!! Great short SciFi film!
Incredibly magnificent !
Well Oats uploaded... I'll see you guys again in another 3 months.
Umm... it looks great and all, but all that happened was a spaceship docked.
Hahahahaha yes
Well to be fair there's plenty of narrative about their other activities. And a nice view of the planet.
...and a poem about colonizing Mars.
Bro you gotta look deeper
yes, it is a satisfying close-up docking :D with a bit of foreplay.
Short movie always the best 👍👍👍👍👍😀
Holy moly I've been watching all the awesome artwork Paul's been putting on artstation, seeing it motion is amazing
I really hope there’s more to come after ALL THIS TIME.
I could listen to hours of that music
Right? I'm trying hard to search for the soundtrack.
It is hard to find any other 3 minutes space scene so imbued with meaning. A shuttle, a space station orbiting Mars and a Builder who will not live enough to see his work done. Constructing a home for the generations to come.
Holy shit I now understand what the narration means! Thank you for this!
More! MORE! *MOOOORE* !!!!!!!!!!!
Seems more like a trailer

WOW! Another great movie! Thanks so much for sharing your awesome vision! You have an incredible team! Keep these movies coming sir!
I think they remembered that they had a studio and were like...”shit...that docking scene in Apollo 13...ya...let’s make that, only longer....”
Remarquablement réaliste! Cela mérite un long métrage vu de la qualité de l' image et du détail! Merci pour le petit instant de partage.
This is such a great movie wow such detail it is awesome please do more! You have a gift let it flourish sir!
This give me goosebumps and even makes me emotional. I want to explore our universe so bad! Thank you for your amazing work.
Pretty awesome, I'd love to see more. Hey Oats, are you guys going to give any news on new Adam episodes?
ADAM!
Huge fan of Oats Studios. Keep up the great work!! Would love to see some of your stories turn into motion pictures.
This is just way too cool, Paul's artwork now animated......next level
ok nice trailer but where's the movie?
Yeah, this is really low effort compared to everything else they have produced. But if this is a trailer then I'll watch the actual short film as well.
@@jaromswenson7541 Based on the description to the video and the credits it doesn't seem like Oats produced this short film at all, seems like it's something they just like.
@@jaromswenson7541 Not even made by them, read the description, I am sure they are still working on things as they are very secretive about their work. Hell people waited 13 years for Valve to do another HL game and it took them 5 years to develop it, I think we can wait a bit longer for quality content from Oats. "MIGRANTS, a short film by Paul Chadeisson, is the first short film presented by Oats Studios in a new playlist that will become a curated collection of our favorite short films from our favorite artists."
@@BuildInRobloxStyle ok then, they didn't put that in the video....so I assumed that something that was put on their chanel would actually be theirs. If its someone's else's thing it still looks low effort. I've seen good cgi made by other youtubers who dont have big money behind them who could put out something actually worth watching. This was "vague sentences " matched with "boring space stuff" that is titled "potentially hot political topic word ". This wasnt worth the 3 minuts I spent watching it.
@@TheMrKlump ok then. cant fault them for putting something they like on their Chanel...but i still think its a piss poor video that wasnt worth my time. i came to oats to enjoy the weird and visually interesting stuff they've produced...not some luke warm idea of "enticing" space video.
this seems like a commercial monsanto would put out about space
I really like your videos Oats. You produce some of the best on the Tube. Great FX and I like the name of the vehicle. Asimov like the scientist. Nice
Great narration - Would love to see a sequel that explored the habitat inside.
This is stunning, would love to see how you made this 👊🏻

O...M...G I completely forgot about this video. This’s just absolutely perfect, in every way man. Like seriously! I really can’t see anything wrong here. I soo wish this was available as a full shirt movie. Now that would deserve an award.😎👌🏼❤️
I love the music. Reminds me of the "Observer" game. R.I.P. Rutger Hauer.
Just to be clear, this is the film? It watches like a trailer to a film. I am familiar with short films, but this does not really tell a story, only teases one.
It was made by one guy so doing a whole story at this scale wouldve been insane
