Hermitcraft S10#5: Dispensing Deals & Frog Paths

2024 ж. 17 Нау.

Long episode... lots happens. I talk about some plans for the season. We build a quick dispensing station for our consumables. Big deals happen at the shopping district. We check out our flower farms and basalt generator.
I work on the pathing from our base that goes towards Tango's. We play Zedaph's drip stone mini-game and Bdub's scaffolding challenge. We upgrade our glass shops and look into our plans for the Frog Light shop. I also show off my completely normal and sane desktop set up.

    • Because moving your pinky from the A key to the left shift key is a distance of 1-2 keys (depending on how you count them). Moving your thumb from the spacebar to the shift key requires moving your thumb from the centre of the keyboard to the left side of where your left hand should be. It is, at minimum, a distance of 3 keys. Using your thumb for shift puts the image in my mind of a backwards hand... like your left hand is actually your right hand, your left thumb is on the left side of your left hand... rather than the right.@@j_edwards6075

    • @@j_edwards6075 open palm on your keyboard, Middle finger for W-S Ring finger for A-Q-Z, index for D-E-F etc Naturally, your thumb rests on spacebar, and your pinky should comfortably reach shift, CTRL can be a little uncomfortable with extended use but its no big deal. You’d have to uncomfortably tunnel your thumb below your palm to reach back to shift, which is otherwordly, but I know mumbo is gigantic so his hands probably reach more comfortably like that.

    • @@mauroghen9157 That's insane lol. Never heard of someone using anything other than their index finger for W, A, S, D. In the circumstance that I need to use both space bar and shift, where my thumb is typically always used for shifting, in this case I use it for the space bar while I use my middle finger for shift that way I can still use my index finger for whatever other button I need to. I must have gigantic hands as well lol

    • @@j_edwards6075 My 'home keys' are left pinky on shift (or control), ring finger on A, middle finger on W, index on D and thumb on space bar. Index finger never touches W, A, S or Q, but it does E, R, F, V, C, X and Z when needed. How do you do all of W, A, S and D with just your index finger when sometimes you need to press two of them at once?

  • I gotta say Etho doesn't even cross the midway point on weirdness when it comes to setups. Like its just cozy. I can literally see how he would be sitting and playing and it isnt half as weird. Like moving around the wasd keys is way weirder. God bless that Kleenex box for the years of Ethos voice it has been providing. Side note: I really wanna see Etho challenge Bdubs to the scaffolding thing again and use bamboo. Would be just too funny to scam the bamboo distributor with his own merchendise!

    • I still think Mumbo's is needlessly weird, he knows how to use his pinky for shift when space is needed but then reverts back to curling his thumb back over to shift? The pointlessness of this is by the weirdest thing to me. At least Ren and the others have some logic behind it
