  • after 2 years.....it helped me to allow and accept the sound (now 3 sounds). sometimes I have bad days then it is not sustainable. but that's part of it. What helped me is that a few times a day I started to concentrate purely on the tinnitus for 2 minutes. after that it wasn't so scary anymore. do this a few times every day. then you will be able to accept it better.

  • I do all these things but not the pillow I’ll have to look into it. Still if it’s very loud it keeps me up and I get agitated which keeps me awake.yes I use melatonin. Mine started when I had restless leg syndrome after stopping pain meds my doctor gave me and the meds made it worse so I went 3 months with 1 to 2 hours of sleep a night if I was lucky. That’s when it started and it hasn’t gone away after 2 years. I do t notice it as much or at all during the day usually. It does go away sometimes during the day. Some nights it’s really bad some not very loud and I can sleep.

  • My doctor told me to take melatonin to sleep better. I thought it wouldn't be enough to make a difference, but it has actually helped a lot. I've also started listening to music I like instead of my usual masking noises. I just focus on the song and go right to sleep... turn it back on if something wakes me up. I also decided on bad days to use ear plugs to separate my tinnitus from outside noise and just listen to it while I was trying to work, etc. This makes me feel calmer and more in control of the "noise" in my life. Normally, I stop consciously hearing the tinnitus and can focus on whatever I'm doing better. Might not work for everyone, but just accepting that it's there and doing these couple things has helped me quite a bit.

  • I have tinnitus in my right ear with hearing loss. I like crickets for masking, as that sound is similar to my tinnitus. However, I have to have them on REALLY LOUD to even hear the actual masking crickets over my tinnitus, so I asked my audiologist about how to deal with that, and she suggested I sleep with my hearing aid in. I feel like I have been sleeping more soundly like this.

  • I listen to cool/bebop, modern, or Ella Fitzgerald on my iPad by my right ear and old time radio on left ear. While trying to going to sleep, try to imagine the scenes of the old time radio in my head. Also, I do that when someone is breaking down a scene of a book, television show, or movie I’ve seen. Game of Thrones and Johnny Dollar of old time radio is working for me right now. When I get tired of something I move on to the next form of tv, movies, or music. I do wake up during the night, but that is only because I have chronic pain all over my body, mainly my lower back (L4 & L5).

  • Yes there are times my tinnitus has woken me up out of undisturbed deep sleep. Usually happens after I’ve been a loud social environment like indoor soccer practice with my kids and and arcade or group fitness class. I also notice my tinnitus is loud during mid afternoon and evenings. I am thankful to have somewhat of quit mornings! Wondering if ear plugs (like eargasm musician ear plugs) would help with the noise in social environments to help minimize the ringing once I’m away from that environment?

  • I have had tinnitus almost a year now. It's been hell. I can hear it over the TV, driving etc. Hi low hi low hi low high pitch hiss. I NEVER woke up at night before this. I truly feel it's neural hyperactivity and wakes us up. I've used melatonin, benadryl and am now on ambien. I still wake up after 3 to 4 hours. When the hell are they going to cure it with regulating the potassium channels in the brain? T is closely linked to the same channels as epilepsy in the brain and they have several studies showing it. Retigabine was working for some people but was discontinued for side effects. Yes Long comment, I'm very over this.

  • To answer your question, waking up for other reasons usually does not lead to additional difficulty falling asleep again. It is more rare now, but tinnitus used to wake me up like an alarm clock whenever my brain had just enough unconscious time to recognize the noise while I was asleep. Sometimes, it was too loud to sleep at all.

I don’t really hear it at all if it’s even there during the day but at night while sleeping I just wake with ringing pretty loud if I calm myself quick enough it can even stop within minutes or an hour or so. But is this normal for tinnitus I just don’t know what to think or do about this. Or if it will stop ever think it’s due to so much anxiety and stress I have about things in life

    • Depends on the dosage. Better question for your doctor. Usually mild dosage is ok.

      @treblehealth@treblehealth3 жыл бұрын
    • Because melatonin is a hormone that we should be able to produce ourselves and when you constantly put it into your body at random doses you're telling your body to stop producing it and then you become dependent on taking the pills and you fuck up your circadian rhythm. This happened to me this is my life now. Melatonin is in so many over the counter sleep aids and it's really reckless. It's also reckless that doctors refuse to give sleep medication to grown adults who don't have substance abuse histories who have tinnitus like it's literally reckless that someone like me can't get sleep medication. That no matter how sleep deprived I am it doesn't matter to these doctors and they can't even give a week of sleep medication or or a month just to help me literally function they can't do it this is not because not giving sleep medication is based in science we all know that the effects of sleep deprivation are severe this is really just a hyper reaction to the war on drugs that is really not appreciated that people with tinnitus should get sleep medication. And using melatonin for years on end will mess you up and create a situation where you need it for life or develop a lovely circadian disorder like the one I have and it's not like it's ever quiet during the day because the rent is too damn high and people are unkind and cruel and do not care about people who need to rest during the day whether they have tinnitus in our exhausted or if they're shift workers or anyone else so I really recommend you try to wean yourself off of the melatonin. congratulations.

The best I’ve found for me is this kzhead.info/sun/etFxn7p7o3aonZs/bejne.html If the sound pillow uses Bluetooth I’d definitely try it.

    @markblais7052@markblais70523 жыл бұрын
    • Mark, the Sound Pillow Sleep System is not Bluetooth because Bluetooth is not a perfectly stable signal. If the signal drops then reconnects in the middle of the night, it would likely wake you up (opposite of the purpose and goal). By having a stable signal, you can rest/sleep assured the needed sound will play all night long...uninterrupted.

    • Can we stop not being real and stop acting like sleep deprivation doesn't kill people? Can we actually stop acting like sleep deprivation is no big deal, like I love how doctors are like "I went to medical school and was sleep deprived because of capitalist culture structuring medical training in this way so because I'm a martyr everybody else should be a martyr too" and "join the club" and "what do you mean you're tired, just exercise more, tire yourself out" like could that attitude from doctors really stop because patients actually don't sign up to go to medical school and also don't sign up for the cult of fetishizing sleeplessness and sleep deprivation, that lack of sleep is really serious and the hesitancy to give sleep medication for people who have tinnitus and literally cannot sleep +even doing all these things that you mentioned in the video + is really criminal. I do everything that you discussed and it doesn't work. so I don't know why I'm being denied sleep medication for years on end, but why don't we just examine this culture of this idea that sleep deprivation isn't deadly when it actually is. so your answer to can tinnitus kill you: yes it can, through sleep deprivation. yes it can because I'm experiencing it right now, and the death through sleep deprivation is a really slow and agonizing death. it's not a fun death okay.
