The Canucks limited Connor McDavid in their Game 1 win over the Oilers on Wednesday, holding him shot-less for the first time in his playoff career. TSN Hockey analyst Cheryl Pounder breaks down if she believes Vancouver has found a way to defend McDavid or if it was just an off night for Edmonton's captain.
Will the Canucks be able to contain McDavid for the length of this series? Comment down below 👇
McDavid will absolutely get his looks, but if the Canucks can continue to make him skate the full 200 feet they’ll be able to prevent some more of his high danger chances. McDavid is all world and an absolute stud and someone who is that good you won’t be able to keep off the scoreboard completely.
0 shots for the first time ever in playoffs, you tell me.
Seems that way. It probably won't hold up but if you can even limit his chances to 3 or 4 low dangers a game at evens you're in business.
Not gonna happen
Yeah right 😂😂 first time he’s held shotless and all of sudden “ WEVE SOLVED MCDAVID!!”
Couldn't be Canucks team defence. Has to be Stuart Skinner checking McDavid's stick.
@@Mitch-ui8ps They did it the entire regular season too against McDavid.
You don’t wanna poke the bear see what happened in game 2😂
This aged well.
It did aftee game 3. Lol goose egg cross check.to.the face. He may snap game.4. But well take it😊
I mean they had a good game plan. But its a 7game series. I guess we'll find out.
4*
@@b-nanaman7986 I hate the oilers but I'm not underestimating anyone.
The team defence of the Canucks has been the most underrated part of these playoffs. Nashville and Edmonton rank TOP 3 in offence in the back half of the regular season.
And now the Oilers have scored 8 goals in 2 games.
So far, Edmonton's defense is just as successful, and that's even counting the 3-ish soft goals Skinner gave up in two games, versus Silovs standing on his head and nearly stealing game 2.
Hughes one of few guys in world can skate with McD
Hronek also stayed with him on a rush
Among forwards, Mikheyev is actually a guy that can skate just as fast as mcdavid in a straight line
Yah he just cant keep a puck on hia stick if his life depended on it@brianw3749
Mcdavid skated past them easily in game 2.. js
Not concerned about McDavid, but with Draisaitl + Henrique both injured/potentially out, the Oilers just wont have the depth to compete in this series. You're looking at multiple bottom 6 players that will need to be elevated to the 2nd line and their PP.
Seems to be a rough situation for draisatl. Zadorov is going to grind him down
They didn't have the depth to begin with and Van city still doesn't have Demko
This didn't age well...
@@chrisbeer9425 This didn't age well either...
@@rickpapineau5939 I think it aged very well. Despite having Drai and Henrique back in the lineup, it took the Oilers an OT goal to finally get a win. If Drai had been out for this game, that'll be the Canucks with a 2-0 series lead and likely a wrap.
We'll see... He's without a doubt the best player in the world at the moment. I loathe, absolutely loathe the Oilers, but damn McDavid is good and if the Canucks can contain him then they've got the series. That's a pretty big fricken "IF" though!
This is probably the best Canucks' fan comment about the Oilers I've seen this year. It's measured, reasonable, and supportive of your team while also acknowledging an undisputable fact. Thank you for raising the bar on sports discourse.
1PM TSN - Have the Canucks found a way to defend McDavid? 10PM TSN - McDavid crushes the Canucks with a 4-point night.
Just don’t give him power play. Oilers proved helpless last year against more discipline team.
But yet they only scored one pp goal?😂
@@Markymark-gg6qfand 2 fluffers
@@jaymsfvand the Canucks scored 3 fluffers
@@somerandomidiot1333 which ones? maybe one just because your goaltender fucking sucks
McD had a 1 off game...He will figure it out.
Even without McDavid, the Oilers found a way to score 4 goals but let up partway thru the 2nd period, leading ultimately to a defensive disaster. If the Oilers can be potent WITHOUT McDavid, just imagine if he's on his game. Of course TBD will be how the Canucks respond to having allowed 4 goals (some of them no doubt ugly ones Silovs allowed) during the same game.
@@wainber1 Sure it was 4 goals. But they were gifted 3 of them by Ian Cole being a completed dumbass.
Hes had atleast 4 off games against the canucks this year not including the one he missed
@@Eastvanucksanother off game by mcdavid tonight
And he did today
Yeah. The Tying Breakaway Goal really proves they totally have McDavid figured out then 4 points… lol
McDavid is a one man highlight reel……it’s his teammates that show up sometimes, but he is there all of the time!
4 points in game 2. Doesn’t look like they solved him to me 🤷♂️
Zero points in game.3
It has been one game.
quinn pocketed mcdavid lol
Who makes these dumb titles
Here after game 2. The answer to this question is: no
Here aftee game 3 after he layed a goose egg
The nhl version of “ the Jordan rules”
Oilers stopped playing and started thinking they are a good shutdown team (which they are definitely not). Expect 35 plus shots on net tonight. Oilers -1.5 Hyman over 2.5 shots Mcdavid min 2 points
Pretty close.
I like how talking heads jump into conclusions. It’s been just one game, Canucks didn’t win the cup. Chill
McDavid just needs to be reduced not vaporised
Smoking mcdavid kush vape
@@islandtime5074bros hating on mcdavid so hard
The rest of the Tem needs to take a step up, Draisaitl is hurt, Henrique is hurt. Step up everyone
Sorry tsn. Don’t need you to tell all of Canuck nation how good mc David is
Watch him drop 5 tonight
Defend McDavid? You beat his team lol! They have no defense or goalie, plus 29 is hurt! Lol everyone else is a pylon. 4 game sweep!!!
Crazy work😭😭
Oh hell nah ☠️
Alright calm down mate
11 hours later.. no they have not!!
Mcdavid needs to hold onto the puck more, he’s been in playmaking mode all season he needs to skate and shoot more.
Mcshoot the puck McDavid
Oh man there's alot of very dumb people once again setting themselves up to be embarrassed.
The glazing on canucks is crazy after one game
Yep lmao
😂😂😂
This is outdated in less then 24 hours
I just hope the Canucks don't win the cup. The natural order of things must be maintained. Toronto and Vancouver must always fail. It's for the good of Canada. The media won't shut up about it if they ever win.
These cities aren't even Canadian. Might as well be yankee teams
The Oilers will have a stranglehold on this series when it comes back to Vancouver for game 5 . The only reason Van won gm 1 was because their opponent let them up off the mat ....
We're 5-0 against you this season, playoffs or not, it still the same players on the team.
Lol the Canucks played their worst game of the playoffs and 2nd round Skinner showed up just in time. 😂 Ian Cole is responsible for the first 3 goals the Oilers scored alone. He won't be making those mistakes again. 5-0 kid, Oilers just can't match up. 🫡😊
Yaaaa you tell us Cheryl, your experience is where..... OHHH yaaa you had success in Womans Olympic Hockey..... You and Jennifer Botteril and Ron McClain should author a set of how to's of Hockey.... Watch and learn DARLIN' .... Watch and learn
