  • Jonathan Toews will always have my respect. Back during the lockout in 2012/13 I worked at a rink that Toews and a bunch of the Blackhawks and other NHLers that lived in/near Chicago rented out to practice/scrimmage together while the teams weren't officially practicing (if I remember correctly Toews was the one primarily organizing these pick-ups). The had about 4 or 5 of them over the course of a couple weeks. And though these were in the middle of the school/work day and though they were trying to keep things fairly quiet word had started to get out, and being a public rink people were coming by to watch. This was middle-of-dynasty prime Blackhawks so people were pretty excited about this when they found out. The first one had only a dozen or so spectators, but by the time the last one rolled around, there must've been between 150 and 200 people (maybe more) that showed up to watch. Now some of the other guys would sneak out the back door to try and not deal with the fans/crowd, but each time Toews left through the front door and talked to/signed autographs/took pictures with EVERY. SINGLE. FAN. that wanted to meet him. That last day he must've stuck around for almost 2 hours after he got off the ice just being there for the fans with a smile on his face the entire time. That impressed me as much as his skills on the ice. Class act.

  • Man, every time ex-Blackhawks players talk about Toews, I think he was literally born to be a captain. The stories about interactions or instances with him always seem to have impacted his ex-teammates on a deep, personal level because he makes people feel seen, regardless of their position on the team. What a great guy. I hope we get to see him play again one day but if not I do hope he’s enjoying life and getting healthy again.

  • I was pleasantly surprised by this content. I was just reminiscing the other night with my dad about the first time i saw an NHL player. It was during a game in our small town arena and Greg Terrion who played for Toronto and came back to his home town to play as a guest on one of the teams just for fun... I remember hearing his skates on the ice sounded like he was carving through the ice and he made every player i thought was hot stuff look like literal babies. He was basically untouchable with the puck and he was just an average player in the NHL. The next time i saw him was when he got a team organized for a baseball tournament. Him and his brothers were on a team... Everytime these boys stepped up to the plate... Smuck! Without any effort homerun into the river... To see professional atheletes play sports even for fun... They are like on a different planet. So respect for being able to play at that level...

As fans, our perspective of players is based on what we see on the ice and occasionally what we read in articles so it's really cool to hear personal, human experiences from someone who has actually played with them rather than a journalist. Not just the players tho, I feel like I learned a bit about you as a person navigating and playing the NHL and meeting different people. Just awesome stuff man, hope life continues to bring you more awesome experiences no matter where they are 🙏

I watched Gretzky's play as a Ranger, fist bumps with the Bure brothers, and Worrell. You know we don't have many down to earth personalities in professional hockey. You get the same interview answers "We have to just keep moving the puck uhh stay hard on the forecheck uhh dig deep and play hard for 60 minutes" so getting to hear from guys like you, Biz, PK, and Weeksy that have amazing communication skills and story telling is dope as hell. Good luck with your YT side stuff, hope it blows up! If you don't mind some constructive feedback, here are some thoughts: - for a longer vid, might help to insert the chapters so us viewers could navigate and re-watch their favorite parts and what not - keep it real like you did with this one, don't sacrifice quality for click-bait or overly-flashy stuff even if YT favors those. In the long run, it'll earn your viewer's loyalty - don't give up! props to you for putting yourself out there and trying this. • I grew up loving all sports but a casual hockey fan. This last year, i became neighbors with many hockey players and ended up buying season seats to support them. It's now officially my favorite sport! Love the fans and truly respect the men who play the game, bruised and battered, yet come home to walk their pups or kids with a genuine smile on their face! Class acts!

I had the honour of meeting both Doan and Iginla back in summer 97 in Kamloops at the pro-am games, and BOTH of those guys were the same humble down to earth guys early in their NHL careers as they were 10 to 20 years later in the twilights of their careers that everyone saw on tv. A memory ill never forget. Props to you on making the show yourself and having a lifetime of memories to share with fans who grew up dreaming to do the same thing as you. 👊
