I’ve always wondered why there isn’t a ‘light’ based type if dark exists. I know it makes sense in Japan that Fairy is strong against Dark/Evil but I can’t stop thinking that the opposite of dark isn’t a type itself.
Dark types are scrappy, underhanded fighters, but fighting types have actual martial arts and tend to be more heroic.
What would lights weakness be?

You know, the Fairy type actually makes a lot of sense compared to some of the others, especially if you consider that fairies were pretty much just slightly cuter monsters... Strike that. Some of them were just ugly monsters, too. Makes way more sense than Flying beating Fighting or Bug

Gen 1 being optional? I always remember him stopping you and making you talk to him the first time to have to sit through the catch tutorial. You could opt to not rewatch then fight missingo. Leon isnt as completely dumb as a box of rocks and you get tutorial as needed. Other tutorials you can opt out of. Not sure which gen FINALLY introduced that, Oak asks in one intro if youve played before if i remember right.

The Dark-type doesn't actually represent darkness, it represents evil. In fact, the Dark-type is called the Evil-type in Japan. As a result, Lunala being weak to Dark is not as ironic as you might think. Additionally, Solgaleo and Lunala are not actually the sun and moon themselves, but rather extremely powerful aliens that Alolans have just associated with the sun and moon.

Oluf The Explorer it’s not THAT bad It has some good Pokémon It has a dark type gym They expanded on regional Variants by giving them new evolutions Snom It brought back the jerk rival(Bede) It has great starters They gave gen 5 Pokémon more attention (3 gen 5 evolutionary lines having Galarian forms and giving some like garbodor a gigantamax form) And it doesn’t force you into a “how to catch a Pokémon” tutorial Just because it has no regional dex or it’s a bit easy,which isn’t that true it took me forever to beat Leon and the other main story battles can be tough,doesn’t mean it’s that bad of a game

The dark typing and fighting type make more sense in the Japanese games, where dark = evil. Evil is known to lose in a fight, y'know? But in English it just doesn't make sense, haha.

Yeah, but psychic's weakness to dark makes less sense in Japan. Most of psychic's weaknesses are common fears like bugs are ghosts since fear could conceivably mess with a psychic's concentration or some junk like that. In English that theme continues as a lot of people are afraid of the dark, whereas evil, as a more nebulous concept, is not such a common fear. So either way, type match ups as a whole don't make much sense.
Grins Mckenzie I never understood why Water isn't resistant to Ice. Even the coldest places on the planet, the polar ice caps, have liquid water everywhere. And I always thought Bug was weak to Poison because of pesticides being a thing, but apparently Poison does neutral damage.
