E92 M3 Throttle Actuators Replacement (Failed at 34,000 Miles)
So as most of you already know, the Throttle Actuators on my E92 M3 failed at an astonishing 34,000 miles. I was surprised when I first felt the car acting weird on cruise control when driving up to the Bay, and I thought to myself it couldn't really be the actuators already... Sure enough, 5 minutes later the car went into limp mode.
So what did I do? I flew Mike, the Owner of Precision Dynamics down in Costa Mesa up to the Bay! It worked out perfectly. I have wanted him to visit me for over 2 years now, and this just fell into place. He came up and fixed my actuators the next day and then we were able to spend the long weekend together out on the boat and around the Bay.
Truong, you've done so much for me and I am eternally grateful for our close friendship. I loved having your and your wife up here. Thank you again for everything and I'll see you very soon!
Ladies and Gentlemen, please check out Precision Dynamics for all your service needs for any car. Rod Bearings, Throttle Actuators, Fuel Breather valve, Exhaust installs etc. They do everything and work on all cars, exotics, BMW's, Mercedes, Audi.

Mike's the dream mechanic we all need close by
right!! I feel so vulnerable when I'm not in SoCal close to him and his shop!
Glad its back on the roads again, looking forward to more videos. Love the quality and your downshifts are the meanest in the world. Keep it up man
thank you I appreciate that!! I'm so happy it's back, I can't wait to get more videos out. I have so much I need to catch up on, so plenty of content coming!! Thanks for the kind words
@@wettm3 any time my man, thanks for replying 🤟🏽
Replacing mine myself tomorrow for the first time, nervous but exited too! Thanks for the install video 🙌
My actuator just failed in the first day when the temperature hits low 10F. Did some research and found this is the best video I could find across the net for the replacement DIY. Much appreciated to you and the Mechanic MAESTRO Mike.
Thanks Rikki,I appreciate it!🤗
Nice footage, really help to let us understand our engine structure.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Sick car! Glad its back on the roads
thank you!!
Good Job Mike, good video N. Nice to see a detailed video.
Glad you liked it! thanks for watching 😁
Excellent video !
Great video, That Milwaukee Ratchet is my favorite tool .
haha its a trooper for sure!!
''LOL that E85 startup though"
haha right! Thanks for watching!
These engines are like plane engines, NA, will tick over for 300,000 miles if looked after, pretty incredible the acts went at 34,000! Get those done and the rods and these engines are bullet proof, mines an 08 on 108,000 rods and acts changed voluntarily at 84k.
great work !
Thank you!!
Mike is Goated! 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Was hoping to see some secret trick to disconnect that hose that sits at the back of the plenum. It almost drove me crazy. I had to use a heat gun and squeeze the living hell out of that clip. Eventually I got it off and as a bonus a tingling sensation in my fingertip for several days... so that's my amateur pro trick; us a heat gun! Love that color, the rims, the stance... just beautiful
haha that's awesome, too funny 😂 thank you for the kind words!
that sounds so good!
thanks!
That guy is really talented!
he's awesome
Thanks for sharing this information and so cool to see @TruongMikeMai was able to come up and assist 👊🏽💯 Having removed the plenum to replace spark plugs before, it’s just a few more bolts to remove to get to and remove the actuators. Easy day for this DIY…I hope 😉🙌🏽
Keep us posted on how it went.
Glad it was helpful! thanks for watching! 😁
Very informative!!!
thanks for watching! glad it was helpful
that bird was on beat for a minute
😁
One of the best tutorial videos i've seen. Mike really knows what he's doing
15:35 I’m surprised you wouldn’t get that side marker delete painted to match…
doesn't bug me too much anymore since it kinda goes with the wheels, but might play around with swapping it in the future
so sick! what skill truong has!! 👑
yes! he's awesome
You should definitely check out the Eventuri Intake Plenum for this car
that'd be sweet!
@wettm3 do you have a link to the battery you installed?
Does your tune keep all monitors ready?
That E85 start up
Thanks for watching!!
Lol that e85 startup tho 😂😂😂🥴🥴
as a mustang owner this will come in handy when i need to change my throttle actuators on my non existent bmw
Is it essential to disconnect the battery?
This man owns an e92 and doesn't even have the balls to replace his own throttle actuators XD
? Cuz it’s a unreliable car or what
I didn't want to do it plus he'd do it in a fraction of the time lol
@@duck8280 hella. Still might get one though lol
Why. Is buying an M3 making you a mechanic automatically? Is there a manual that comes with the car to get you to be proficient in servicing your vehicle?
@@rosinor6406 You don't have to be a mechanic, anyone who is into cars should know how to do basic repairs and maintenance, that's half the fun of owning cars
LOL tha e85 startup though
Thanks for watching!!
I really want an E92 or E90 in manual after I build my accord! Shoutout your channel for the content
do it!! and thank you!
Was the check engine light u had related to the throttle actuators after the job was complete?
we hadn't cleared it yet, just testing
Lol, that E85 start up though
Thanks for watching!
I want a E90 manual so bad but they are impossible to find ): Gotta watch these vids to fill the void lol
haha I appreciate the kind words, glad you enjoy the videos!
I have 180,440 on my S65 and dont need these yet. Good motors and they LOVEEE TO REV. The only thing they go through is gas and tires
wow that's impressive!!
@@wettm3 Yeah but i dont rev it like you that much. I only shift around 3000 and 4000 mostly. It has enough power for everyday driving. Very comfortable and drives so stable .
Having a used BMW is like having a house mortgage but you living in the car
Mike rockin some yeezys
my man was just flexing on me!!
Actuators are common replacement for e92 and it must be replaced at around 10km ~
that e85 startup though
thanks for watching!! 😁
lol that e85 startup though
haha right, Thanks for watching!
What does this cost to do at precision dynamics?
not sure what they charge in house since I got special treatment in the form of a house call hahaha
Damn bro that’s just bad luck lol I’m at 130k with my s65 and still no actuator issues rod bearings already replaced though
wow that's crazy! keep em running strong
Maybe you don’t floor it all the time like wettm3 does and your have lasted longer without the abuse.
@@FishFind3000 I would agree with you if I didn’t beat the piss out of my M3 lol I only drive it fast every time I drive it the only way they should be driven 🤷🏽♂️👍🏽
@@chalatan16 yessir! Drive em hard or not at all, after it’s warmed up of course haha
Not actuator learning ? 🤔
i think it's safe to say that you drive this car agressively....
Mine failed at 40k and again at 115k - hopefully they make it to 200k
😍❤❤❤❤🇯🇴
Why not use the up-rated version of the throttle actuators?
its either new like mine or rebuilt with different pieces
I'm replacing mine at the moment, 4500 bucks. I just hit 56000 mi, 2011 e93 m3.
This kind of stuff is so fuckin cool lol
glad you enjoy it!
Still stock I’m surprised
Might I ask why you didn't do the metal gear conversion?
I wanted new ones
Why do you always have wood in your trunk 😂
This milwaukee ratchet let u adjust with specifics torque spec on each socket??
fuck no lol
No
19:25 hahaha
🙃
Merci 👍👍🙏🇺🇸🇵🇹
😁
Just got mine done at 63K miles and next is rod bearing.
nice!
Car had some bad poop after not going for 2 weeks 😂
haha yuup
This shit just happened to my E90 M3
