Hey guys welcome back to my channel and todays video, where Im going to go over some of the most mind bending, dizzying, aka confusing levels in every single Super Mario Bros entry, telling you exactly why they made this list and whats makes them so. Hope yall like, comment, enjoy, subscribe and hit the bell!
0:13 “However it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.” *Proceeds* *to* *show* *a* *clip* *from* *Super* *Mario* *Sunshine.*
Also, the level of the water in wet/dry world in SM64 is affected by where you jump into the painting. Surprised that wasn't brought up 12:25
I find Rainbow Ride in 64 very confusing as well. The fact that if you're not standing on a carpet for a certain amount of time, it'll disappear and you're basically stranded if you're in the wrong place so you have no choice but to jump into the void and start over
I feel for first time players on Super Mario 64 that Hazy Maze Cave will be the most confusing despite the map at the start. For Super Mario Galaxy, Matter Splatter Galaxy easily can get more confusing. With Super Mario Galaxy 2, Boo Moon Galaxy is the more confusing dark haunted theme level. As for any green stars on their own, figuring out the correct way to get a certain green star in Flipsville Galaxy is confusing in its own way.
Hazy maze cave still confuses me
I'd say that the level "Mysterious Hotel Delfino" from sunshine has got to be the most confusing by far. I'm not sure how anyone would figure it out without a guide or help
I was looking through the comments to see if someone else had thought this! I couldn't figure that one out for the life of me until I gave up and looked up a walkthrough
Technically world 2's castle in new super mario bros wii does give you a hint on where to go if you pay attention. The star coin in the middle path above you at the start gives you the hint that you need to take the middle path for the first section to collect it The first section also has a platform lift that goes all the way up to the top path, hinting that you need to take the lift up to get to the top path. The second section gives you a fire flower with the bottom path being blocked by enemies, hinting that you need to kill the enemies to take the bottom path. And the last section has the middle path blocked by blocks with a P-switch at the start of that section that can turns those blocks into coins, hinting that the middle path is the correct one.
Not a mainline Mario game, but I will never forget Super Paper Mario 5-1, a level where you get all the way to the end where you reach a block puzzle that requires a code to pass. The only way to get the solution is to backtrack all the way to the start of the level, type the word "please" in 5 separate times to an NPC, and then he'll give you the TWENTY inputs you have to do in order to proceed. You have to write it down on paper because there's no way you're memorizing it. Or just look it up lol. Definitely confused me as a kid though
You mention the clock hand on TTC, but not the water level vs entrance height on the painting in WDW? For those who may not know, if you enter Wet Dry World at the very bottom of the painting then the water level will be at its lowest. Adversely if you enter at the top of the painting the water level will be at its highest. Meaning the height at which you enter the painting determines which crystal is active for the water level.
So many SMB3 levels getting mentioned plays into what I was telling a friend yesterday after I did a 100% run: towards the end, SMB3 starts to overstay its welcome
Definitely.
Nah. Just World 7.
In fairness, when you have a game with 90 levels, you can only rely for so long on straightforward level designs before requiring more complex ones in order to increase the challenge. It doesn't happen with other Mario games because there are fewer levels in them overall. I know by experience because I made 120 levels in Mario Maker 2 (only 60 in the first because the other 60 were for downloaded levels in the Coursebot, as they shared slots), and by the time I was making the 61st I ran out of ideas with the classic-style designs (at that point I had no more new course parts to introduce since the 3.0 update wasn't announced yet), so I began making levels with more complicated designs
@skc4188 that's understandable, I just think of in SMB3 the reward for exploring and finding secrets are warp whistles to skip ahead. In SMW the reward is bonus levels
@@MCastleberry1980that's... actually a really good point lol, i haven't thought about that before
Thank you for pumping out every possible Mario idea for new videos! They’re perfect entertainment when eating something. Brings me back to my childhood
Deep dark galaxy in smg1 had me going insane when i was younger
I'm surprised the level you have to find a pineapple for Yoshi in Hotel Delfono isn't on here. That one confused me so much as a kid. That pianta who blocks the swimming pool really pushed my buttons
Hot take: NSMB2 is my favorite of its subseries. Out of all the NSMB games, I had the most fun with the levels in this one, and I found the coin stuff to be satisfying. I never did any of the DLC though
Yeah, while NSMBDS is my favorite, this is my second favorite. While it didn’t introduce much to the series, I genuinely enjoyed its level design, and it just has a way more smoother feel to it for..some reason. I also think that the graphics in this game are the best out of the series, which only adds to the experience.
I started playing super Mario Brothers when I was ten in 1985-86. When myself and my sister finally got to 7-4 we thought we broke the game
"One thing you can usually count on from the super mario series is simplic easy to understand gameplay" *_Super Mario Maker existing_*
yes but that's a spin off, it's not cannon. It's just every video game fan's dream.
@@Ibalistic_hedge It's called a *joke.*
Wet dry worlds water level can also be changed depending on how high you jump into the painting. Doing this makes some stars far easier to get
Nice video. You do a good job with your videos. And your honest. I really like that!!
Have you ever made a best ghost house level? If not you should
Copycat's "AT ALL" count: 6
6:41 what's more confusing is the fact that the original had brick walls in the background and they removed them, making the level more confusing.
I feel like a level you should’ve included in the Super Mario Wonder section 24:03 would be Secrets of Shova Mansion. More specifically it’s wonder flower section. This actually got me the first time I played, for I didn’t realize you had to push the wall back. And even then, the layout while you are pushing the wall is quite confusing in a way. Other than that, I do agree with the search party section. Those are the only spots in the game where I actually have to search up a guide.
What about the level that makes you purposely fall into what you assume is a death pit
@@panampacedeath pits have drop shadows, that one doesnt
@@panampaceno, not just not having a drop shadow, it also has the background of the cave you just came out of poking out above it *and* you get to see the Purple Coin has an open roof when the rest of the cave doesnt.
In wet dry world the water level changes on how high you jump into the painting
The final level in nsmb ds is also confusing bc it has a section with endless corridors where you have to choose the right path like in nsmb wiis world 2 castle.
I love how this is basically just “Here’s every time a Mario level had bad game design”
Some of those levels sound brutal. Getting sent back one or two rooms, or coming back up in a fake pipe would be annoying, but being set all the way back to the start... 😅😅😅
Lol. I remember playing all 3 original mario games during the years they were out and popular. I didn't get them brand new no. But they had just come out. Anyway, all 3 games have secrets and i remember mario 1 castles not being too difficult to figure out but Mario 2 and 3 amped the secrets and confusion up alot. Lol. Hes right. The last level in Mario 2 (usa version) takes a while to learn if youve never played it before. And as far as Mario 3 goes? Lol. Fuck world 7! 🤣
My stupid ass getting stuck in Lost Kingdom, as I didn't recognise the ground-pound symbol on the stairs. I think that was the only time I looked something for that game up
For super Mario bros u in the soda jungle ,deep woods area there are 2 levels you can only beat by finding the secret exit and you will not be able to proceed if you don’t
In SM64's Wet-Dry World, the stars where you have to go into the town are particularly confusing, because the water level you start with, depends on the height you enter the picture, and to find the way to the town you have to go into the level at the very top. There's no other way because there are no switches of that height in the main area. However it's a very interesting and different level with ominous vibes, I love it.
No mention of 8-Final Castle in NSMBDS?
8:15 When I play this level, I press the P switch while the coin trail is running so I can ascend the blocks and steer visually. Cool video!
19:27 Oh dear god, this level is annoying when I was playing nsmb deluxe, luckily I completed it, thanks, you have the tutorial
I love nsmb2. It was the first mainline mario game I ever played.
I love your videos man. So informative
The tick tick clock mechanic was awesome
Old Mario games just have ridiculous puzzles
Old Nintendo games have ridiculous puzzles to extend the playtime
New Super Mario Bros. 2 is actully my favorite Mario Game
It never occurred to me how much pick-a-path was in the Mario series
I actually don't mind new Super Mario Bros 2 . And there is Another level that's confusing. It's another ghost house in the special world.Where you have to hit switches and if you pick the wrong one You can't get all the star coins.
Loved the video! But I gotta tell you that 20:05 is pronounced "mer-rang". You know the fluffy white stuff made from egg whites. Don't get me wrong, it's not my intent to be mean, it just bothered me was all. Much love.
For the sunshine lilly pad level, you can walk on the railing back to the start and try again to collect any coins you missed! Still a tough level but this helps a lot. I also found the wall breaking star in whomps fortress really confusing as a kid.
Yeah 6-1 of SMB2 had me stuck for ages. 7-2 just had 2 straight paths though. Dunno what you're on about.
I’m gonna guess luncheon for odyssey… I always get lost whenever I play that level
SMBW wasn't from this year...
It has not been a full 12 months since SMBW came out… Hope this helps
Chocolate island 2 is super interesting lvlv
copycat: the most confusing mario galaxy level is the final of the main game, bowser's dark matter plant me: bowser's dark matter plant isn't the final level💀
Came into the comments looking for this 😆
Same
That one Ghost House in Valley of Bowser on SMW I've never done "properly"; i always try and crouch and fly into the hole lol
If you’re gonna include Yoshi’s Island in your videos, why not go ahead and include the rest of the mainline Yoshi series? I think that just includes 7 games: Yoshi’s Island(1995/2002), Story(1997), Topsy Turvy(2004), Island DS(in 2006), New Island(in 2014), Woolly World(in 2015/2017), and Crafted World(in 2019).
Yoshi’s Island is a part of the Super Mario series while the other Yoshi games aren’t. In fact the original Yoshi’s Island is called Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
6:58 Another level which would confuse the heck out of me in this game would be World 8-2, in which you have to hit a specific block to trigger the vine, which leads to the flagpole and way out of the level!
I've recently been playing through new super mario bros 2 and I can totally agree with the choice made for this video
The puzzles castles from the originals are the worst.
Mega Drive game Sonic 3 has a notoriously confusing zone: Marble Garden. It takes the player 8 of the 10 minutes to find the goal post and Robotnik in the second act. Sonic 2's one confusing zone is Metropolis, which isn't all that bad. It's not just Super Mario Bros. levels that can be confusing.
Some of the medals in sonic unleashed are flipping confusing. Like one of the sun medals in jungle joyride day act 1. Flipping have to go behind an island that you’d think would be out of bounds. I mean, I love unleashed, but that’s just ridiculous! Oh and Labyrinth zone in sonic 1, enough said💀
4:42 You mean the first mini-fortress.
Your name isn't Copycat. It's probably Randolph Swinton.
The second star in Ghostly Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy 2 has a maze that still confuses me to this day. The first star in that galaxy has the same maze, but it’s not nearly as confusing
Ghostly Galaxy is in Galaxy 1, not 2
@@generalcrab0009 oh I meant Boo Moon Galaxy
How the HELL do you have 86 lives in SMB 2!?
Mer-in-gay
what about switch block mansion
1:18 Yes, 7-4 is the most confusing level of the game!
cool
But DK was the first mario game tho
Marengay 😂
Cape Flower? It’s called a Cape Feather.
05:18 it’s 2024, you can’t just say that dude.
1:37 But 8-4’s code isn’t simple compared to 7-4’s.
The floodless levels and shit sandburd
Can you do a video ranking the mario games from the shortest to the largest because there is a website on google call how long to beat where they talk about how long some videogames takes
So close I got so close. I got so close. In smb1.
DUDE 33 SECONDS AGO
Super Mario Bros Wonder released in 2023, not 2024
Lel
Yoshi's Island? You skipped it? Why?
No, he didn't, it's at 10:39.
Yoshi's Island is the first true Yoshi game
No he didn't skip yoshi's island he skipped yoshi's new island 😭
I smell a terrible content farm.
Nice video copycat
Can i get pinned
Copycat can you please stop saying how bad nsmb2 is it was the first mario game i had i was so happy when i was 7yo and now i see that everyone hates it do you pls say in upcoming video's that how easy it is fore a mario game instead of how bad it is
Please find a new way to talk about the games and introduce new sections for your videos
Stop begging for likes and subscribers at the end, or even worse, at the beginning of every video. Nobody thinks Oh yes, I forgot that subscribing is a thing that I can do. That's now how it works. If you really feel the need to promote your channel in your videos (which is stupid btw, stop doing that) then you can ask the viewer to check out some of your other videos.
You and Odyssey Central upload at the same time
