The most powerful and valuable escape from mount position is definitely the elbow escape and it’s variations. In this video, we look at the specific details of how and when best to apply this escape. Additionally, we look at counters to common obstacles the top opponent might use.

My pleasure and I appreciate you watching and the kind words!

Very thorough, methodical explanations here, Eli! Great video!
Great video! You a great job of explaining the why as much as the how.
I grabbed some useful details to add to my game thank you !

Great detail as always
White belt here, just started 2 days ago and have a wrestling back ground but lack the flexibility to sweep the ankle so this I will definitely apply thank you for the video.
This is GOLD!!! Thank you!
One of the best instructions I watched on yt about this technique. Thank you. Excellent channel.

Very important. Thanks Eli.
I have been trying to find a channel where techniques are teached, but with a moving opponent. Pleaseee! Thanks!
Nice!
Interesting!
Very informative! Could you go over a mount escape when the top is punching?
I’ve gotten that question a lot over the years on this and other mount escape videos. I’ve made several other videos addressing that concern, including this one: Escaping Mount Vs Punching Opponent kzhead.info/sun/gtCoYNuLmoGpqWg/bejne.html

I know it dropped only 20 mins ago but can we get the likes up
Likes seems to have become a much less done habit ever since youtube hid the dislike count.
Can you use hands like frame style instead of elbow ? Personnaly i'm very short and I dont feel like my elbow is enough to push a leg
Using the hand instead of elbow initially presents more opportunity for the underhook for the top person which can lead to arm and choke attacks. It saying never, but usually it’s not a good idea.
The thumbnail man 😂😂😂 but it is good information
I really struggle with getting my arms into position at the opponents waist in the 1st instance. Is there a technique to this or is it just brute force??
It they are high and you can't fit your hands in you may have to wiggle yourself out to make room. You could also bride up, hold, then put your hands on the hips when they are balancing in the air, then drop down and make whatever adjustments. Another option is to wrap your outside arm around their back, and the other arm or elbow depending on how close they are on the knee that you will be pushing into guard.. At least these are my opinion I'm sure he could tell you better
He talks about this in the 3rd variation or are you looking for something else?
I think is easier to bridge escape for the sake of using less energy for outlasting opponent
👍🏻
Is this your preferred way to play this spot? I usually go straight into half guard since the underhook is right there. You’ve forgotten more about BJJ than I know, just curious what the pros/cons are to working towards butterfly versus it *seems* like halfguard is closer?
I also prefer half guard. I was mainly concentrating on full guard replacement for this video to keep it basic, but I definitely prefer half guard myself.
Do you think we’ll ever get that hour long side control escape vid back👀👀
Haha, I removed that right before my side control escape instructional came out. Also, there was actually a website that had ripped that video and was selling it for like $35 even when it was free on KZhead. So I took it down publicly.
@@KnightJiuJitsu makes sense. I watched the elbow push part religiously
Are you selling apparel now Eli? I signed up for a year. Can you make sure everything went through.
Hey Scott! The only apparel stuff I have are the shirts listed below the video from my teespring account. Where did you sign up at?

Great advice, but I am sure there is a joke about not wanting to escape….😂

You're starting to look more like Brandon every day 😂. For real though good video.
Woulnt the first 10 seconds of your elbow positioning leave you exposed to exequiel choke and a whole bunch of different choke techniques?? Plus leaving that elbow trapped for longer than a second allows someone(not a White belt) to Just jump on your neck for a reverse triangle and a whole other set of techniques im sorry but this is something i woulnt do unless im Rolling with a White belt other than that very good explanation of the move itself. Humble opinión from a purple belt
This shouldn’t take anywhere close to 10 seconds. I have to take time to explain things. This is a standard elbow escape used at all levels. I’m not sure what else to say, but it works for white to black belts. Nothing is completely indefensible, but you have to make space and moves to advance position.
as usual, i came after 30 secs. make shorter videos, guys.
her body is very distracting im lookin at her more than paying attention to wat u are saying coach can u get a dude parnter next time
That sounds like a you problem if you can’t concentrate on the technique because you can’t handle seeing a pretty girl. Are you 12 years old?….

@@KnightJiuJitsu lol we did elbow escape in drills today i forgot how to do it again came back to the channel forgot about this comment i thought the same thing again 😆 No im just a simple man who likes woman . I know im not the only one thinking this im just the only one who said it.
