I really like these two fighters. This match is a concert by two artists. Andy won, but in this match, the result was the last thing that interested me .... I watch over and over again. There's everything in that match. Beauty, courage, reason and dexterity. That's what sport is about, but so is life.
There's nothing Nice when someone hit your face and kick your legs being only a fan it's very safe.
I used to work for sam greco. He's definitely a great man. Sam said andy hug was the most hardest one to fight. They swear to be brothers anyway. I just wanna talk to him tomorrow as I'm watching this video :)
Sam Greco owns a restaurant around the corner from where I live and I see him quite often as I am a delivery driver for the area. He's a funny guy!

Hug is a machine. Disadvantaged in size, strength, reach and genetics but won that clearly. Every time Sam connected solidly Hug immediately stole back the momentum with a flurry.
Andy had some amazing genetics. Dude was a fucking athlete. Throwing kicks the way he does requires a special talent.
@@Notenoughwin Exactly!! I don't know where that guy got the idea Hug had bad genetics or was at a physical disadvantage in any way. Just because one fighter is bigger than another doesn't mean the smaller fighter has bad genetics or has any particularly more difficult challenge to overcome.

Andy was a good fighter but just 1.80 a bit small for heavyweight. Anyway great to watch the old k1 fights!!
He defeated many bigger, heavier and high quality fighters like Mike Bernardo, Jerome Le Banner, Ernesto Hoost, Peter Aerts, Sam Greco, Mirko Filipovic,.....

This is my all time favorite K-1 fight. Both guys are so good. Sam hits harder while Andy is more nimble. Beautiful technical fighting between two well matches opponents.

@@mrdaredevil781 Just Greco making a pun on Hug's name. They competed against each other in Knockdown Karate some 5-10 years before this fight and they've competed in K-1 a few times since so they're probably fairly familiar with each other.

andy has too many combinations that connected compared to sam. sam i believe is more powerful than andy but he can not use it because of andy's speed. i agree with the judges. a good fight. thanks for sharing.

Andy's hits connected a lot better than Greco's on average. He may have hit a little less, but when he hit, it hurt hard. Andy also blocked many of Greco's hits well. In the first round definitely Hug won that one. 2nd round it was about even. 3rd round it was about even. So since Hug won the first round unquestionably, I would give it to hug. Close fight though.

In the last 3 days I have been watching all K-1 mach on KZhead bcs I'm at home for the Covid -19 and I have enjoyed very much to see Ernest Hoost , Mike Greco , Mirko Co.Cop , Jerome Le Banner and of course Andy Hug . I checked all of them also on Wikipedia to see their age , more or less me and them have same age and me too when I was young I start with art martial (Taekwondo) , nice art also but I wasn't a champion unfortunately ! I'm very sad to find out Andy Hug passed away very young , for me in these few days he was the number one in K-1 , Karate , Kick boking ……. I couldn't be live when I saw the date of his Birthday " Zurich, 7 September 1964 - Tokyo, 24 August 2000 " I thought a mistake but when I checked well I really felt very sad . I watched also his documentary , he was the best athlete and I think until now nobody is better than him , he could be again and again champion . Now he is a " Legend " I hope to see a movie about him like another Legend I feel sorry is Mike Shumaker also is unbelievable what happen to him . I hope he Rest In Pece and from the Heaven is looking his family with smile , as his fan I give my respect and pray for him , he wrote a message to his fans when he got the result from the Doctor , he said : "Dear Fans, I think that you will be shocked when you hear in what state of health I am. When the doctor told me about it, it was an enormous shock even for myself. But I want to inform you about my state of health so that I can fight together with you against this illness. This illness is the most severe opponent of all my fights. But I will win. As if I would stand in the ring I will get power from your cheers and beat this strong opponent. Unfortunately I will not be able to fight at the tournament in October. I will fight against this illness in Japan and one day I will appear again with you. Don't lose hope! Greetings, Andy Hug" - The message Hug posted to his fans on the internet on August 22, 2000, after learning of his illness Just now I know about how great was him and after 21 years I'm really shocked like he thought about his fan when will hear about his health . We never know when our time comes , we have to be strong and don't be afraid to pass away specially in this time , I'm sure we see again with our dears friends , relatives and like he said " one day I will appear again with you. @TheNowIsTheMoment I think that's becouse most of the times to enjoy mma you do not need to know the rules or the tecniques...while in K1, like in Kickboxing, Karate, Judo etc. you need to know the rules, the scoring system, and the techniques in advance to really enjoy it... Take Lyoto Machida...he was considered a quite boring fighter in UFC, however his Shotokan Karate was unbelievable, and only people knowing Karate could really appreciate his techniques...
