If you want to see her now, here she is with 4 of her 5 children! kzhead.info/sun/Z9GDhaicjqeJomw/bejne.html
As a fellow Utahan, I just have to say that I would have guessed she and those kids were from here. There's a weird number of super blonde, cute kids from large families around here. I married a non-mormon guy here and we had one of those super blonde kids, even though nobody in either family looks like that. It's something in the water.
Wait, who are you and what's your relationship with these performers?
@@pjb8295 I am Jenna's mom. :)
@@1fairygodmother beatiful and a wonderful performer. Hope she is still at it
I have to say, I started watching this, expecting an above-average H.S. production and really, they performed this with top-notch, professional talent. When one considers that the Chicago version this was modeled after was the FILM, which gets plenty of practicing, effects, takes and edits, this truly IS an excellent, incredible performance! Ms. Barrowes went the extra mile to BE the puppet in this piece. I don't know how she kept her dinner down! :) And Mr. Andrus' voice was an outstanding baritone throughout that coupled with the right amount of exuded confidence required for the part. The ONLY negative in all of this was an auditorium/sound system that didn't deserve that level of talent.
The girl that plays Roxy has got INSANE physical acting chops, like honestly top drawer
Exactly??? And only in highschool!!
Agreed 0.0
On the level of most professional performances
She’s fantastic, so is he though
Both her and him do this number better than some professional productions!
This actually IS phenomenal. His vocals, her acting, and you can tell they really trust each other - wouldn’t have worked so well if they were less comfortable with each other.
Right? They have excellent chemistry
Agreed, they are able to work together much better than most high schoolers.
How much they payed you for this comment?
They're not really singing. It's clearly the soundtrack from the movie
@@kmwiggles77GTFO...First of all they ARE clearly singing it... second of all, why would they lip sync to a movie album...third, those are CLEARLY not Richard Gere or Renee Zelwegger's voices.
The strings, the dancing, HIS VOICE its so amazing how can this be highschool
I’d say it’s either a dedicated performing arts school, or a very large school with a large bank of performing arts students to choose from. We had 30 kids audition for our last musical, and they all got in, because we needed bodies on stage.
Yeah it’s the first time I’ve thought a high school boy was really nailing the vocals and I watch a decent amount of highschool versions of musicals on here. But recording quality could have impacted some of them tbh
@@aprilmartini I'm familiar with this high school, and while it's not a performing arts high school, the area has many very talented people who love to sing and dance. Much of that part of Utah has some really incredible amateur productions because they're drawing from such a large talent pool.
I mean they just copied the movie in every way. Not that hard to do.
@@rachelf5466 Honestly my school had the best performance Sweeney Todd I've ever seen to this day, two layered stage with the trapdoor chair, upstairs barber, downstairs resteraunt and then basement set, it was insane and all built by one woman, the lighting and costumes were all also done by the same woman who wasnt even a teacher just worked purely as the stagehand and lighting desk and music woman it was deranged how good it was for a public school, the music was all played by a live student orchestra and all the actors were amazing singers too, it was legitimately just amazing
For a highschool this is AMAZING
Wait they're in high school? They're great!
High school???
highschool..? wow.....
Really? 🤣🤣🤣
More like community theater.
Roxy stole the show with this scene. She literally looks like a porcelain doll and I had such a hard time believing she wasn’t until she said “are you kiddin’”
The people saying this is amazing for high school are only partially correct. This is amazing for any age and it becomes phenomenal and unbelievable for high school. This performance is about on par with the one in the film and they were able to do retakes for the film version.
Except that the part of Mary Sunshine is written as a man in drag in the Broadway production. Hollywood made her female. This is a copy of the film (including the dialogue before the song). PS: the royalties actually prohibit changes to the libretto, lyrics, regardless of any films made that change them.
I’m sorry but you don’t know professionalism. The performers were good but the direction was extremely subpar.
@@jonathanmcvay5779 compared to most high school productions, this was a masterpiece
@@nativenewyorker3144 you’re entitled to your opinion. I have a big problem with the direction.
@jonathanmcvay5779 and the direction you're going is shitting on the performance of amateur high school kids.
Aden's great (he can really sing), but on second watch Jenna steals the scene. Compare her performance to others on KZhead and she just blows them away. She fully commits to the scene and makes really interesting choices. When he puts the smile on her, it's as good as the one in the movie. Maybe even better.
What are their full names? I’d like to know how they're doing now 😂
They do everything pretty much exactly the same as in the movie except the milk drinking part at the end. XD
@@rooftopkitty8462 It's in the description Some people think that Aden is the same as this Aden: kzhead.info/sun/rah8n82SrJprm6M/bejne.html
2005 which means now in 2020 these folks should be around 30 years of age. Any update? The guy playing Billy Flynn I sure hope went on to do some acting! His voice is phenomenal here!
Yup!
Maybe I'm crazy but I really think that the actor Aden is this guy: kzhead.info/sun/rah8n82SrJprm6M/bejne.html
@@alyssachantaychampagne2773 actually the guy who played Billy Flynn went to the college that one of my friends is going to (Brigham Young University).
@@TheDel4873 i think theyre saying Spanish fork is his high school, not college. Edit: yup, the guy in the facebook link went to byu, so its probably the same
@@TheDel4873 I saw that the girl who plays Roxy now has 5 kids and runs a Christian private school? Might be wrong on that. Is this in Utah? Cause those two things feel VERY Mormon, but I also wouldn’t expect a primarily Mormon school in the early 2000’s to perform Chicago.
That note at the end. This guy had better have gone pro.
googled him and he went into finance :( i do hope that he and his family are doing well tho.... maybe he stills does theater on the side??
This man sounds like Richard Gere in the movie and that goes beyond me. He’s awesome😱 Ps. the title of this video for once wasn’t clickbait, I assure you
THIS IS WHAT I WAS SAYINGGGGG
@@lukeskywalker9060 sort of, except for the caricature of the voice too much.
The guy was an amazing singer and the girl playing Roxie did such a good job portraying a doll, I actually clicked on the video because of the fact I thought she was a porcelain doll in thumbnail
when i first saw the video title i was like “psh okay sure” but now i’m clapping in my own home because this really is the best performance of this song i’ve ever seen (especially for high school??!?)
You need to get out more
Someone send this to Disney and get this cast to reunite for their Disney+ show.
YESSSYESYES ABSOLUTELY
OMG YES!!
BRUH! THATD BE AWESOME
OH MY GOD YES
That ventriloquism scene is unreal
His vocals are amazing, the pipes that he has are astounding. The fact he can hold a note for that long and stay on pitch is amazing
That “Theeee~” is powerful, did he do circular breathing or something?
As it requires a closed area to hold the air in that doesn't work. It's just sheer lung volume and training probably~
It's less breathing in general tbh. The idea of good breath control is breathing in minimally and exhaling said breath as slowly, powerfully and controlled as possible. Diaphragmatic support is key!
No way! A high school production? This great??! Standing ovation. So awesome.
If you told me these 2 ended up on Broadway id believe it
Surprised they could finish the show after that. I would never stop clapping
This is insanely good! 😍
Said no one ever
We made our own in Poços de Caldas, "The Volcanic City" in Brazil: kzhead.info/sun/fdWvd5R-cGeOrXA/bejne.html
I wish I could see all that jazz and cell block tango from this group
Oh same
RAZZLE DAZZLE
His voice+her acting is truly a match made in heaven! His ventriloquism is the only thing that could be improved upon but honestly it’s not even a big deal because her acting is so captivating that you don’t end up looking at his mouth haha
Shout out to the videographer on this too, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such an adept filming of an amateur performance, zooming in on key facial expressions and showing choreography without cutting pieces off
Unironically this is definitely one of the best performances of 'Gun' on KZhead. The choreography is mostly taken from the 2002 movie as opposed to the usual stage choreography but it reintroduces some of the best stage elements (particularly the long notes at the end which wouldn't have fit in the movie since why would that be impressive when it isn't live?), we also get to see Roxy's full Charleston performed flawlessly at the end (which the movie literally shows for 0.4 seconds) The rag doll ventriloquist dummy from the movie is so much more comedic and captivating than the stage version of frozen comedic expressions (and makes more sense) and both Roxy's physicality, make-up (props to them) and acting all enhance it And yes, Flynn holds a note here better than some other professional performances I've seen on YT. I'm only sorry they couldn't also do the stage version's dance together at the end as well (the shuffle at the last refrain at the end before the long note)
I love how they actually did the puppet thing for the reporters from the movie
For a high school show choir this is truly amazing!! The guy playing Billy Flynn is great what a voice. The girl playing Roxie Hart is flawless the moves are spectacular!!!
He held that note for 15 whole goddamn seconds. For once I actually agree with the title!!!
This was an actual high school?!?!? OMG, glee watches this and cries at night
These performances are absolutely astonishing for a high school!!!! Great job!!!!
When I did this in an actual professional production we didn't have nearly half the talent these two had. I feel like I did a good job but if you asked me to hold that note at the end I'd have laughed in your face. Plus the actress I was working with was really stubborn, and refused to take criticism and sometimes walked out of rehearsals or didn't even show up. On the night she barely knew what she was doing and showed. I'm never working with her again thank god. Sorry for the rant, just jealous that a high school production did a better a job than we did when we probably had triple the budget 😹😹😹. Hats off to them
This is too good for a school play-THIS IS TOO GOOD FOR A SCHOOL PLAY! They've been squipped, right?! This is masterfully executed, singing, dancing, coreography... Everything 💖
Wow her acting is on point she’s like an doll
Okay but that male vocalist is AMAZING!
Can we talk about the main background puppet lady’s vocals?? Damn!!
This was better than most college productions!
This is my favorite song from Chicago, and actually seeing it performed is especially a delight. You get to see how many people are unnervingly good at pretending to be a puppet. This girl especially is one of the best, there were times I forgot she was genuinely moving her own limbs. Billy Flynn here is also incredible. He put so much character into the role that even some of the official recordings don’t have. Amazing!!
im so shocked highschoolers performed this, this is absolutely phenomenal
For once this is not clickbait, it really IS amazing. This, and the the Stratford Playhouse, are some of my fav highschool productions for Chicago
HOLY HELL! This is a HIGH SCHOOL?! That is a killer Billy Flynn! ALL of them are fantastic!
This is SPECTACULAR. This is professional level shit.
He actually sounds like Billy Flynn from the movie, wow.
Where are these artists today? ABSOLUTELY STUNNING PERFORMANCES!
Seems like they’re both living pretty normal middle-class lives now. Roxie’s actress is a SAHM and a volunteer teacher and the guy is now a family man with an office job! According to a comment left by the op!
BRAVO! WELL DONE.!!! .ROXIE..WOW, BUT DUDE..THAT LAST NOTE!!!! FANTASTIC!
OMG! IS THIS REALLY A HIGH SCHOOL PRODUCTION? THIS WAS REALLY OUTSTANDING! I SAW THE BROADWAY SHOW 3 TIMES BEFORE THE MOVIE AND THIS WOULD MAKE THE BROADWAY CAST PROUD! (especially the girl playing Roxy & the guy playing her lawyer in this scene) BRAVO! 👍👍👍👍👍💞
I can't believe it's a high school play. Amazing!
Love at the end when Roxie does the Charleston and then the back bend into his arms. Great ending!
티파니부터 여기까지 온사람은 나밖에 없지....
나도 있어용ㅋㅋㅋ
yogiyo
I remember seeing chicago done as a production in my school and thinking this song was unsettling. This is... even more so. It's a compliment don't get me wrong
Of course it’s 2005, no high school I’ve seen now is capable of the performance and wonderful passionate energy this group exudes
Why do you say that? Just curious
It's because we are all depressed now, noodle
@@trinifernandez8870 Accurate
How many high schools theater productions are you crashing to give such a definitive assessment? 🤔 Seems kind of suspicious, maybe schools should take campus security more seriously.
@@kimberly6663 Um or ya know you could’ve considered that I might be fresh out of high school... and was heavily involved in local/regional theatre and UIL competitions?
It almost sounds like it’s dubbed its so good
Omg this is absolutely fantastic! His voice is killer, the physical acting of the one who plays Roxie, the dancing... Just everything is so amazing! Great job to the whole crew!
Is it wrong of me to say that I love this even more than the Broadway versions? 😭
....high school? HIGH SCHOOL?????? Excuse me what? Im in awe of these talented kids
I love how the song has so many words ending in BUL. Like it is full of BUL.
I saw this show at UMichigan, which is widely regarded to have one of the best theatre departments in the country. And maybe memory serves me incorrectly, but I swear to God this high school performance is even more impressive!!
I actually saw it at UMich too! I think between the year of 2003-2005. And I say your memory serves your correctly 🙃 I too think these high schoolers did an even better performance than the theater department at the time. 😬
I don't know how KZhead ended up sending me here, but this was amazing!!
5:14 The way he held that high belt for THAT LONG after flailing around, and sustaining it while SITTING no less, that's impressive as hell
this is mindblowingly good, congrats to everyone on this cast
It is really hard to believe this is a high school performance. Kudos to everyone involved! I can't stop watching it.
5:19 blown out of my seat, flew across the room, raised my grades, watered my crops
holy shit that dude's a star
Can't believe these were high school performers
that roxie looks straight out of the 1920s
The girl looks like a doll it's kinda creepy
cringe Trashcan that’s the point
that’s the idea, yeah
Yeah I knoww...but the thing is she did it very well, not everyone can look and act like a puppet convincingly in that scene if that makes sense. I'm not a native English speaker I'm sorry.
@@cringetrashcan8828 Yeah it's pretty offputting.
She did so good!!!!!! It must be so hard to act like a puppet and just let the other person move you around
I’ve seen great performances from high schools before, but they’re rare. And even more rare to be considered to be one of the best performances of the song. But yet, here I am
This is a HIGH SCHOOL?! What a showstopper!!!
Bravo! This was an awesome performance! The only thing that could've made it better was a budget for costumes, stage props and lighting, but the act was EVERYTHING!
What they lack in budget they more than make up for in talent. The singing, the dancing, and the acting were phenomenal, especially Roxie and the lawyer. The lawyer's pipes were great.
This is truly amazing, more people need to see this!
This is a HIGH SCHOOL?! There's no way! Holy cow! I thought they looked a little young but the talent made me assume they were acting majors in college. Good lord that's a lot of talent!
Just here to say that I truly TRULY adore this performance. It is so amazing to see a Highschool production shine so bright! I love this! I applaud everyone involved.
Watching this in 2019 and I think this is superb and hilarious!!
I wonder if their performance happens in the present day, they must be viral !!! Gosh!! Can't believe they are high school students!! So talent!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This came up as an option when listening to other versions of this song and I figured it’d be a ‘cute, little version’. I was actually blown away. It was great.
PHENOMENAL !!!
OMG, she's pretty and able to act! Perfect!
This kind of thing is why I love theatre 😮I miss doing it in highschool, I only got 2 1/2 years of it because of covid 😭
This is a marvelous performance with some wonderful little touches, but my favorite is the closing flourish when Roxy sweeps back into his arms. Very well done!
They need to be on the show Encore! with Kristen Bell!
Holy cow ! What did I just see ? That was F'n fantastic ! He has got some serious breath control to go with that singing voice. Really well done.
Coming from somebody that's been in various acting troupes for 25 years, well past school and college, this is amazing! And the girl that plays Roxy... You have a long and amazing acting career ahead of you! Keep it up!
This guy is a musical performer!
Aw I wish she did something bigger with her life she is really talented
Holy hell that caption was not lying
As a fellow Utahn, this is so cool and a magnificent performance from everyone! Especially Roxy!
i literaly cried
And the Tony award goes to this performance from these high school kids.
Gosh darn it! Say!! These kids’ re the bee’s knees!!!
Where are these people now?
Wow my word, Jenna, you are something :) So gifted ❤️💕🙏‼️
id kill to see this entire performance
Wow! Outstanding talent at that high school!
This was absolutely AMAZING for a high school
What a MASTER CLASS!!!! OMG!. GAVE ME CHILLS
i am literally in love with this performance
i am still in love with this performance
Idk why this was recommended to me but THIS WAS DAMN GOOD!
Okay DAMN this was fricken amazing! They all need to be in broad way, I loved this!
