  • I took my girlfriends son fishing, on a commercial. And with a bit of help, he nailed it with about 40lb. . He was ecstatic, and I couldn't wish for more, except = It took me five years to eventually catch a carp when I was a kid, cos I needed to grow up & learn. .. the hard way by many mistakes & huge lots of learning.....that 1st carp to me will always be unforgettable. I think the son will never feel the same way 😊

  • Nice Video Jon. 👍🏼 I got some tins of that Royal Dane from B&M too. I found it was great meat! 👍🏼 😊 If you compare it to Plumrose, it's exactly the same pork %, so it's the same stuff really. 👍🏼 😊 Quick question Jon: If you was fishing meat on a mainly carp venue (&bagging) , how many tins of meat would you tend to use in a typical 5 hour match? I'm not sure if I'm feeding enough? 🤔

    @andykirk26@andykirk263 жыл бұрын
    • Cheers Andy. For places the Oaks I know you fish, meat fishing for 200lb+, then I'd have 5 or 6 tins on standby and freeze any leftover to bulk out the next match. I often have a tin or two ready and open but won't cube it unless I need to, as it only takes a minute. Often hard to feed more than that, but somewhere as prolific as the Oaks it's certainly possible. Places like Tunnel I think 3 tins is often ample for 5 hrs bagging, unless they're coming up shallow.

      @JonArthur@JonArthur3 жыл бұрын
    • @@JonArthur Thank you Jon for that. Much appreciated! Yes, I'm definitely not feeding enough then. I'm Scared of blowing my peg at times with too much bait. Back to B&M then to clean them out of Royal Dane 😉🤣 Keep the videos coming Jon, always learning. And all the best in the qualifiers. 👍🏼

    @richardbarrett7544@richardbarrett75442 жыл бұрын
    • Thanks, I'd just beef up the end tackle and elastic a touch and maybe fish 7mm or even 8mm meat. How far out all depends on how it plumbs up.

  • Hi Jon, love your fishing. My question is would you flavour or dampen your micro’s or do you just use the hard out of the bag. Cheers.

    @paulbroughton8403@paulbroughton84033 жыл бұрын
    • Always dampen the micros. I never feed them dry. Flavouring generally only when feeder fishing on big waters and ones that see a lot of speci anglers or if I want some extra stickiness.

  • As a wise old angler once put me in my place Jon = "can't you use a catty anymore? And how many fish do you think that you're gonna attract & hold, by cupping feed into a 6inch radius. It ain't winter where your'e trying to buy a bite!?" .... I was lost for words! I'd won a few matches & thought I was good & had his repect! ..... 😊 . I still have lots to learn though , apparently & obviously ❤ lol

    @philbench7622@philbench76223 жыл бұрын
    • Commercials have taught me far more than I've ever learnt when it comes to feeding, and that knowledge applies to both natural and managed waters. Just wish I could refish so many natural water events with what I now know. Knowing when to feed tight or spray is important too of course.

      @JonArthur@JonArthur3 жыл бұрын
  • American watching and I have never seen anything like this. Interesting how different fishing can be in other countries. We have carp here but never seen anything like this. Is this type of fishing pretty common? Do people bowfish for them? That’s generally what people do here that chase carp. I don’t know anyone that fishes them with a rod on a regular basis. Interesting video.

    @fbeale3537@fbeale35373 жыл бұрын

  • Jon what are the benefits of using a 'top kit' ove a 7-8ft rod and reel? A rod and reel would make it easier to play a larger fish and would allow for the same control over the presentation as a 'top kit would..

    @johnmckinley8447@johnmckinley84473 жыл бұрын
    • I cannot see how a rod could ever out fish a top kit at close range, unless it was a big open water and all the fish were monsters. I think a pole should beat a rod fishing up to 14/16m out on a stillwater 99 times out of 100.

For example = where do you think the idea of "swim feeders" came from, before companies made them & snatched your money?? ... Some guy saw his Mum's plastic hair curlers and invented the swim feeder! .... I don't necessarily agree with him sneaking about in his Mum's bedroom tho 😨 x
