This African elephant is on the verge of death. It was likely tusked in its side by another male elephant during a fight. What happens next reveals how enormously important an elephant is to its ecosystem. Elephants arrive on the scene to mourn the loss of their fellow elephant. The mourning process includes “body-mounting,” in which they climb on the carcass. They also mourn by walking backwards towards the body, often touching it with their hind foot. They will explore the body with their trunks and front feet. Whether elephants culturally transmit and learn these actions is part of an ongoing study. Hyenas arrived overnight and opened the belly of the carcass, tearing through the tough elephant hide. This gives the opportunity for white-backed vultures to feed.
Vultures don’t have strong enough beaks to tear through the elephant's hide, so they have to wait in line behind the hyenas. While sad, these deaths are crucial for ecosystems. These feasts can be life saving for vultures, whose populations have plummeted worldwide as humans have changed their habitats and poisoned them. A leopard comes to investigate but decides to eat elsewhere. Elephant carcasses briefly become busy ecosystems of their own. Apart from scavenging, there’s a full community of decomposers like maggots that chow down on anything the bigger scavengers don’t get to quickly enough. A carcass site becomes soaked with blood and fluids that are released during decomposition, creating a fertile patch of ground as microbes release nutrients into the soil.
Scientists use carcass counts for keeping tabs on elephant population health. So not only does this elephant's carcass provide a highly beneficial service to the surrounding ecosystem ... it may ultimately help with science and elephant conservation.

That shot at 1:23 is incredible you can actually see how sad the elephants are goes to show animals have just as much feelings as we do we should always treat all animals big or small with respect
Start by not exploiting, killing and eating them.
Not all animals but definitely some.

@@user-lw8dr6xx8i I agree with the exploiting part, but eating them is normal. We are like any other animal seen in there eating the corpse.
Eating animals is normal
When the elephant first died, it’s like the others are hugging the dead friend. Elephants are so beautiful. Although I had no desire to watch the feeding frenzy that ensued, I do find it fascinating how there is an animal for every need. Without the scavengers and insects, this world would be a stinky, ugly mess.
Have a look at the concept of Fundamental Constants. Everything in the Universe is determined by special forces called fundamental constants which are unbelievably precise. For eg. -: If the rate of expansion of the Universe would have changed only by just one part in a quintillion after the Big Bang, a quintillion is one with 18 zeros after it, 1,000,000,000,000,000,000, the Universe would have continued to expand or collapsed back on itself. How the Atmosphere (various layers) protects the Earth from destruction from meteorites is again amazing. Solar Flare which occur frequently from the Sun ☀️ has energy equivalent to 100 billion Atomic Bombs which was dropped on Hiroshima couldn't destroy Life on Earth 🌍 due to Van Allen Radiation Belt. The centre of gravitational force could have existed anywhere on the Universe which is supposedly 13.5 billion Light Years Big but it only exists at the right place that's why Life is possible. Scientists say, if it is shifted/ moved even 1 inch compared to 13.5 billion light years length of the Universe, the effects would be catastrophic & it would wreck the Universe. So, everything is on the knife edge.
@@supernatural_forces yes but there are also trillions / maybe infinite planets. so the chance of such things happening is actually not that strange
the reason there hasnt been new coal is because of the presence of these scavengers and bacteria coal and oil are formed because of a lack of decomposition, and they just get sandwiched into the ground

Elephants have roamed the earth longer than modern humans have, and they mostly can't use any tools other than grabbing a stick or even a hose if given chance. Poachers are modern human beings with clothes, which is a human made invention and they mostly use guns, which is another highly unnatural invention. To get a gun, one needs to buy the gun from a gun shop. For the gun shop to get a gun to sell, they have to order it from a factory, and for a factory to produce a gun, they need to order minerals from mineshafts all around the world to get brass, steel, both being alloys mixed from other minerals. Guns also have iron and aluminum, which is not usually found in the nature other than in meteors. For guns to be deadly, they need bullets which use different materials, such as copper to hold the other materials in the case, steel for the bullet, coal or sulfur for the primer, and gunpowder, which is yet another mix of different stuff to launch the bullet. In short, elephants are natural beings, humans are too but their inventions are not.
