The Gymnopédies, published in Paris starting in 1888, are three piano compositions written by French composer and pianist Erik Satie.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymnop%...
Soundtrack :
-- At First Sight
-- Corrina, Corrina (1994, Jessie Nelson)
-- My Dinner With André (1981, Louis Malle)
-- The Royal Tenenbaums
-- Valentine's Day
-- What Lies Beneath
-- Mr Nobody (2009, Jaco Van Dormael)
-- An Other Woman (1988, Woody Allen)
The three Gymnopédies are part of the soundtrack for the anime feature film The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.
An interpolation of Gymnopédie No. 1 is looped throughout the chorus of Janet Jackson's song "Someone to Call My Lover".
Gymnopédie No. 1 is played near the end of the 2015 film Love by Gaspar Noe.
A remixed version of Gymnopédie No. 1 composed by Masafumi Takada is part of the soundtrack for the Grasshopper Manufacture 2001 video game Flower, Sun, and Rain.
An adaptation of Gymnopédie No. 1 to the Game Boy Advance's hardware by Shogo Sakai is used as background music in the 2006 Japanese video game Mother 3 under the title "Leder's Gymnopédie".
A version of Gymnopédie No. 1 plays in the JRPG Persona 2, when the player visits the 'Velvet Room' and stays there until after the Velvet Room's main theme finishes.
Gymnopédie No. 1 is played by Gerry (Ben Mendelsohn) in the 2015 film, Mississippi Grind.
Gymnopedies 1, 2, 3 Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)

  • I'm trying to sleep now. Today, my dog was diagnosed with bone cancer. I am 18 years old and he is 15 years old and needs to amputate his paw and undergo chemotherapy. But at that age he can't take it ... So he'll probably be sacrificed. I'm crying so much ... He was always my company. And now you're going to move on to another plane. This song calms me down a little and helps me in this sad moment. I hope you don't go through the same pain that I feel now. Animals are angels and should not suffer. Edit: well, my dog passed way at april 19. He had been cured of anemia and widespread infection. However, when he was about to start cancer treatment, he died at home. His breathing was slowing, his heartbeat was getting weak. I tried to do cardiac massage, but it was inevitable. Now he is on another plane. And I miss you so much. It has been my company since I was a child. Rest in peace, my friend. I will aways love you.

  • Satie must be one of the most underrated composers. When i write poems this is my major influx of inspiration. And its both beutuful and give hopes for us other outsiders. He was a genius far before his time sadly. I am now 62 years and have listen to this for decades..want to have it on my funeral.

    • Wonderful thought...how about we become the spirit things we love, like the sound of music, a string of notes, or we are the love of our pets, and we change places with dog thoughts, and human thoughts happen in the memory of a nuzzle, a tongue lick, smiles are in wags, and hands the memory of paws, and meeting hands sees what used to be touch, surrounded by warm pants of rhythmic breathing, and after longing and desire, there's....eternally throwing the ball until we dream of sleep.

I was among the 9 PM leavers. In the dead office silence, this music used to be the silent distant background score. For many years I took some effort to find this music, but failed. In 2019, KZhead recommended this music and I clicked without knowing what was in store. 😊 Till day I am overjoyed to have found this music. 😊

  • I heard this about a week ago on an older historical documentary on TV. I had no idea the name of the work or its composer and thought I will never know. I got in my truck after having been at the gym and this was playing on my classical station WOSU 101 FM. I almost cried. When the announcer gave the name I couldn't make it out very well but I did catch his last name. I called the station and they provided me with the information. Unreal that would happen like that, god was at work here no mistake about it.

Your family is trying to stay strong, I'll always remember you and how much joy you bought me when you were in my presence. I may not be with you physically, but I know your with me spiritually. I hope your watching over us or have been reincarnated. With that out of the way, I'll see you again one day, Hedgehog Hair, -your nephew, Samara

No mere mortal was meant to be able to tap into such a moving composition in life - it is somehow ethereal and impossible - and new on each playing.
