  • 6:50, Rachmaninoff actually had Marfans syndrome. I did a project on it last year for my biology class. Marfans syndrome affects connective tissue, and because of that a person with it can have a disproportionate body. Really long finger and arms, and toes and legs. If you look at a picture of Rachmaninoff playing the piano he really did have big hands and long fingers. So while he could play a certain set of notes, people without the syndrome cant (unless u just have really big hands). I hope Bret and Eddy see this :D

    • Rachmaninoff didnt exhibit other characteristics of Marfand syndrome, such as poor eye sight, scoliosis, or cardiac complications. He still could've had it, even tho he didnt have those things. Some professionals say he did have it, other say he didnt. I jsut went along with that he did because of some research I did (yet again it was a few google searches I'm just retelling the information i remeber). Then again he could have had dormat cardiac issues that never really arose.. if you get what I mean

My mates and I in marching band were often wild, and, by removing the bells of our clarinets, could screw them together into “one” terrifically long clarinet (I think 3 long was the longest we could get it and still make an [[incredibly deep and red-in-the-face]] sound)

  • For your information Rachmaninoff was a 6'6" tall man and supposed to suffered from Marfan syndrome both made his fingers very long so he could comfortably reach a 12th and a maximum of 13th on white keys On the other hand, Liszt's hand weren't significantly big yet they had unusual "small amount of connective tissue between the fingers that only begins at the very base of each finger making large spans on the piano easily achievable", and from the pieces he composed we can assume he could comfortably play a 10th on white keys with a maximum of 11th span

It’s just that when you are the only trumpet player and you are supposed come in on a big brass moment, it becomes so much more noticeable when you are lost versus when there are 20 violins and if you get lost, you still have 19 other players playing so no one notices. If you miss a note as the only trumpet player, everyone hears it.

Also, quick tip: if you're the only one playing your part and you're struggling with entrances, really listen to the parts of instruments around you. But to be honest, bass and violin I think are the hardest time play. For the bass, you have to move up and down the strings so fast because the notes are everywhere and it is such a big instrument. Violin I think would be hard because of how close you need to keep your fingers together. Especially like me, if you have chubby fingers lol
