The most significant win of Roger's career. What a performance that was, especially in the fifth set. Relaxed Federer is a marvel to witness, a true art form, and I think he was very calm in this match because he respects Rafa so much.
Having that 2009 heartbreak and the 2012&14 losses in his mind going into the 5th set and down 1-3 at the start...being able to clear all that and produce 5 magnificent games to seal the title is sth cant be explained by word. GOAT level stuff that was
@@carsonlei1457 true. And I feel the same about Rafa in the 2022 Final. 4 losses in his previous 4 Finals, lost first 2 sets e serve 2/3, 0/40. How he believed?
@@Luiz-nb3uz big three was in another level
Wimb 2019 would have been bigger if he had converted the MPs. Beating Nadal and Nole back to back at neaely 38 years old would have been insane. This loss will be the most painful of all.
@@Masterdoctorgenius14 That was the biggest match of his career, or any career - almost. I still see it as a victory, what he did then was amazing
"I will never EVER forget that rally!" sums up the whole match for me 🙏🏼
Exactly what I was about to say. Six years later and I'm there again. There's a long history between the two with lots of amazing moments and matches but I rank this match as top 3 of all matches I've seen, I'm very tempted to put it as the best match ever from an experience point of view, never ever will I forget this match.
I love that quote so much because as a RF fan from day 1 this match meant everything to me. I acknowledge that Novak is the GOAT now but RF will always be my favorite player
incredible rally
What a tournament this was, an injection of nostalgia. As a Fedal fan, it gave me everything I wanted. For a moment, we were back in the late 2000’s 🥹 Good luck in the future, Roger 👏
True.
Yeah, and also quite a nostalgic women's final with Serena and Venus! Like it was the last slam to enjoy all of these past great champions playing truly great tennis
My favorite RF win ever. Oh, what a year this was. The sunshine double was amazing. Neo on steriods during the sunshine double
Dear Roger, most of your tennis career I have been too young to see you live, the last few years I have spent countless hours watching each of your matches, most of your great plays and great points I know by heart, your statistics , and absolutely everything you have achieved as a tennis player, I know. Unfortunately I haven't had the honor of attending a tennis stadium to see you play, it's something I've always dreamed of. Even so, I want to thank you for everything you have achieved, for what you are as a person, as a player, for everything you have given to tennis, for the number of tennis players you have inspired to improve and for so many joys, since I can remember you are my favorite tennis player and my idol, you are a turning point in tennis itself, since you entered the circuit you have revolutionized the way we see and understand this sport, you are the reason I started watching tennis, and the reason why I will continue looking into the future, and no matter how much time passes, you will never be a memory, you are eternal, the best of all time, it was never about the statistics, but about what you transmit in people as a tennis player, your game is so simple and perfect at the same time, it is something incomparable. I hope one day to have the fortune and honor to meet you and be able to take a picture with you, I would be the happiest person in the world, but even so, I want to thank you infinitely for everything, and also tell you that you will never be a memory, you will be eternal, the very tennis in person, The Best of All Time ❤️🥇👑
Thank u, my clone, for taking the words out of my mouth
❤
Epic comment, congrats; i agree
Yeah
Never the best of all time. Chokerer will be remembered for 40-15 nothing else 😂😂
One of the most epic wins ever. When he developed the neo backhand he really neutralized Nadal's forehand and beat him in big consecutive tournaments. The GOAT for me!
honouring roger by posting extended highlights of maybe his most special match ever, well done AO
This channel has the full match btw.
still goosebumps and tears coming up when rewatching it 6 years later
The NEO backhand, the best comeback of all time, the Fairytale, the most iconic rivalry & the greatest player Federer behind a million emotions & magic moments! ✨✨ You'll be remembered forever & you'll always be my hero ❤
and the most popular tennis player ever by far
🙏🏻✨️👏🏻❤️
this one will always be a classic. all the best roger
My eyes in tears... Knowing roger is retiring. From 2002 i watched roger with all the beauty style he has. You'll be missed roger.
Those 2 guys played 2 of the greatest AO’s ever and both ooze class. What a privilege to watch.
I am a huge fan of both these legends...and also of Djoko. These 3 are all GOATS.
My favourite athlete :(( the day has come, been through the ups and downs, I’ll never forget how he won the AO in 17, Wimbledon in 17 & AO again in 18. Proved everyone wrong & helped inspired a martial artists like myself. I’m now 23 years old but tennis was the first sport I loved growing up! Thank you for everything! All aboard the fedexpress!
The level of that match was simply insane.
The commentator: " I will never ever forget this point" Tennis fans worldwide: "Amen"
7:45 point that stay in history forever
Point of the century.
I didn't see God but I saw Roger Federer play tennis, we will miss you, Maestro!!!!
The best tennis player of all times. We will miss you so much. You leave an irreplaceable empty in this sport. Thanks for so much!
I remember watching this back when it was on. This was/is one of the best tennis matches ever played.
Everybody remembers exactly where they were when this match was being played. Such is the significance of this match, what a final between two players who have elevated this sport to a different level. Thank you Roger!
This is so true. Nostaligia!
Rafa was probably wondering where Roger's new great backhand came from.
The most complete player to ever play, truly an inspiration
i respect him so much that i can't describe with words
This is my favorite grandslam after the Nadal winning the Wimbledon in 2008. The way fed was playing his backhand was unseen in the tennis world
Crying while watching this over and over again 😭
Huge Respect to Roger Federer. Wish you all the Best. Thank you for everything. 🙌💪🎾😃
The anticipation that these 2 legends create is really next level. Can't believe they played at RG 2019 and Wimbledon 2019 after this but never faced each other at US open in more than 15 years of their rivalry!
7:46 is maybe the best Really in Tennis ever. Crazy from both.
I remember crying watching this live after Federer's win reaction, it was just beautiful, childish and pure
6:26 applauding a good play from an opponent defines him most,Momentous!!
2017のオーストラリアンオープンからあなたの大ファンになった。ロジャー、あなたのプレーに憧れた。たくさんの感動をありがとう。あなたを忘れないよ。
So sad we will never see matches like this again😢
the most important match in tennis history
Such a stellar legendary career. Very lucky to be alive to witness and watch his brilliance over the past two decades. Thank you Roger. #RGforever
Im from Europe and in 2013 i traveled to Australia to see him play ... not his best year but the two matches that i got to see (quarter finals and semis) were a total previlage to watch - also i got to see him practice ... a dream .... hundreds of fans floking around him (where as at the time when Djokovic was at his best (and at no 1 - there were about 50 people at his practise sessions) anyway you get the point ...
Roger and Rafa ARE men's tennis. Over and over these two warriors would bring out the best and worse in one another. This match again revived the maestro. That was enough for Roger to keep winning more big titles. Then the knee began again to give Roger more troubles than his body could take. A player of unappreciated grit and hustle. Here Roger had to battle his mental demons to conquer his greatest rival and nemesis yet AGAIN! Now Roger will make the Laver cup his last outing as a pro. As much as I would've loved to have seen him comeback just one more time, I am happy for the man. He has nothing more to prove, and his all-round all surface genius will remain exclusively his to savor. I find it a telling time, not just because of the retirement announcement, but now the game has a new superstar in none other than Spanish teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz. He has idolized Roger and it shows in the kids explosive aggression and exquisite shot making abilities. At just 19yrs Carlos appears to channel not just Roger's everything, but Rafael's hustle and self belief, and Carlos is as acrobatic if not more so than the human Rubber band Novak Djokovic. Yes, I believe we have Roger, and Rafael/Djokovic to thank for this new kid on the block. To be the player he is at such a young age, cannot be possible without these 3 legends of this great game.. This complex and demanding game will continue to evolve and usher in new talents and hopefully, more legends. We have been very blessed for many years to have had unique and extraordinary talents like Roger, Rafael, and Djokovic. You will never be forgotten Roger. The world loves you. Be happy man, you have earned it. Now, on to different and new successes. You are a living legend. PEACE OUT GREAT WIZARD, YOU WILL CONTINUE TO SUCCEED! ✌🏽✊🏾☝🏽🧠🫀💪🏾👀
Not a federer fan and altough I expected this.. damn feels weird he's going to retire. Regardless he is and always will be a legend of the game and sports in general
Still my favorite match of all time, Rafa and Roger put on a show that day.
@Australian Open TV - Now that Roger has retired, please try and consider uploading all his matches from Australian Open in this amazing quality. All of his matches should be publicly available now, they should be selected for preservation as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant", just like the US Library of Congress does with classic outstanding movies.
Probably the only loss in Rafa’s career where I wasn’t too upset over the result, considering we had a throwback Fedal final, considering Rafa’s struggles in 2015-16, and because Federer 100% deserved it.
Most epic battle! I will never forget this! Roger's NEO backhand is so devastating... His weak point has become the strong point and he beat Rafa... That's very emotional🥲
We miss you Roger a true gentleman who played with a magic wand
The best ever of this sport. Hats off Mr Federer 🙂
Blessed to live in era of Federer.
In my case, blessed to live in Jordan, Zidane and Federer's era. Sports icons.
The king being the king. He conquered his generation and trained two of the best tennis player in history. Rafa and Nole that’s his biggest achievement.
Tears on my eyes, what a legend, big 3 era was the best in history of tennis
Cant believe this match has been more than 5 years from now
I have nostalgia.I like tennis because I discovered him and that was when I was 13 years old . He show me that tennis is an awesome sport. What a legend
Me too.. bro ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️ I too started seeing these two playing when I was 13 ...
I think that emotions that push us all to return to this memories in order to see and to feel this unforgettable moments of your and our lives. I feel like I lost some one. But this is life. Thank you for the happiness that you inspired us. We wish you a happy life with your family. Mush love musetro from Morocco🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦
O melhor de todos os tempos parou!!!
I’ll miss you Roger. True legend of the game. The most humble human being.
What a smooth play. We'll miss you seeing playing and most importantly, tennis will miss you, MAESTRO ROGER FEDERER 🔥🔥
For me, it is an honour to have an opportunity to watch Federer and Nadal on court, doing things, they know the best: playing this wonderful game and entertaining millions of people. I simply cant imagine anything better in tennis, than these two playing against each other. This match was the best 3 and a half hours of my life....... I remember watching the final on TV like it was just couple of months ago. I cant belive it has been more than five years. The one thing that I have allways admired about Mr. Federer was his ability to stay insanely calm and cool during the points of the greatest importance. Saving matchballs vs Millman and Sandgren in AO 2020 was just another proof of him being the true G.O.A.T. of tennis. Thank you for all the memories Roger :)
Rodgers back hand is a world of art
Also this was his start to one his best season of all time
Diehard Fed fan and this is definitely my favorite match of his. I used to love the Australian Open cuz I would go out that Saturday night and get fucked up and record the match and start watching it the next morning when I woke up after a cocktail or two to get me going. I wouldn't check my phone or anything until the match was over. That was a great one to watch
how beautyfull it was to see federer play, poetry in motion....nadal too but federer its something else in term of skills, elegance, magic shots, half volley like no one etc.....i miss you
What a trip on memory lane watching these highlights, one of the greatest finals ever. The speed of that court really suited Federer’s game especially his backhand! Wish hardcourts over the past decade were this way
*Masterpiece tennis: **7:46**.* This is one of the best finals in the history of tennis.
The GOAT ever 🙏 thank you Roger ❤
Sir Roger federer golden legend legend legend love you so much miss you so much teniss history best player ❤❤❤
AO2017 is one of the greatest Grand Slam ever.
Probably the best final I've watched, absolutely outstanding tennis 🎾
I always thought this was the greatest victory of Fed's career. What's interesting is that the match played out v similar to the 2009 AO open final ... except different result in the 5th.
Probably his sweetiest win ever. After so many years haunted by Rafa, finally he was able to turn the tide
What year 2017 was. Thanks GOAT.
My fave forever, Roger Federer
Commentator: I will never ever forget that rally Everybody else: *nods heads*
Been 6 years now, but i still cant forget that rally in the 5th where roger hit a half volley fh from the baseline…
Piel de gallina. Como te extrañamos su majestad
This wouldn't be their best match individually of course, but you could feel the adrenaline in the fifth which makes it so special. The old dogs gave it all like there was no tomorrow, they played the best points of the match in the clutch moments despite their legs were done long ago. The best rivalry ever.
Yeah it was their best. Which match would be better then this one? None
@@o.mulders2584 Rome 2006, Wimbledon 2007, Australia 2009.
Exactly, Federer is still good enough to beat Nadal at 35+ and actually have amore favourable record against him in his 30s. Hopefully the Fedfan clubs stop saying he's old at 28.
@@NamTran-xc2ipDon't expect Fedfans to be objective
I love both these guys. But I can't help but wonder if Roger regrets not going to the bigger racket earlier in his career, esp considering the way he was handling Nadal (outside of clay) after he switched, esp with that backhand. A huge what-if.
The biggest match of tennis history
The nostalgia final.
Men tennis today will never get to such level…
I m watching wid teary eyes 👀 after federer announced his retirement He was the reason i loved tennis 🎾 n he wil b the reason i wil leave 😢
Just 🔥🔥🔥
Most important match of Federer's career.
One of the best matches on 2017 season
this is making me cry
Оба легенды , Федерер лучший
There's always the argument who's the GOAT There's Roger. Then there's everyone else.
Up until 2018 there was no talk of 90s born generation players winning Grand Slam. But post 2018 when Djokovic won Wimbledon and Big three had dominance it became talk of the town
The best ever grand slam final. The two greatest ever! A final to remember!
Nah it will always be the Wimbledon 2008 final
Very beautiful match !!!!!!
o melhor jogo de tênis que eu vi
Simply the 🐐
makes me cry😢😢😢😢
7min48, the best point of the game 👏🏿🖤
Beautiful.
Pretty entertaining match for the 9th and 17th ranked players in the world at the time. 😊
A glorious career comes to an end. Will really miss FedEx badly 😢
Le patron Le maître Le vrai Champion Le tennis L'élégance La classe ....... .....C Roger oui ... C Roger Federer 💕✍🎾🎾🎾
Un de mes meilleurs match que j’ai vus !!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Why does it hurt to watch this video now...
i cried once again
The best two years for AO! 😭
I forgot that this was such a short five setter, especially for a Nadal match
Federers short amount of time between service points helped
