How do these compare to the SHP9500 for gaming specific cans
Hello Zeos, do you know / remember if these headphones are easy to take apart like the 58X Jubilees? Thinking of buying and modding these with a different color.
so with current drop price of $130 and not interested in gaming,, just music, is it worth it?
nice gman reference
@@MichaelSidneyTimpson if just using them for music, it isn't worth it. maybe would be if you need a mic though!
haven't watched him for like a year and now he's living in a dungeon, cool
he just moved into the most awesome huge house haha
Yeah same. This is my first vid after a year or so as well. Was puzzled at first. Will have to check out some older vids to see the move.
@@YorkshireD1 Don't, you'll get stressed out :)
Classic Zeos video
He upgraded
"it also can do movies, music, project melody..." now wait a minute
Can you imagine melody, with the accuracy of the smsl su8 dac and warmth of the rebel amp. 💡
@@nocturnal0072 mmmmh :)
projekt melody with your sennheiser HE-1's 😊
Thanks for the review. Your desk looks like the front page of my Drop website, and that makes me trust you for some reason. I'll probably be picking these up and will use my PC37s at work.
I've been running the Sennheiser Game One for 4 years, which uses the same chassis as this, and I can't really say the comfort factor has improved. It's like they're looser, but they still kinda pinch the area around my ears unevenly, and don't have enough room for my larger ears.
OMG. You want a laugh? You just saved me. I did not know to turn up the volume switch on the side on the headset. You made my friggin night hahaha. THANK YOU!
Thank you Z Reviews for using my video, I'm glad you are using it for testing :D I Have actually watched a video of you to buy me a headset :)
I’ve been looking for a reasonable priced, all around headset and stumbled across your channel. Bro you’re hilarious, you and Crinacle had me rolling! Great stuff man! Subbed.
Love your commentary style! Feels raw and real. If I had to make a decision between these and the hd58x, which would you go for? Kind of prefer the aesthetics of the jubilee's but I will prefer having the better headset in terms of gaming sound quality and experience. Also, would adding a DAC to the mix change your answer? Microphone is not a deciding factor for me.
So I have had these for the last few days and I can attest to everything Zeos is saying here. The valour pads certainly improve the musicality of this headset. They are more warm, but weirdly enough, they don't completely lose the sharpness in the treble. It does calm it down a bit though. I haven't tested them in game, but I have a theory that sennheiser included the valour pads for music listening purposes, and the knit fabric pads for gaming. The valour pads have more low end, and and are definitely more warm. Imo, they are more enjoyable. This is obviously subjective, but I think most people tend to prefer warmer sound signatures for music listening purposes.
To fix the clamp pressure on Sennheiser headphones I put a big hardcover book between the stems over night. Like a thin cookbook. Works like a charm and, as long as you're careful, won't damage the headphones.
yeah! dont use too wide books tho
music, movies...project melody
Love the review and the dungeon man, mine ship tomorrow. Excited to see how the drivers compare to my old pc37x thats been handed down to my brother
So itss the 38 better than the 37?
Id say overall theyre really similar. Its nice the pc38x comes with two cables this time so theres more flexibility (my 37 only came with the two jack input cable). The mic as far as I can tell is exactly the same, but the drivers are for sure a step up. Initially I wasnt too blown away playing them on my phone when i got them but after plugging them into my headphone DAC and amp and playing for a while things got much more impactful. Sound is more punchy and the bass extension is improved. I think if you already have the 37 its probably not worth doing such a small upgrade ( id just go for a really nice air of headphones plus a modmic usb) but its a noticable step up in sound from the 37x. Slightly more comfortable with long periods with the new split headband too! Very subtle change but its one that was worth making.
These cans were the most impacted by ear pads than I’ve ever experienced. Going from the “sport mesh” pads to the dekoni leather pads go from borderline bright to almost dark. The bass is extremely pronounced with the leather pads. Don’t know if I love them…but the comfort is 100% better with the dekoni pads
I love your reviews man! You should review the Sennheiser GSP 500. Apparently they use the same drivers. I would be interested to hear you thoughts on that gaming headset.
I got the 38X and the 6XX a week later. I can’t tell the difference between the two?! I’m glad you’re saying the sound is really good! I might just sell the 6XX on.
I had a great time watching this. Keep it up!
Those would be a good upgrade to the PC37X? I'm very happy with mine, only one problem with the volume knob that i fix with disordering it and a bit of glue.
I think these may be a subtle refresh of the GAME One headset. Earpads look almost identical to those on my 598 SE. However I'm looking for a new headphone / headset and I think buying these may be just rebuying the 598s I already own
Interestingly i think most other reviewers prefer the sport meshy pads and say that they give more bass, and the velour pads make it dark, which is essentially accurate since you said it tones down the highs.
9:09 I'm one of these people. The moment I tried the PC38x on, I was like wowzers! They sounded amazing even without a DAC. I then tried them with my iPhone and I couldn't believe the soundstage I was getting. And because they're low powered, you don't need an AMP. I loved them so much, now I want to try everything else Sennheiser has to offer. And the icing on the cake? They are EXTREMELY comfortable to wear. It doesn't even feel like you're wearing any headphones at all.
Conclusions 19:04. Nice release, I am no longer looking to get only a 58X
hey man great vids...i just have a question..in this vid you have a red cable on the 58x on your right... any way you can tell me where i could grab a cable like that for myself? thank you
12min into the review, but I have the PC360, one of these gaming headsets. Have you tried to lower the volume on the headset and use high gain on the amp? I get crazy bass when doing that on a O2 combo
Awesome review! Can you test them with the Sennheiser gsx 1000?
Z - Regarding the mic/headset combo.. how do I get the mic to work with an amp/dac? Can I just run the audio cable through an amp/dac and the mic directly into my computer?
Haven't seen you for a while Zeos. Already bought the 38's before I stumbled upon your review. Fuck I missed your humour, buddy. 😂 Loved the review.
Playing shooting games with HD800 is scary, gun shots actually have that sharpness and crack to them. Super real.
Are they good for music as well?
Hey Zeos im prob gonna buy these. Do you have a DAC/Amp recommendation for gaming consoles? My Hori fightpad doesn't have a headphone jack.
Bought these, and while they're good - they are no HD 58x that's for sure. They definetely also need an amp, since 100% volume is not enough on my ASUS Crosshair VIII X570 onboard audio - 28Ω my ass, maybe to get sound but the sound pressure is only 109dB. So You need more power then PC37X.
so happy to see your level of details on every review! great job! just ordered these, PC38X, and after that noticed that the HD58X are the same price haha and since you cant cancel ANY order from drop no matter if its after 5 minutes... I just want to know that they will justify themselfs :It is for mainly gaming ( the mic is a need for me so thats one more reason why i picked them), but sometimes a rock songs and maybe more of a bass songs... it will be nice for them to be a good " all rounder". as i saw that the HD58X that seems to be more "audiophile" i just felt a little disappointment.. what do you think? i made the right choice? it bothers me :(
did you? how were they
@@edwinbeta2806 Well, they good - but i guess in that price tag maybe you can get something better. I really think that all the criticizers should mention that you NEED to have an amplifier / amp to get the most out of them, even though they meant to function through a simple AUX plug in. I bought them to game obviously, mostly Warzone, and the footsteps getting mix with other noises. Bottom line: They good, I enjoy them, and I got used to them, although I defently think an amp will boost them high sky. consider that.
this is a really good review and you seem like you know a shit ton about audio and stuff, which i dont, so i have a question. do the ear pads really make that much of a difference? i didnt know something like that could change much, but i was surprised that it pretty much changed your opinion of the headset.
Which one dac amp are you recommend for this ?
You going to take a look at the "new" Schiit Magnius and Modius stack?
The pads look like they are identical to the HD500 series, as far as the shape and how they attach. I bet any replacements for those would work for these.
Squad KZhead sound demo is an excellent choice to reveal the realistic soundstage performance of PC38X. PC38X sounds like I am on top of a hill as the picture during a war. My other headphones, HD600 and Mrspeakers Alpha Prime, are not even close to PC38X, at least for the sound demo.
This video got me way too excited for these
I've been using my 363D for 5 years now, do you think it's time to change/upgrade or do i need a DAC to drive the 38x to the "max" power ?
A little off topic. Your the man to ask for this. 3.5 years ago I picked up a pair of shp9500 with brainwave angled pads, from your video. I just bought a pair of he400i and want to get a cable like the vmodo boom pro. Any way you can cut up a set and make a cable that has a half inch left with a 16in right side cable. Your most likely never to see this but thanks in advance.
I gave my PC360s to my brother because I couldn't wear them for more than an hour without getting a head/ear ache. I wear glasses and I think the clamp was too strong, or the pads were too hard, or something. They sounded great though, and I loved the mic. My experience with them has put me off getting any other sennheiser headphones though, as they're all roughly the same shape. I wanna be a sennheiser guy, but I think they hate people with glasses.
I have HD 6xx's and the clamping force is a little much for me on my fat head. You think i get the Tigr 300r? or do i wait a couple of months and see if anything new comes out? I play games and listen to music (not really looking to spend above $200)
Question... I want to buy these to use for ps4/ps5. Is there a dac/amp I should buy with it (that will work for ps4/ps5)? Thank you for any help, I don't know much about audio, I've just been going through this guys you tube videos and it sounds like a amp/dac really improves audio (his videos are fun to watch. He is hilarious yet super informative). He also mentions that the stand alone headphones are "perfectly fine for gaming," but when he starts talking about amps or dacs it always sounds like it is next level stuff.
I heard a lot about two Problems: 1. Rattling Bass at mid Volume 2. People in Chat hear themselves through the microphone did you experience any of those things? Make sme unsure if I should get some
I currently use the HD6XX with a schiit stack and a mod mic wireless for a mic. Would you recommend these over that setup? If i got these i would keep the schiit stack. I dont see any comparisons to hd6xx for gaming. Thanks!
Do you need a dac to make these sound good? Its only 28 oms? Sorry im new to dacs and audio still
Hi z I was wondering if these are very than SHP9500 or no I need a new headset so plz reply
They Look very nice. Still don't know If I should get the tygrs or These.
So would these sound fine and the mic will work without using the longer cable for the mic? Or will I need a dac/amp with an input for mic to use the mic?
hows this for single player gaming? soundstage and fun wise versus something like the hd58x
Lmao love ur reviews i bought the pc37x because of u love them
Hey zeos, ive heard very similar things about the tygr 300 rs. They both are open backs that are good for the money and easy to drive, which have very good imaging and a v shaped frequency response, and are both the same price. Am I to just get the 300r bc the annoying accent color isnt as bright and isnt on the cable? Pls help!
If you had the chance to listen the original 363D, how 373(x), 38X are staking against them? As well I may ask, if you had to compare at least 363/373 with the HD 500 line ( 55X & 59X ) how close they sound? I have 595&598SE and PC363D and I am curious what should be expected if I plan an upgrade? THX! In my opinion PC363 sound more like a 55X ... but I want someone to confirm and compare these a little....
I agree it says 28ohm but they do need an amp I just want a headset that makes me feel the direction of bullets hits through the bass.
"I wish that package would just instantly disintegrate as soon as I took it out of it"
how does the bass sound compared to a DT 990 Pro?
Now the question is because the drivers are angled, does it out perform the 58x in everything but the mids?
Do you plan to review the Verum mkII? i saw you got them in purple
Cheaply built peace of gold best way to explain these not the best build wired but sound is insane it’s a very very very very good headset for 170 I’d say the best headset for the prove highly recommended
I was surprised that my GSP 500's were quite good at music detail seeing they are sold as a 'gaming headset', but as you stated Sennheiser often gets things right. When gaming the 500's are incredible at getting the imaging just right and when used on high gain they really kick. Curious if these PC38x's are like the 500's because they seem similar in build?
Same drivers as the GSP 500/600's
@@LordSmashington Cool thx for the info

Hey z, I think a good game to look at for sound would be post scriptum, it has some fantastic sound design especially when it comes to the tanks
No joke, borderlands 3, with dolby atmos or windows sonic is great. I was completely sold after the fight with mouthpiece.
How do these compare to the fidelio x2hr? Looking for the most immersion on single player type games. Don't care about footsteps and shooter type accuracy.
I just ordered these because of your review. I was about to order PC37X and then saw this. In your opinion what DAC/AMP combo would go well with this? Would the Sennheiser GSX 1000 be a good fit or is there something better within the same price range I could go with. New to DAC/AMP stuff. Really want to get rid of these 5 year old Astro A50s. Thanks
are they better than astro a50s?
@@bretttheillustrator oh yeah they are. I've since moved on to beyer DT 1990 Pros though.
The audio quality he's hearing, can you get it without a dac/amp?
Does these headsets benifit from dolby atmos for headphones? I read some where that even though all headsets work with atmos, not all are designed for atmos.
I don't watch Z-reviews for objectivity because I honestly don't think Z ever eggs on anything he reviews but it's nice to get the sound demos.

Hi, I am looking for new cans for gaming (using DT1990 atm but feeling there could be a better option) and think the PC38X are really interesting. I would not use the mic of these and that's why I still consider to buy headphones over a headset again. Would you say they are better for a competitive fps gamer than the ATH-AD700X or HD6XX? Hearing and being able to locate steps is really important for my usage. Hope to hear back. Thanks in advance!
Yes pc38x had amazing imagining but so do the dt1990s's. If u already have 1990's u really dont need another pair for gaming those are fantastic for gaming. Unless u dont care u could also buy pc38x.

Hey Zeos, how would you compare them to the beyerdynamic TYGR 300R?
Anyone know how these sound for gaming compared to the audio technica ath ad 900x's? Both seem to have really good imaging and soundstage and they're similarly priced. If the 900x's are anywhere close to the 2000x's, then I'd imagine they're a better pick over these.
So would it be overkill to use an amp & DAC on these for gaming?
