We often measure the tragedy of war in the suffering of children, but rarely do we hear from them. Two years ago, filmmakers asked children in Gaza, where nearly half the population is under 18, a seemingly simple question: What is your dream? The video above reveals their answers which, in light of the violence that has embroiled the region in recent weeks, are all the more poignant.

Is there a dream bigger than to go home? I felt it to my core. I felt it, i felt that this young soul at this young age is asking for something which he should have got it from his birth. Their dreams are simple and all connected to their people and their homeland.
Well going home is the very basic core of Zionism (just look it up, there are different interpretations of it but this is the very basic root). So in theory you follow the idea that people are connected to land through generations by tales and tradition? Great, why do you only grant it to Palestinians? All parties should have access to the land, the ones whose homes it once was and now is again and those who made it home in the intermediate time. Arabs who didn't joined attempted genocide 1947-1948 still live in democracy, freedom and prosperity in Israel. Thus, it is possible, but it is hard if leaders (specific Hamas in Gaza) have genocide of Jews as point 1 and no negotiation with Israel as part 2 in their founding charta. Which also caused right wing hardliners to be in the Israel govt. as counterbalance due to security concerns. This generation of leaders are profiting too much from the status quo on both sides. Right wing parties need security concerns to be elected, humanitarian aid is the biggest single source of income for the region and to fill up their own pockets. It is time for a bottom up approach where people from both sides sit together and calmly discuss with each other with respect about the future and make this happen.

What truth can Islam preach to us? Yes, it is not even in the truth that we believe, but rather we believe in reason and in the spirituality that arises when acting in harmony with the natural laws of the world, thus arising spiritual states which are the basis of the new Adventist doctrines. Since beliefs are treated as myths, the only thing that matters is the spiritual path and the path of knowledge, turbulent times are coming, may the Higher Power free us and protect us.

The fact that these children could be among the 4,000 children killed in this genocide breaks my heart. We must remind ourselves that they are not just numbers. Each of the 4,000 children who were killed had dreams and aspirations just like these, their dreams are all built on what they suffer.

True. But there are many populations around the world (Armenians, Somalis, Iraqi Christians, etc) that have little choice but to flee their homes. In 1947, the British tore off a huge chunk of land from India at Independence and created a "homeland" for Muslims called Pakistan. Fifteen million were dispossessed and one million were slaughtered. It is considered the greatest human displacement EVER. But those who lost their land seventy six years ago are mostly not embittered militants organizing cross-border massacres as a sign of "resistance". Well, at least the Indians are not.... In the Indian subcontinent, rather ironically, the people that GOT the homeland regularly carry out terrorist attacks in Indian Kashmir and Pashtun Afghanistan. Pakistan held themselves out as an "ally" to USA after 9/11 to get hundreds of millions in foreign aid, while giving refuge to Saudi 9/11 mastermind, Usama Bin Laden. So, expecting one's land back after seventy six years of lost wars strikes me as foolish.

Islam was forced on inhabitants of Indian subcontinent by waves of Muslim rulers from Central Asia, etc. Yet, though Islam was forced on locals by despotic rulers, Britain decided OVERNIGHT to dispossess 15 million of their land to give Muslims a "homeland". Oppression, occupation, and racism is what turns people into extremism the US government invaded Iraq and helped create ISIS. Hamas was created in 1987 after two decades of Israeli occupation (80% of the people being themselves or their families displaced in 1984 from over 250 villages). The only solution to extremism is justice, instead the US and Israel are convinced you can just keep bombing people.

Watching this on thanksgiving, me complaining that I have felt overworked and burned out because of my marketing job during the black friday holiday, really there's a lot to be grateful for, thank you god for the life you've given to me, this kids would dream to have the same opportunities as I have, I hope the children of gaza find peace one day, really I hope they will!!! I feel for them but I also feel for Israeli civilians. Why should Israeli suffer from religious extremism in their neighborhood? You need to call your senators and congressmen to let them know you don't support this, and ask for a ceasefire. It's one of the only ways we can truly make our voices heard.

This is so powerful. No matter what how hard the times are, children will always find a little childhood of their own in it, and i want to remeber this, with the greatest suffering comes the greatest strength to turn that suffering into hope to make the world a better place.

The Jewish people dreamed of going home to their country for thousands of years, and only got the chance to return and re-establish it after WW2, and they legally purchased land they re-established it on. So Hamas has everything to gain from having as many dead palestinians as possible. The high death toll in Gaza is the desired outcome for Hamas, and they are doing everything they can to make sure it's as high as possible.

I just finish watching the video, I'm crying right now. No kid deserves to live and experience this war. Us humans we have failed to people of Palestine, the governments of the other countries aren't doing anything stop this. I saw that this was recorded two years ago. I’m praying to god that all of these beautiful children are still alive and that they’re able to escape this violence and fulfill each and one of their hopes and aspirations If I have to continue being restless, marching,sharing videos, donating money, writing letters so that at least ONE of these children are able to fulfill their dreams than so be it.
