At the beginning of the establishment of the city, the highway leading to the core scenic spot of Wulingyuan in Zhangjiajie urban area should be detoured to Cili County, and the traffic bottleneck problem was completely solved after the construction of Zhangqing Highway at the beginning of the 21st century. However, with the development of the times, it has been very urgent to widen and upgrade the road leading to the scenic spot, and therefore, on September 8, 2016, a traffic project named "Wuling Mountain Avenue" came into being, which has become a landmark project to open up the tourist fast lane from the urban area to the core scenic spot of Wulingyuan.
Wuling Mountain Avenue is designed by Shanghai Urban Construction Design and Research Institute and Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute, and constructed by Hunan Construction Engineering Group, with a total length of 28.4 kilometers and is divided into two parts: urban section and scenic section. The urban section of 10.2 kilometers is constructed according to the two-way 6 lanes, and the scenic section is 18.2 kilometers according to the two-way 4-lane construction, with a total estimated investment of 3.71 billion yuan, which is the largest municipal engineering project since the establishment of Zhangjiajie City, and it is also the masterpiece of Zhangjiajie's implementation of tourism transformation and upgrading and comprehensive well-off. The avenue will highlight the characteristics of the tourist road, the ecological road and the large channel, pay full attention to the environmental and landscape requirements, pay attention to the cultural landscape and greening, scientifically select the design indicators according to the functional positioning of different road sections, create a good driving environment and urban landscape effect, and build it into a traffic aorta and a world-class theme landscape avenue connecting Zhangjiajie urban area and Wulingyuan scenic spot, and establish a good image of modern, ecological and civilized Zhangjiajie.
It is foreseeable that after the opening of Wuling Mountain Avenue, from the central urban area to the Wulingyuan urban area, the driving time is greatly shortened, only about 20 minutes, the accessibility and safety are greatly improved, the transportation is convenient, and the "time cost" of travel is greatly reduced. The exchange and complementarity between the central urban area of Zhangjiajie and the urban area of Wulingyuan will inevitably undergo revolutionary changes, and the upgrading of Zhangjiajie tourism will inevitably accelerate, and travelers will be more diverse, free and rich in the choice of the six major tourism elements of eating, living, traveling, entertainment, traveling and shopping, which is undoubtedly an encouraging thing.
