Drive to the Jiuzhaigou Shenxianchi Scenic Area and experience the magical 28 turns
There is more than 60 kilometers of winding mountain road from Jiuzhaigou to Shenxianchi, which requires passing through a mysterious road - 28 turns. Seen from the air, this road winds around among the clouds and fog, with a total of 28 turns, so it is called "28 Turns in Shenxianchi".
Turn 28 of Shenxianchi is a section of Zhangda Road (from Zhangzha Town to Dalu Township). Originally there was no direct road, only a detour transit road. It was destroyed in the 7.0-magnitude Jiuzhaigou earthquake on August 8, 2017.
As a post-disaster recovery and reconstruction project, construction of this road started in February 2019 and was completed and accepted on December 23, 2020. Zhangda Road starts from Sizhai, Zhangzha Town, intersects with Chuanjiu Road, and ends at the intersection of Zhima Qiaotou and Jiuruo Road (Provincial Highway S445) in Dalu Township. The total length of the route is 67.7 kilometers, achieving the goal of connecting Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area to Shenxian Direct access to the pool scenic area.
Location: Jiuzhaigou County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China
Starting point: Shangsizhai Village, Jiuzhaigou County
End point: Jiuzhaigou County Shenxianchi Scenic Area
Mileage: 44.8 kilometers

  • I went to Jiuzhaigou in 2015 before the earthquake. I'm so happy that it is all up and running again. Just a wonderful experience driving from Chendu in a Chines tour bus (I was the only westerner on the bus). There was a slip on the road from Chengdu while I was in the town and we had to go back to Chengdu via a different route. This took hours and hours and was a mountain road that was pretty scary, but we made it. At one point the driver told us all to get out so he could go over a tricky bridge with less weight. Quite an adventure. All in all the 3 day trip was one of the experiences of my life!

    • You should ask your government why they didn’t spend more money (which includes all the taxes you paid to your government) on infrastructure in Germany. And what “development aid” were you talking about? There are Germany-China joint ventures in China. Those German companies invest and they collect the profits afterwards. It’s called investment.
