#186. 'ONE GIANT LEAP' For RESIN ART! An EPIC DISCOVERY!
Here is a Resin Art video of me experimenting with my Swipe and Wipe technique and I wanted to see if I could use the heat pad to speed things up, I got bubbles! I wonder if heating the lotion in hot water will lower the viscosity enough for all the bubbles to escape? It's worth a try!
I also wanted to show this new mixer and stand, it doesn't take much to impress me! I will never mix resin by hand again! 😂
Anyway, I'm still really happy with this technique and have seen some of you experimenting with other lotions and creams and having great success! Well done! 😍
Update from viewers and other channels who have tried this technique.... it also works with Vaseline/Petroleum Jelly 😁
Please do NOT experiment with products which may be dangerous if mixed with resin!

I am fully aware of the risks of working with resin products and aim to give you great tutorials in a safe way. I film in a very ventilated area and keep risks to myself low. I would always recommend you to wear full PPE based on the data sheets for the chemicals you are using 😊😊😊.
Stay safe whilst creating beautiful art 🙏 #resinart #resin #epoxyart #epoxy #resinforbegginers #artsandcrafts #swipeandwipe
I think if I heat the lotion bottle to lower its viscosity maybe a day before using again, the bubbles in the lotion should be able to escape allowing me to get a bubble free demold 🥰
How about trying this with Vaseline (petroleum jelly)? It has a lower water content than lotion, so hopefully fewer bubbles.
@maiaallman4635 I did think about this but maybe more difficult to wipe up?
Can you put the lotion in the resin degasing machine? Or pressure pot.
I think I'd try popping the lotion in the freezer for 15 mins before using. IDK, does lotion freeze?
@anitamitchell3452 yes, it should freeze 😊😊
Creating my list now... * baby lotion * wide array of stencils * nifty holder for my let's resin mixer Sir Daniel!! You are costing me a fortune.. 😉 😂 thanks again for all that you do! 💕
Lol Cindy 😆 Sorry 🙈🙊
@@daniel..cooper at least when I make purchases on your recommendation I don't ever suffer buyers remorse.. Should I just message you my credit card number?? That way you can place my order when you do yours.. Lol! I appreciate you!! 💕

Excellent project! And I agree, the coloring of the butterfly took away from your etched project. The powders looked much better. ❤️
I've only found you about a week ago, but I'm really loving your experiments with resin. Thanks for sharing your talents with us!
Thanks and welcome 😊😊😊
I love this effect. The plain glass etching look is what I prefer. Although I like the gold in the leaves. ❤ Thank you so much for posting your experiments.
You’re welcome 😊 Thanks Christine 😊
A very genius idea here! To color the ‘etching’ I would ‘swipe ‘n wipe’ over the design with a wax based colorant, like shoe polish! I think it would come off the smooth surface nicely and just darken the design. Or for a metallic look, something like Rub ‘n Buff might work well. Just a couple ideas that occurred when you went for the acrylic paint 😉
The main line of chalk paint at Walmart has several colors of a wax to go over it.
Hi Daniel, I'm Jenn. I love your videos. Thanks for experimenting for us.
Thank you Daniel for another interesting video, I’d never get bored of watching your videos and how you explain everything in detail, thanks again 😊
My pleasure! Thank you 😊
I'm sure the agents for Istoyo thank you for the EXTENSIVE advertising.
Very good idea about the stencil and cream / lotion! Couple things that come to my mind: - after pouring the resin you could try tapping on the table for a while, as vibration makes bubbles go up - maybe you could try going with a Dremel in the insets to sand down the surface (reducing the bubble's holes) and getting a matte finish for the shapes Great content and ideas, keep it up ! :)
Thank heaven for Mrs. Cooper and her excellent idea with the powders!
I love the bubbles!!!! I know you weren’t looking for the bubbles to be there but they look Amazing!!!❤
I was actually shocked at how reasonable the cost was of the mixer and stand
It's a pretty decent cost for hands free mixing isn't it 😊
Me too!
I've been calling it the Cooper Etching Method!
I agree, the ones left 'untouched' are really classy. Love the narcissus - they remind me a little of _René Lalique's_ stunning glassware. Another banger, Professor Cooper! 🖤
Thanks 😊
These are really beautiful!
I feel like one of the things people like about DIY craft videos is that anyone can do them easily. I enjoy watching your videos and others because I can picture myself doing what I'm watching. Everything used in making resin crafts like colors, powders, foil etc. can financially add up, though in small amounts it's still doable. I feel like when you start using things like heat mats, pressure chambers, cordless mixers and mixer holders though, the simple crafts seem to feel more commercial and less personal. I like videos that introduce these things. It's nice to see what's out there but when added to simple projects I start feeling less interested or just overwhelmed by all the things I need to get in order to do a little craft project. I know people say, "Well, you don't need to use them." If someone is doing a "how to video" though and they are using all these gadgets it's hard to relate to that project. Am I the only one who feels this way? Is it just the poor in me? 😄
I really like your creativity & experimentation! ❤
Thank you! 😊
I liked it without coloring also. The butterfly
The sparkly one does look a bit nicer, although I really liked the clear one the best. Thanks.
This was a real win / win for you. Like you I prefer the original etched look, but Mrs Cooper had a major win too with the nail powder! It really enhanced the butterfly and took away nothing. Kudos to you Mrs Cooper!
Thank you 😊 definitely a win win 😊😊
I would use a soft clay in the stencil and before you lift it, press a fine grade sand paper over it to achieve the etched look. Then lift both of them off and voila! Once the epoxy is cured you can pick out the clay. Maybe a little vaseline over the clay before the sandpaper would make it come out of the resin easier.
Beautiful! Thanks gor sharing!
Saw your video the other day with you having fun...trying to put the baby lotion in the small squeeze bottle. I put the lotion into a piping bag then squeezing that into the bottle worked amazingly. Just thought I'd share incase you hadn't already figured a better way.
Loved this. Thank you 😊
Totally AWESOME! Beautiful suncatcher. Thanks for the tip!
HOLY SMOKES DANIEL!! I absolutely love these. ❤
LOVE how the etchings look with the powders. This is such a cool technique!
Beautiful, well done Mrs Cooper with the nail powder idea
Yes, the heat from the pad basically made the lotion sweat. Which is what caused the bubbles. I don't know if there is a way to truly stop the lotion from reacting to the heating pad with sweats but I'm up to watch you try! 😂
I will find a way 😊😊😊
You are truly breaking the creativity barriers ❤️. Thank you sooooo much for your vision and creativity🥰
Loved the butterfly
Pretty. I like the clear ones, as they are more elegant. Like crystal. The colored ones seem to cheapen them up, like dime store or swap meet buys.
This is wonderful...I have to try it....your so clever 😊
What a cool technique. I would definitely want to try this.
Love this technique!! Playing myself. Thanks for the inspiration
I love the edging.. thank you for teahing me. i love it
Totally love it when bew technique is used. Truly awesome work 👏 🙌 👌
Love, love, love these
Thank you 😊
Super awesome
Very Cool! I’m loving this!
Thank you 😊
I’ve got this mixer as it came with the gallon of resin I ordered from them last week (it was a lightening deal offer) and for me as well, it’s a complete game changer and my resin has never been so clear with hardly any bubbles. I’m off to buy the stand now, as I had no idea they had this too. Oh and I’ve got the baby lotion now and that’s my next thing to do once I’ve got my current project finished! Thanks 😊
Yay, the stand is such a great idea 😊😊😊
Beautiful...absolutely Beautiful ❤
Thank you so much! 😊
Thank you Daniel, this is so amazing.
My pleasure! Thank you 😊
Another awesome result.

My newest addition to my craft devices is a leveling board and heat pad. Love them both! I also bought the stirring mixers that I put in my little Dremel. They work ok

You are so welcome! Thank you 😊
Love the butterfly with the iridescent colors!
Thanks Carol 😊
I think they look great. Thanks again for sharing ❤
You are so welcome! Thank you 😊
You could also do a color resin with the stensile, lift the stensile and let it harden, then over it with clear to get a coloring effect to your clear coasters
I can’t wait to try this!
Thanks Deb, have fun 😊
Love this technique can't wait to try it thanks for sharing

I just looked at this on Amazon yesterday, due to Arthritis in hands,so glad you are reviewing this, i was wondering about the power of the product.
I’m quite enjoying these experiments. I don’t know if you ended up trying it, but you mentioned using toothpaste in one of your videos.
Thanks 😊 Me too 😊 A viewer tried and it stuck to the resin 😔
i love the pastel colors
Thanks Darlene 😊
The upgrade has an AI button that allows it to run by itself for 4 minutes? 😂
It's a good idea 😊
@@daniel..cooper not a bad idea. But AI might be a bit of a stretch. Great video's btw
Those turned out really good!! This is my first time watching your channel and I have already shared this video with a friend who is starting resin art. I believe she will love this also!! 😀

@daniel..cooper yes and so effective too
Oh, yay! You went back to the etch look! LOVE that bubbly texture you got with the heated lotion. It looks really cool. 😍 Mrs. Cooper's idea turned out great! My !ind is spinning in all directions, now. Wow, you could make some really cool Christmas tree baubles with this technique!
Thank you so much 🤗
Good save !!!
Thanks Julie 😊
Wow what a lovely design that turned out to be. I'm new to your channel but loving how you experiment with different thing's making it much different from other channels 👍🏼
Thanks and welcome 😊😊😊
Hi Dan. Another great experiment. Would it be possible to buff out the imperfections or would that simply make things worse? Have a great day.
Hi Anita, I didn't even think about that! Yes, a rotary tool would work, just a quick once over and will have an even more etched look I think 😊
