Are The British Royal Family Illegitimate? | Britain's Real Monarch | Real Royalty

2019 ж. 5 Жел.
2 549 577 Рет қаралды

New evidence is unearthed that strongly suggests that Richard's brother, King Edward IV, was illegitimate. If that were the case, the entire royal bloodline that traces its lineage to Edward has no legal right to the throne. In fact, according to our own constitutional rules, Britain's real monarch today is not Elizabeth II, but King Michael, a resident of Jerilderie, Australia.
From Elizabeth II to Cleopatra, Real Royalty peels back the curtain to give a glimpse into the lives of some of the most influential families in the world, with new full length documentaries posted every week covering the monarchies of today and all throughout history.

  • The thing is, the english "Royal family" knows this. Blood lines, family heritage is their thing. And we can count on there are absolutely no details missed when it comes to that.... They actually might be afraid the public finding out. And to me, it shows how ridiculous the whole "royal thing" is really... Owing my respect as a human being, (also behind closed doors) is what is counting for me. Having lots of money, having no empathy, and arrogance sitting on a high throne certainly doesn't owe my respect, quite the opposite.... This was interesting. Thank you 🙏

  • The problem is that you cant change one element from history, and then leave the other elements the same. Perhaps if the first event happened, the others would've been different and there would be different people on the throne today.

      @jamesthornton9399@jamesthornton939928 күн бұрын
    • @@jamesthornton9399the difference would certainly be different if the correct lineage was preserved at the source of the mishap. The rightful descendants would not be that free to marry whoever they want and they would have had more money that would open them to different opportunities and social circles to mingle and pair up with. The alternative royals that are living today would not have been born and most likely would not have been living in Australia, there would be different lineage entirely in the UK. Moreover, the UK probably would still be catholic as the mishap was before Henry VIII. Possibly there would be enough royal descendants in England that James VI from Scotland would not end up being king James I of England and Ireland as well, Scotland might have still be independent country. There would be different political tensions that would perhaps not lead to Cromwell dissolving monarchy in 1649 and then creation of constitutional monarchy might well not have happened (it started in 1688). In fact who knows, with the anti monarchy movements in Europe in the early XX century the British Royal Family might have been dissolved completely with revolution the same as in other countries if it still held more power at that point. I think it only survived so long as it was not perceived as powerful, the UK might have had a president today instead, but we would never know that. Perhaps the handsome archer has actually saved the RF after all, as it is still going strong today despite the political storms around them.

And although the Beauforts had been "barred" from succession almost a century earlier, Henry VII's claim via that exact line was accepted by parliament in 1485. And that is what counts.

It reminds me of the history of Latin America. When Cristobal Columbus arrived in the americas, he thought he had arrived in India, not the Americas, so he called us Indians, which of course we are not. Also, he did not discovered us, before the Spaniards, there had been the Vikings, the Chinese, who treated us very different to how the pilfering Spaniards did.

  • What a lovely bloke King Michael is! Kind, productive, modest and rational, he seems like he'd be a good leader, regardless of bloodlines. Something that occurs to me is that the departure of the Plantagenet line from royal culture may have been a blessing to the lasting health of King Michael and his family. Being excluded from the royal lineage allowed the Plantagenet descendants to escape the practice of royal inbreeding and bring the fresh, robust, healthy DNA of commoners into their family tree. The consequences of generations of inter-marriage and inbreeding within European royalty brought the monarchy many tragic genetic issues that we know of (haemophelia and porfiry, to name two,) and there are likely additional genetic problems caused by inbreeding that are still present in the current British royal family, but are yet to be identified and diagnosed by medical science. Those who abandoned the royal practice of inbreeding with their cousins appear to be far more healthy - both physically and emotionally - than most of the current Saxe-Coburg-Gotha ("Windsor") clan.

The fires have been concentrated on coastal areas and in hill and mountainous country. We Australians appreciate the love and concern the international community has shown. However, I think we also need to let everyone know the majority of the country has not been burnt. North Queensland, where the Great Barrier Reef is located, is unaffected. One of the big problems that is now stemming from the fires is that many tourists are cancelling holidays or not coming even to places such as the northern, western and central parts of Australia have not really been affected.

  • Interesting and fascinating, but the whole thing about Edward IV's supposed illegitimacy is moot because Henry VII ruled by right of conquest. His marriage to Elizabeth of York was simply to placate York loyalists. If Henry Tudor's conquest didn't make him the rightful king, then the entire Norman line of kings, starting with William the Conqueror, weren't rightful kings to begin with.

    @MLennholm@MLennholm Жыл бұрын
    • That is exactly what I was thinking... I have only watched about 5 minutes but once I knew the reason for the "illegitimacy" I just looked to the comments to find one like this. 1 Edward was not born to be king and only took the throne as revenge for the killing of his father who had power over the brain-dead Henry 6th. 2. After Edward died the throne passed to Richard 3 after whatever happened to the boys in the tower, there is no case for Richard being illegitimate so Henry beating him in battle just wins the claim out and out because he beat the 'legitimate' king at the time. 3. Yes I agree with you that marrying Elizabeth wasn't his claim it was only to strengthen his claim to the throne and to stop everyone picking sides between York and Lancaster bc it united them. Also, I don't think Henry 7th line was banned from taking the crown as bastards can be legitimized and I don't even think there were any issues in the first place, he was the last noble of Lancastrian descent which is where his claim came from. All claims are viable as long as you have the biggest army and the most supporters lol.

It's accidental. ... some people rise up and others are cast down below ... we tend to think of the monarchy as a solid institution ... whereas in fact wealth, privilege and power and status just hang by a thread. There's no such thing as the divine right of kings". ... This beautifully sums up what I take away from this documentary. There's NO such thing as the divine right of kings (monarch).

    • The fact that the family lines of human beings are subject to accidents of fate or whatever other euphemisms one wishes to use for the Will of God really has nothing to do with the monarchist idea of the Divine Right of Kings that I can see. After all what sort of Divine Right did all the Saxon and Norman monarchs have to ownership of Britain to begin with? As Napoleon once said God is on the side the largest armies. That's also a bit of a massive oversimplification since natural disasters such as plagues, meteor collisions, volcanic eruptions or other "Acts of God" have also historically influenced property distribution but no more than the Socialist notion that all of us are equally entitled to an equal share in all the property in the world which is something that has never existed in actual practice anywhere.

      @Red1Green2Blue3@Red1Green2Blue33 жыл бұрын
    • Why should there be The Act of Settlement? If Edward IV was illegitimate, then there wouldn't be a Henry VIII who wanted to be divorced by the catholic church from his first wife Catherine of Aragon, which was denied by the pope. That was the reason why Henry VIII made his own church. Maybe the Kings of England would still be catholic... There would be another history. On the other hand several other countries of northern Europe had seperated from the catholic church. But the history would defiantly different. If the Pole/Hastings family would have inherited the crown, they would have married other partners. Princesses from other countries for example. And princesses from the "Hastings" royal family would have married foreign princes. No one could tell if there would have been a war about religion in England. The british parliament enacted The Act of Settlement because they wanted to exclude catholic descendant of Elisabeth Stuart, but with the alternative line of succession maybe no Britain would exist, if the crown of England and Scotland never merged together. Actually it doesn't matter. The father of Edward IV never disputed, that the fourth child of his wife wasn't his. He had 13 children overall with her. I don't think he would have so much children with her, if he would have thought she betrayed him. And he couldn't be so stupid that he couldn't count the time how long a pregnancy take...

      @red.aries1444@red.aries14443 жыл бұрын
    • @@red.aries1444 Henry VIII's claim to the throne did not depend on Edward IV. His father, Henry VII, did explicitly claim the throne through his mother's Beaufort ancestry. And although this family had been blocked from succession a century earliert, parliament accepted this exact claim by Henry VII in 1485. So he was crowned king BEFORE he married Elizabeth of York, Edward IV's daughter. And one more thing. If Edward IV had not claimed to be king, then the Lancaster main line would possibly not had died off during the Wars of the Roses. Edward's brother George, the duke of Clarence, would have been too weak to claim the throne. So Henry VI's son, prince Edward of Wales, would have become king somewhere around 1480 after his father's natural death (not murdered in 1471 by Yorkists). So the house of Lancaster would have persisted and we would see a completely different royal line today.

    • @@theodoravonwied5441 I think there is a misunderstanding. :-) I don't doubt Henry VII claim to the throne. Any other claim is irrelevant after the parliament acceptet Henry VII as the rightful king. After this it really doesn't matter even if he wasn't of royal blood. My point is, that the Act of Settlement says that everyone who isn't a descendant of Sophia of Hannover and who married a catholic is excluded. You can't argue with any later law to something which happenened before. There are to much possibilities over the years. And even if George Plantagenet had inherited the throne, then the following English kings and queens had definitely married other partners, so there never would have been a Michael Abney-Hastings. So nice interesting story, but any other person with more rights to the english throne than the actual queen Elizabeth is a completly stupid idea.

They were both born in Germany in the 1860s. But even that is not clear cut as Queen Mary’s grandmother and great grandmother were born in England being Queen Victoria and one of her daughters. Otherwise you have go back another generation to find more German ancestry to Prince Albert. The Hanoverian dynasty derived its claim to the throne from George I’s grandmother Elizabeth, daughter of James VI of Scotland I of England (In other words his British heritage was much closer to him than the Queen’s German heritage). All royal families until the twentieth century tended to have foreign spouses. By emphasising the foreign heritage and not the British is artificial. The present Queen has comparatively little non British blood, particularly when compared to virtually all her predecessors back to Elizabeth I. Elizabeth I and Edward VI are almost unique in the British monarchy after William the Conqueror in that they had very little non British blood

All of her children and grandchildren ruled in the European kingdoms but could not unify as was prophecied. All there for us to study. Prophecied thousands of year ago. Cheers Pat

  • Henry VII claimed the throne by right of conquest, not by blood, so Edward IV being illegitimate doesn't even matter. If we want to ignore that, this is all assuming Edward IV was the only illegitimate monarch in the line which seems unlikely. In any case, pretty much any Brit or even European alive today would have somewhere in their family tree most Brits alive in the 1400s that produced any offspring due to pedigree collapse. So we're all royalty and it's all nonsense.

  • Would love it if you did the same to trace who should legitimately be called the True Prince of Wales. When Llywelin was ambushed and beheaded in 1282 his wife Elinor and baby daughter Gwenllïan were taken and incascerated in a Nunery at Sempringham in Lincolnshire and were imprisoned there until their deaths. This ensured no legitimate heir to the title of Prince or Princess of Wales. Would love to know, based on similar research who is alive today and could be proved to be that legitimate heir. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 BTW we are still not allowed to bring their remains home to Aberffraw on Anglesey, the location of their historical Royal seat.

    • The whole Dutch house of Orange is illegitimate!! Wilhelmina could't get children. Juliana was adopted. Her first born was from her father...! They kept her away, somewhere in Holland. Beatrix was the 2nd child. She and the rest ( our so called king and princesses) are all bastards, because Juliana was adopted, so no one has the blood nor genes from the first Dutch king, hundred years ago.

    • It is not important who is supposed to sit in the throne but who does. Power is not given - its taken. I will give you a good example , my country (Bulgaria) had a pig farmer as Tzar for 1 year , just because he managed to get the throne threw rebellion while the Tzar was at war. If you look at the English Monarchy its the same. For example Queen Mary (Henry 8th daughter) should of never been queen because her brother Edward 4th (king at the time) took away her and Elizabeth's titles and made them illegitimate. He left the crown to Lady Jane Gray. She was queen for few months until Mary took the throne via Rebellion. In fact the Tudors took the crown via Rebellion during the war of the Roses.

Despait evry thing, this don't make the last 500 years of British history invalid and make the great actions of sovrans like Elizabeth I, Victoria I, Eduard VII, George V, George VI and Elizabeth II invalid as well, the guided the nation in pece and in war in a ever chaneging world. • No.... Henry the 7ths ancestor was legitimised. He still was inheriting through the female line though which I believe was not generally accepted but he still became king through right of conquest. He won the battle at Bosworth and was proclaimed king. Edward the 4ths legitimacy only suggests he may have had an illegitimate wife in Elizabeth of York but changes nothing else.

Studying Royal History was a favorite hobby of mine for many years. My own husband is a researcher and Predictive Modeler of Neural Net Models. His Undergraduate degree is in History. His Masters Degree is in Social Science. Research was a perfect and passionate career choice for him. We have oftentimes said that good, trustworthy imperial data tells the real stories through its PESKY LITTLE FACTS and, oftentimes, not simply through the LARGELY KNOWN FACTS. Certainly that wisdom has been showcased by you and your passionate love of research. BRAVO GOOD to you 👏 👍. I certainly respect your devoted work.
