The Most Bizarre Fake Cop Case is a Real Cop

@Copwatchtv obtained body camera footage of an incident involving a Washingtonville, Ohio police officer who posed as a fake federal cop. Officer Logan Malik was arrested by Boardman Ohio Police for impersonating a federal officer.
Malik was arrested after local police were called to the Holiday Inn and Sheetz gas station in Boardman, had already pleaded not guilty in Mahoning County Court to impersonating a peace officer. The local charges were dropped after prosecutors learned of the federal indictment.
Malik allegedly told a witness that U.S. Marshals had arrested five "skinheads" earlier at the mall and said the witness should "call him, not 911" if any "skinheads" were spotted in the area.
The featured content is NOT intended to be violent nor glorify violence in any way. We are sharing this footage STRICTLY for the purposes of news reporting and education.

He gives new meaning to the old adage, "You have the right to remain silent, I advise you to use it"! Sage advice, sadly forgotten in his desperation; As the longer he rambled, especially after 'pegging' who he thought the 'concerned citizen' was, and decided to verbally demean them to an officer, and whilst forgetting there were TWO separate, completely independent calls, reports, he was SO self absorbed in trying to proclaim his 'innocence' that he failed to recognize that he sounded even more and more guilty....kept digging that hole, and kept asking the officers for even bigger and bigger shovels! By the time he finished his rant, he had already given his own post Miranda statement so damning, that he essentially convicted himself so far out and beyond the reach of even the most experienced, seasoned, perfect record defense lawyer(s) in the nation. Wow!

  • This story is actually sad as hell if you read into it, and I encourage people not to judge him too harshly like I did before hearing it. The dude saved a man back in 2019 from a train accident but failed to save the man’s wife, who died in front of him as he was attempting to save her. The incident led to him developing severe PTSD, depression, and anxiety, and at the time of the this arrest was seeing a psychologist who had spent the 3 years prior trying to figure out a concoction of prescriptions that would help him. Point being, the dude wasn’t in his right mind and while he shouldn’t have continued being a cop, I do think having some empathy for the situation is warranted. Man was going through trauma after doing something extremely heroic and selfless and he was having trouble recovering from it.

This poor guy (fake marshall) tried to save an elderly couple and their dog, trapped in their car on train tracks. He was able to save the man (the dog was saved by another person), and just as the fake marshall was trying to save the 89 year old woman and get her out, the crossing signs came down and he couldn't save her. She died right in front of his eyes. In video of him directly after the incident, he is a completely different person. He is going through some type of breakdown here after suffering from severe mental health issues because of the train accident. I would never guess this was the same person. It's very sad.

None the less, he still has a chain of command to do his job and he would get his teeth taken out by his peers before he ever got a chance to pull this if the police didn't catch him. • The local charges were dropped when it was picked up federally. He was arrested again for the federal charge when he showed up to court. He and his lawyer tried claiming he doesn’t remember anything that happened on the day in the video until he was arrested and in the cop car. The lawyer said he has PTSD from trying to help a woman who’d been hit by a train and the medications he was on effected his judgment. The lawyer requested a psych eval and the judge ruled him sane. I believe he then changed his plea from not guilty to guilty. He’s supposed to be sentenced in September.

Regardless his lawyer is earning his money on this one. Just hope he doesn't take a check, this kid doesn't sound like he has enough cash to buy a real service weapon or afford a tow truck...lawyers going to be expensive for a Criminal Federal case. Sounds like they went for the hail Mary, and it didn't take...hence the guilty plea. He'll probably get 3 years and never be near weapons or badges ever again. Worse could happen.

No education, misdemeanor arrests, traffic violations, tattoos, beards, painted fingernails, pony tails, bracelets, crappy uniforms…. The list goes on. Nor do they do the extensive psychological, physical, written testing, and background investigations that larger departments can afford to do.

    • @@warrenmcelroy4718 Exactly. The vast majority of police officers know very little about firearms. Having been a LEO myself and associating with hundreds of them including spending thousands of hours of range time with lots of LEO's, Most LEO's are not firearms proficient nor have much firearms knowledge. However there are those that are EXTREMELY proficient and Extremely knowledgeable. These are mostly the SWAT types that see being more "gun guy" is a good way to come home alive at the end of the day. But many run of the mill cops don't have much interest in firearms, nor much interest in becoming better at using them. Like all generalizations, there are always exceptions to the rule.
