Canelo lost but he lost at bivols weight class. Nothing to be ashamed of. When you consistently fight the best of the best especially at a much higher weight class then you'll eventually run into some issues. The weight definitely effected canelo tonight. Carrying that much more weight and muscle is extremely difficult. We need more boxers like canelo cause all the other guys arent taking any risk. Im tired of seeing good boxers padding their records with low tier opponents.

He fought Bivol and ofcourse as u and everyone has mentioned ""Bivol was too big"" and that's exactly what Canelo wanted becuz it wont hurt his image as oppose to losing against Benavidez at 168. It's exactly what Mikey did to avoid Loma when he moved up to fight spence and rather take a L against a bigger fighter than someone more dangerous at his weight class. With that being said, Canelo cant fight at 175 meaning HE HAS to stay at 168 and face the music and fight Benavidez.......Honestly this is the begining of his downfall

Canelo waited until GGG was past his prime before giving him a shot, and then lost if not for Las Vegas judges (same judges who scored him too highly against Bivol. Canelo chose Bivol, the weaker of the 2 Light Heavyweight champions. He could of chosen the much heavier-handed Beterbiev if he truly "wanted to challenge himself". Canelo absolutely DOES NOT choose the toughest opponents. Canelo absolutely CHERRY PICKS opponents who he thinks he has the best chance against. Canelo is no "boxing great".

A lot of people forget he was getting outboxed by Kovalev as well. The only difference is Bivol has the best defense in the division and Canelo could not hit his head the whole fight. Canelo got lucky with the last minute knockout on Kovalev. He is a hell of a fighter but he needs to stay around 160-168.

Here’s the thing. Bivol went into that ring at 190~195lbs thats his natural weight. He’s limb at 195, he’s bouncy an fast at that weight. Canelo is 175 after eating a lot and lifting heavy weights and walks around at 170~175lbs. The extra muscle and weight you put on makes you slow and flat footed. What I saw in the fight, Bivol the bigger fighter moved naturally and fluidly, Canelo the temporary bigger fighter moved sluggish and got tired faster. No excuses, but there’s a reason for weight classes.
Sorry your way off on your weights. Canelo is a big guy, probably walks around close to 190 these days.

The truth is hes changed his fighting style going up in weight classes. Hes tried to challenge fighters with hard power hitting but what got him to the top was pure defensive and counter boxing. It's almost like he's forgotten about that element in his boxing. Greats like Pacquiao esp Mayweather never changed there styles, just improved if anything. He needs to go back to his slick and speed. It's what got him through Golovkin and Jacobs

The plan you can tell was to tire out the shoulders of bivol and then the openings to hit him on uppercuts. Great strategy against a boxer that keeps his arms up for defense, BUT, bivol and heavier boxers can take bigger hits and can endure more. I think canelo had to throw more punches than expected at bivols shoulders, but this took a toll on canelos energy levels. You can tell he was not comfortable in this weight and he got tired real quick. Props to canelo but he should go back down...this isn't his weight...

Not the expected outcome, but Canelo tried, he moved up in weight to fight another champion. Dared to be great, can't fault him for that. No one else is testing themselves like Canelo. The weight class may just be too far of a step for Canelo. He'll be back. The loss does nothing to affect his legacy, still P4P best.
