Needs a part two, as backpacks are rarely empty with things such as folders, writing pads, computers etc, also what if you left the front of the Byrna in the back, as if you were caught off guard and shot with both pieces of armor in place.
this, so much this
You could be hauling more armor in your backpack
yeah sometimes you have your chronograph in your back pack too!
*Visions of armor-clad folders, writing pads, computer cases, and other school supplies come to mind* If someone hasn't made these items, they should. Yes, you could be hauling more armor.
Yep
I love the fact that Scott's been conditioned into destroying any watermelon in sight after he hears any alarm bell whatsoever 😂😂 kinda like Pavlov's dog
Scott’s bell? Or Pavlov’s Ballistics?
Both. Both. Both is good
The numbers mason.....the watermelons Scott

He should visit Cave City, Arkansas, during the summer
The backpack that folds out to a chest rig is pretty cool. That should be the one with rifle rated armor
I'm just going to replace the plates
@@creature-hm1xb if you do make sure they fit properly and don't fall out 'cause they weight too much! :)
Byrna does offer a rifle rated version too now.
Only because America and Kentucky ballistics exist
From the damage and the slow-mo, I genuinely did not think the 4-bore was stopped. It looked like it was spitting bones out of the zombie.
To be fair, not much can stop a 4 bore
@@valdamir-gamer1223to be fair, nothing can atop a 4-bore

After taking many years of AP classes, I can say that I am not sure how bulletproof my backpack itself would have been; but I know that my homework definitely was.
Back in my day we didn't need our bullet proof bags. We just used our hw.
@@CaptainJG95 Back in my day we didn't need bulletproof bags or schools because a kid who was angry at a bully would just gather other victims of the bully for a well-targeted group beatdown. Without any weapons. - Me, I dealt with my bullies by laughing at them WHILE they were hitting me. Crazy is armor against these people. - edit: I wonder how many 2-3" thick textbooks it would take to equal the ballistic protection of these armor plates?
@@MonkeyJedi99 Answer: A whole hell of a lot. Just sayin. End of school year celebration was to shoot my kids school books. Your kid would have spinal injuries just from carrying around that much weight in books. My kids enjoyed shooting their school books though. The ones I didn't steel for some light reading.
@@VoxeltheToaster I'm laughing, imagining the final exam in Armor Piercing class. "Run as fast as you can at this plate of steel. If you get through, you get an A+."

I love that Scott has so much fun with his comedic intros. That alone brings a chuckle. Well done.

His cheese done slid off his cracker!
I always wondered about these back packs, thank you! I would have liked to see what the difference would have been if books were in one of the bags.
"Just put a thumb in it, you'll be fine." God bless you for the awesome content as always, Scott. Those plates are pretty impressive.
That ought to be on a t-shirt!
"just put a thumb in that, you'll be fine"... He says it so casually at this point that I about fell out of my chair laughing. This saying should be in every episode and on shirts.
@@MonkeyJedi99it is! He made some T-shirt’s after his 50 cal exploded and his juggler was severed and he had to put his thumb in the wound to stop it bleeding
@@baxterbunch I know. I was trying to be funny.
@@MonkeyJedi99sorry thought u were actually suggesting it haha
It would have been interesting to see if the first backpack would be able to stop some of the rifle calibers if it was in the "backpack mode" as in both plates on the same side. Since you wouldnt walk around with it in vest mode all the time.
I was wondering that too. Could wear it backwards (frontwards?) in a pinch.
It’s really cool to see how well these backpacks work. But it would be really cool to see how well they do with books and other school supplies in them
Well if it stops a .308 without books, doesn't it make sense that it would still stop rounds with books?
The fact this is even asked. America.
@@fluphybunny930 I’m a Canadian who is curious
@spencerthompson7955 if anything it would stop rounds better with books really
@@jamesallenmainieri that’s why I want to see it. It was impressive empty but I think it could definitely stop more if it was full
My army buddy's wife is a school teacher. One of her students randomly gifted her with a bullet proof backpack one day and it weirded her out a bit because this was the quiet awkward kid who never talks 😂 Anyway, she ended up giving me the backpack since she had no intention of using it. I decided I'd keep the bag and take the plate out and see if I could defeat it. Nothing I owned would punch a hole thru it up to and including multiple shots of 30-06. Weird kid, decent gift 👍
Were there any incidents after that?

I laughed good when the back side of that harpoon smacked Mr Zombie upside his forehead at 7:09 😂
“Just put a thumb in that and you’ll be just fine.” Brilliantly delivered. Like you planned it. Thanks for taking us to the range.
Its a reference to when his gun blew up and hit his throat
Yep, I know that episode quite well.
That Bryna pack is kinda cool you gotta admit. Having something concealed as a backpack and just simply pulls out to a complete carrier setup on the go is *PRICELESS*
I definitely like that one more than the other similar ones I've seen.
Amen brother. Also if you don't have time to pull the plate to the front. You got 2 plates in the back. Think about it.
The pull out front bit is really the selling point imo. The back of a backpack will likely already have some decent bullet resistance from its contents. I remember how damn thick my college math and chemistry text books where.
Yeah that was an instant sell for me
Honestly, send your kids the school with them. This is ingenious.
Life lesson: don't let Scott get near watermelons unless you want trouble
And that's why we can never ever go to the company picnic again.
Hey Scott, have you ever thought of using those G-shock stickers? It would be interesting how much G force goes through the body.
im gonna need these for back to school shopping. Thanks!
The shotgun may be an old school weapon, but its power is unmistakable. Very impressive bullet resistant backpacks. Great video.
“Put a thumb in it and he will be just fine.” Hilarious 😂 🤣
Is there a morbid joke in that sentence, or am I just morbid myself for thinking there is one?

I’m glad you bought the Raging Hunter 460. I got mine about a year before they did their release at shot show and couldn’t find ANYTHING on it after I initially made the purchase. Couldn’t find any videos or even an article online about it. Not even on their website.
Lots of great gun related channels but Scott is the best blending humor and information. I look foward to every second of his videos including that walnut brain T Rex and Scotts knowledge on Dinosaurs
Thanks for answering our questions Scott, you really have our backs.
I’m British and never fired a gun but I absolutely love this channel!! It’s interesting and Scott makes it fun. Thanks for the awesome content!!
Im from Belgium 🇧🇪 fired a lot of Guns anyway we're on track kind regards brother
Come on over the pond and have some fun, just gotta go to a free state 👍
Also in the UK. Give clay pigeon shooting a go. It's really fun and shotguns really don't kick that much, even my mate's girlfriend who is under 5ft could give it ago.
I'm English, fired plenty of guns starting when l was 9 my uncle and his crazy pal gave me a double bareled 12 bore to shoot, l was a skinny undersized specimen even for 9 years ( don't worry folks l grew and filled out to be the magnificent figure of a man l am now ) it fired both barrels at once and put me on my arse, my uncle and his pal were rolling around laughing their arses off, l had a bruise the size of a saddle on my shoulder and chest l laughed too to prove l was a man, hoping to get their approval. Thenat 13years l joined the Army Cadet force, and we were taught how to fire Lee Enfield, 303s a Bren Machine Gun ( fed by a magazine ) and as a treat an officers 9mm pistol. When we were taught to strip n clean the weapons we were assured that if we chose the army as a career on leaving school we would be far in front of the other trainees because we could shoot strip n clean the weapons already. So imaging my face when joining the army a few years later l was handed an SLR 7.62 automatic rifle and a General Purpose Machine Gun belt fed lol. Leaving the army later on l bought several air weapons and a blackpowder cap n ball pistol replica and shot those for years but after marrying l gave them away as l had no time for them really. Now at 66 last year l discovered co2 pistols and to be honest was amazed our ultra control government let us have them especially as some look so real you would need to be very very close to spot the detailed difference, l decided to go for the antique guns, Colt 45 peacemaker 5.5 inch barrels l have 3 one in silver pellet version, one in black pellet version, one blued in bbs. Also a Schofield m3 a Remington 1875 fires both pellets and bbs,. And a Weble VI in. 22

I’m laughing so hard, i just watched when Scott shot the .308, so I was like “He should do the 4 bore lol”. Only to then end up at 15:48 him pulling out the 4 bore! LOL
Good video. It’d be great to see the results with a full backpack, to see what effect the rounds still have on the plates. For… academic purposes.
Big fan, great job Scott!!! Can you conduct a ballistic test on the bullet stopping ability of books? Ya know, rate the penetration of various calibers compared to book thickness?
This was a really interesting test! I wonder how much more protection a couple of text books and maybe a laptop would add to the plate?
I mean if nothing else they help reduce fragmentation
I wish we did not live in a world where bullet proof backpacks needed to exist, but since we do it is at least nice to know they are effective.
While yes it would be great to not need to worry about this kind of thing . I see these as more for the gear head defense minded crowd not as much as a thing for school children

It's sad that backpack armor is actually a thing but I'm glad that these two brands/models function as advertised. Overall, I'm impressed. 👍
Regardless of the gimmickry or otherwise, the fact that such things even exist is a huge condemnation of the state of gun laws in the US. Ours in the UK have gone way too far in the other direction, but somewhere in between there is an ideal situation.
What's really sad is how EXPENSIVE any kind of body armor is. Plus, it actually expires after a few years and you have to replace it.
@@txgunguy2766Well, it's complicated and expensive to make. I live in a country where I have absolutely no need for it and I prefer it that way.
@@januszkurahenowski2860 Most Americans never need It either. The media sensationalizes the relatively few shootings at schools, malls, etc. and completely ignores the inner cities where most legitimate multiple victim shootings occur due to gang violence. Also, those in power are not actually interested in stopping the violence, otherwise they wouldn't be trying to disarm the public thereby creating more potential victims for the criminals who are completely unaffected by the laws they don't follow anyway. It's almost all marketing and media hysteria, can even *you* name the last mass school shooting you heard of? I bet if you can even think of it at all it probably took you a long time, that's how insanely rare they are. In another perspective, in the US, more people have died to *accidental falling* in the last -year-; than the entirety of people have died to school mass shootings in over *FIVE DECADES* - that's more than 50 years of mass school shootings still not killing more people (and that includes all adults too, not even just counting kids) than *literally falling* has in the last 1 year.
