For the jets to allow the fewest goals this season, I didn't see this coming. Didn't think the Avs would be able to light up Hellibuek like they are. And you can definitely tell the Avs have changed things up in their own zone to help Georgiev.
Biggest thing is, they're clearing rebounds. That was Avs reg. season Achilles. Jets seem insistent on running with the Avs and the Avs are skating them under.
@@pronouncedZordonnie, this!!! Finally I find someone who saw the same thing. I don’t know how many times I yelled or wanted to yell,”Clear it!” Seems so basic.
@@pronouncedZordonnie Exactly, the Avs are concentrating on controlling their defensive end first, allowing the Avs to maintain offensive pressure and play their game.
Definitely cleaner defensive zone play, and to average 5.5 goals in 3 games thus far has me way less nervous than I was pre playoffs. I didn't even really mind the first loss just seeing them net 6 felt like a win.
17 in 3 baby!
Man I hope Dillons hand is ok! That looked nasty!
Seen the picture of the cut, man it looks like a deep cut.
His own fault FS. That being said hope he heals quickly
@JaimieB.DogJack exactly at that point why tf are you scrumming. Just get tf off the ice and live to see another day. The score was already 6-2 and you got blown tf out
I'm American, from Colorado...I'm really digging your channel man. You have so much insight, I'm watching your reviews of all different NHL play-off games, really good stuff!
He's been doing this for quite a while at this point hahaha

Welcome to the channel! I’ve been watching his channel since the 2022 season! Really enjoy his content! I think you will as well! Keep coming back!
Shannon IS the hockey guy lol.
It seems like the Jets forgot how to play hockey in the third period. Sloppy play, unnecessary penalties, and Hellebuyck not performing well.
im a canucks fan so i know how is it with goalie issues since demko always seems to be out on Injury, and i guess now that Hellebuyck seems to be playing not well which unfortunately is not what you want to see but if not canucks for cup then i want the jets to win so Hellebuyck better step up lol
Hard for Hellebyuck to do his job well when his team is short handed for half the third lol
Is it just me or did his five hole open up like crazy to let the Avs score like crazy.
@@aonstability5428but that is his job…
The altitude and the way the Avs push the pace of the game can wear out visiting teams by the 3rd period.
As a Jets fan I can say after watching this game the Jets are just outclassed, they can't keep up with the Avs!
Avs looking like the avs again this year and it feels good. Hope georgie continues to power up
LEHKY IS BEAST FOR SURE!!!!
It seems like the Avs know Hellebuyck is weak five hole. They've been putting them in a lot there.
God the amount of writing and for multiple games everyday. Shannon works hard.
This game was nuts! Sorry about Dillon for sure, I hope he is okay.
that was one gapping gash he had damm , but he will be fine probly 100 stiches
I was in the nose bleeds and I couldn’t believe how much blood was left in the ice from the high stick on Toews.
So happy for Parise and Mittelstadt 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Parise Lehkonen(?) and Middlestadt make a nice line
That's a lot of writing, respect
Lol it's crazy
Avs fans I’m getting those 2022 feels. If this level of play is sustainable, we should make a deep run. Looked like we needed that game 1 wake up call
No to mention we still have Jonathan Drouin coming back next series.
Bad Jets! Bad! You are all grounded!
Now go to your rooms!
Jets? More like _Airplane!_
Ought to be benched, every one of them
This series reminds me of the Avs playoff series against Calgary in 2019. Lost the first game to a higher seeded Canadian team then came roaring back
This game was awesome!! I was kind of worried going into the 3rd but then I remembered that my Avs do some of their best work in the last frame. I was not disappointed! Excellent game boys!!! Sunday afternoon will be a very important game to win. #GoAvsGo
I thought Winnipeg had a good chance of beating Colorado after game 1, but not now. Colorados offense is overwhelming the jets defense and looks to beat Winnipeg easily. AVS in 5 or 6 games.
Casey Middlestadt was huge here... galaxy brain from Sakic/MacFarland yet again
I was wrong about Georgie. He has been very good these last two games. Great turnaround after a season that was not great and a stretch run that was worse and a first game that was horrible. I didn't expect this. Props to Georgie for bouncing back. Not easy to do. Scoring 5 or 6, giving up 2, That'll work.
I haven't watched much Jets hockey this year so I didn't expect the 3rd period collapse. As an Avs fan I was very nervous at the end of the second - it was great to see Georgiev's spectacular save on the breakaway after the 2 Jets goals, but it totally felt like Hellebuyck was gonna steal. Such an interesting goalie story this series - the high caliber CO offense vs Hellebuyck, and Georgiev just keeping his team in games; so far Georgie is winning the mental battle big time.
The team doesn't seem to get rattled when they're playing from behind or when something goes wrong, and its a huge x-factor. Credit to Bednar
@@JohnnyFalco most definitely, it's kind of their signature with the current core! During their 2022 cup run, they trailed at some point in 10 of their 16 wins...
All the best for Dillon. Wow, gotta love this playoff series. It makes the rest look like snooze fests. Thanks for the awesome recap THG 🤘 Go Avs Go!
Ball was electric. Great game to see live
"Aight Imma head out." Hellebuyck in the 3rd period.
Jets asked for a white out and Avs delivered.
All those Jets in the box ... what'd they think , they was at the opera ?
Clearly the Refs were Bias for the Avs you 🤡 6-2 powerplay advantage when the avs took just as many Penalties
@@ODSTGodzillaMaybe the Jets should show some discipline
@@ODSTGodzilla OK tell me which power-play the avalanche did not deserve. I can tell you about a power-play and a goal that the Jets didn’t deserve.
@@ODSTGodzilla Always enjoy, “It was the refs fault” guy 😂
@jimmiller5110 they deserved them all but the 4min high stick wouldn't have happened if the trip on connor wasn't a missed call. That's it.
Winnipeg Jets are an enigma wrapped in a riddle surrounded by mystery.
If you let the avs win on the boards and let them forecheck you they are unbeatable. The physical play is not working for the jets right now And colorado is just wearing them down every period that goes by. Love what i'm seeing from my team!! Toews and middlestadt Were unbelievable last night and thats saying something when you have mckinnon and makar on your team too
Okay, it was a mistake to pick Winnipeg for my bracket... Colorado starting to look scarier and scarier as we go on here. Every time I came back to this game, they had the Jets pinned in their own end lmao.
Left for work during 2nd intermission. Didn't even get to work and it went from 2-1 to 4-2. Pleasantly surprised lol
Im not going to blame Hellebuyk, when you are so overwhelmed in the shots and puck possession by a team with this much offensive talent any goalie is going to break eventually. Playoff Avs are just completely different
Jets were not in control for most of the game LOL. It was pretty even till the 3rd.
What a game, Avs!!! Let’s gooooooooooo!!!
Avs' fan here, first third of the third period is when I relaxed a bit. Good game by Avalanche. They play inspired. Mikko needs to step up
Is it me or has Moose not been the same since Ekholm smashed him? I was noticing he’s not quite dominating like we’re used to seeing him, a bit concerned for him…. Still had that nice apple across the crease to Big Val. What a game Go Avs!
@@aaronm5535 Some could argue it was the concussion, others could argue that he does this. He randomly goes on ghosting spells. It's annoying though as him being a ghost causes weak forechecking, turnovers, sloppy passes, and scared to shoot the puck
@@aaronm5535, I agree, however, as someone said, Mikko also does this bs-floats around.
Yup. Rantanen has been subpar so far. Stupid turnovers, passes inaccurate, skating slowly, poor decision making. However, i expect him to improve as the series goes on.
Colordao has 11 goals the last two games, 9 of them coming over only 2 periods.
It was a beautiful game! 😢 I loved it all! Go avs
Time to do a video on the jets. 17 goals against in 3 games is just fucking ridiculous
I swear it's the same thing with the Jets every playoff run; when the going gets tough, the tough doesn't get going.
Go Avs Go!!!
Boy the Avs sure have figured out Hellabyuck
Are the Jets a 737 Max?
if u put this at .5 playback speed it sounds like Shannons drunk. its pretty hilarious
Av's are starting to roll
Would not recommend giving up a 4 minute power play against the Avs. Especially a dumb penalty. They have to play crisp if they have any chance to win
Jets should really consider starting Brossiit for game 4
As a Canadian Avs fan it drives me nuts that they can't say his name right
drives me nuts they wont let our broadcast team do the games .one bad thing about the sportsnet app always have the other teams feed for some dumb reason even home games in reg season
Taunting our goalie while their own lets in 5 goals a game... Priceless. Series is far from over though. Next game is incredibly important. The Jets are a good team and Hellebuyck is too good to keep up this level of bad... we have to play hard on Sunday.
it doesn't matter how good we are, we cannot do anything in the playoffs
Exactly. IMHO, whoever wins game 4, wins the series.
Felt a lot like game 2. They had a lead, got into penalty trouble and gave it up, and Colorado dominated from there. Happened a little later tonight but same script
More the refs gave it to Avs 6-2 powerplay advantage when the avs took just as many Penalties
@@ODSTGodzillaMaybe the Jets shouldn't be undisciplined
Sometimes it's not about how good the winner is, it's about how bad the loser is. I don't know if it was the altitude or what, but the Jets couldn't have skated any slower than if their skates were on sideways. Breakaways were a dime a dozen for the Avs..."Paging Mr. Hellebuyck. Connor Hellebuyck. Please return to the crease and guard your net."...
Even the play by play dude was saying Nichushkin right yet some how other dude couldn’t lol
Choo-Choo!
Dillon definitely going to need surgery on that hand. Don't think a few stitches will be good enough to fix that huge gash. Hope hes ok though. Go Avs Go
Blaming the refs for your team losing is the laziest excuse
I’ve seen that on here too. Amazing? What PowerPlay did the avalanche not deserve to have? I did see a PowerPlay. The Jets did not deserve on a bogus hook and then a non-call and holding the stick and then they score?
Jets now in must win territory going down 3-1 is a bad place to be
Not many teams can skate with the intensity and 200-foot game the Avs bring to the ice. A few can, and others are built to beat us with strength or strong defense. As soon as I saw the Jets wanted to play like the Avs, I felt a lot more comfortable. Georgie still has his moments, but we can protect that and we don't really have another weakness. Still think this series has more to it, think the Jets will step up in game 5 at least, but I'm gaining confidence in my Avs again.
Hellebuyck is having the Marty Turco problem. Fantastic regular season goalie but may be getting eaten alive by inconsistency in the playoffs.
Maybe Hellebuyck is the Clayton Kershaw of hockey. Great in the regular season but not in the playoffs.
He was good vs Edmonton during lockdown Canadian division playoffs. Jets were outplayed in each game yet managed to sweep the Oilers.
It happens to the best of them. Some of them get over it later in their careers, some never do.
Verlander eventually did
@@bbadlar3Verlander also ended up on a stacked Astros team that really didn't need him to win.
You know Alexei Yashin?
The Jets always have been and always will be their own worst enemy. All credit to Colorado, but the Jets aren't helping their cause.
Casey Middlestadt is an absolute beauty of a player. If Drouin comes back, the line of Nuke/Middlestadt/Lehkonen would probably be the best 2-way line in the league.
That third period was brutal. The Jets seem to get mental breaks when they hold a lead in this series.
Jets are 38-1-1 when leading going into the 3rr which they were 2-1, but it all went downhill unfortunately
That's a nice hat 🤠
All that smack talk of Georgiev and he’s been the better goalie
He’s had better defence is the biggest thing. The Jets look sloppy, and their pk is atrocious. Helle can only do so much
@@ConnorLogan51you mean the number 1 defense in the NHL isn’t playing defense? That’s weird.
@@seanhartel5362 I feel like you think you're thinking you got me with this, but I agree, it is weird. They've mostly abandoned their game plan that made them the best defensive team in the league, and resorted to a much more passive style to try and stop the Avs. It's had the opposite affect, obviously.
@@seanhartel5362That's not what he said at all. But you got your internet pats on the back, so good job.
@@davidwhidden9337 what did he say then? I said it was weird that they were so stout defensively all year, then come playoff time, they completely move away from that. You just sound salty and butthurt.
It was a wicked whimpering Winnipeg night.
Jets really shot themselves in the foot on this one
Winnipeg don't stand a chance to offensive power house avs. And hellebuck has let way too much goals
Game over for Jets
Series over for Jets
the jets seem to have forgot they aint just playing the avs they are playing against time with the altitude lol the closer the game stays while in colorado the more energy they expend and it showed ,trying to think if the jets even scored in the 3rd in the home games vs the avs in the reg season .
Manson got the assist on the first Avs goal, not Johnson. :) The Avs have a 2C again. And is name is Casey Middlestadt. He has been really good this series. Very impressed with him so far.
I agree. We didn't have a 2nd line center last year. Great to see him getting 1st star
He has been good ever since they acquired him. The other dudes are not great, although Trenin I like -besides the lack of points.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets super annoyed when they pronounce NiCHOOshkin wrong
The Avs have been strong in the 3rd period all year, especially at home. The mile high altitude does make a difference in my opinion.
This might rattle some Jets fan but I think the Jets need to sit Hellebuyck. Let’s say they don’t next game and they wind up losing again. If in game 4 he allows 4+ goals again and they lose, would you sit him for game 5 or would you rather him sit this next game and start game 5 recharged and at home?
Shannon, I feel you on the Nickoustin instead of Nichushkin Drives me crazy
I thought I heard Nituskin once or twice as well...
@@drewmcpheeters3424 They’ve definitely said “Nitooskin” a couple times.
Right? His name is pronounced exactly how it's spelled, too
@@drewmcpheeters3424 Nichewskin is another good one
I also wanted to chime in on the mispronunciation of players names…. There is an official memo by the NHL every year that has every players name and correct pronunciation. I keep it handy in case I forget how to pronounce Necas’s name when watching a Canes game. I feel like the announcers that do not bother to properly pronounce a guys name is either lazy, too busy to look up the rosters of the game they’re calling, or are doing it on purpose. It drives me nuts when I hear someone’s name butchered. Might have something to do with my dad drilling into my young thick skull that a man’s name is something to always respect.
NichuSKIN, NICKushkin, Nichushkin....guy has 7 different names out there🙄
I'm pretty sure Doc Emrick wrote a book on the correct pronunciation of players'names.
As a Canes fan hearing them continuously pronounce Kotkaniemi as Cock-N-Yemmy is like nails on a chalkboard
It's ABC/ESPN/TNT laziness along with ESPN needs to be renamed as Eastern Sports Homer Network because it is so obvious they really only pay attention to the Eastern conference. Yes, they look at the Western conference some but only because they are required to.
@@jesbrew the one reg season game when annunen came in the guy kept putting a T in his name antunnen like dude smh go from straight up butchering to u cant read
Wondering when the altitude will catch up with Winnipeg?
8:49 😂 as I was corrected Shannon doesn’t say “Megabot vibes there” but “Ichabod Crane” 😂😂😂😂
He said "Ichabod Crane", not megabot. Headless horseman.
@@Cresso5 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 my old age is making me hear whatever 🤣🤣🤣 omg, I thought megabot was an accurate description anyways 🤣🤣🤣
This game was not close, Hockey Guy. The Winnipeg Jets got a licking from the Colorado Avalanche. It was a blowout. From just watching both teams skate and their passing, I think this series will go 5 games with the Avalanche winning. I just don't see the Jets winning more games. The Avalanche team is much faster, they are pros in cycling the puck and the clog up the neutral zone, making it difficult for pucks to get through and for more Jet chances on Georgiev.
I don't see what people see with the Jets; outside of an all time bad goalie performance and some horrid defensive lapses in game 1, Colorado is so obviously the better team. If Colorado isn't shooting themselves in the foot and for all of Hellybuck's regular season stats, if he never actually gets around to stealing some games, it doens't seem like there's any way Winnipeg can win the series. The xG I'm seeing is 5.29 to 2.16 (more than a 3 xG discrepancy in a game is truly impressive), 4.03 to 2.75 and 4.5 to 3.65... all in Colorado's favor and Colorado is averaging nearly 14 more shots/game. You don't have much chance of winning the series when the chances are so lopsided.
The Avs have scored 5+ goals each game so far and outside of game 1 the jets have not kept up. Any way things can turn around for the jets?
The Jets only won the first game because Georgiev's SV% was below .700, and he gave up 7 goals on only 9 high-danger chances. Even if he had a middling .850 SV% performance, the Avs win game 1 convincingly.
Unlikely but yes. They need to play the defensive game that they played most of the regular season, they’ve been far too passive, bad coverage, and very little forechecking.
@@ConnorLogan51Or...stay with me here...the Avs just figured them out.
No fucking chance
@@Lukewipf442 The Avs are notorious for taking the entire first period off in early start games. This series could easily be 2-2 after tomorrow.
That first round pick for the habs is lookin good now 😂
There's one Denver media member that pronounces it that way as well but I found the 21-22 NHL Pronunciation Guide on the NHL website that confirms that it's correct. Pronounced nih-KOOSH-kihn, val-AIR-ee.
I know the russian pronunciation is nih-koosh-kihn but the english one is nih-choosh-kin I'm pretty sure. I think it's just one of the quirks of language
Dylan got his hand skated ⛸️ on at the end. Not good. Great review...GO AVS!!!!
Avs lookong lethal!!!!
I'm tired of watching the Jets shit themselves in the playoffs
Same. Ugh.
Well, you can always become a Leafs fan. 🤓
Harry Dunne or Paul Finch?
Series far from over but all those “Jets in 4 or 5” folks that were gloating about how Winnipeg dominated the Avs in the regular season overlooked one incredibly key point. This ain’t the regular season and the Avs are one of the most battle tested playoff teams in the league with a core of elite players still in their prime. Doesn’t always guarantee success but also can’t be overlooked.
It just seems to me the true fans have stuck with Georgi. What I mean by that is the comments have been rough online but the fans actually attending the games are ready to chant his name at any given moment. He was even getting some chants in those late season home loses.
Yea I can understand being critical of a goalie's performance but people need to understand that at the end of the day, he is who we have, it just makes more sense to believe in him than endlessly hate on him. I'll be at the game Sunday, will be standing by Georgie regardless of outcome.
Soooorrryyy. Lol. What was Hellybucks goals against all year? Love it!!!❤
Go avs go !! You can’t hold are scoring down for long. Avs still almost caught the jets when they had 7 in game 1 this proves a good offensive unit beats a good defensive team.
Curious what’s going to happen with Dillon’s hand at the end there
It would be funny if the sportnet guy called him "Choo Choo Train" instead of misspronouncing his last name every time.
Altitude guys call him the Big Val-bowski
People blaming Hellebuyck don’t really know what they’re talking about. His numbers don’t look great, but the Jets defence has been porous at best, and their pk has been completely awful. Helle is the best goalie in hockey, but he’s not a god, he can only do so much.
Every shot is a defensive breakdown. In the playoffs, you just need the saves. Through 3 games, you can't tell me Hellebuyck has been up to par. He may be the best goalie in hockey rn, he's struggling, period.
@@starkiller34 he’s certainly not as good as he was in the regular season, no question. But he’s getting hung out to dry constantly through these first 3 games. He’s the only reason the Jets haven’t been out of the game by the third period in the last 2
I would like to see the Avs win it in 5 but I’m still going with my bracket pick of Avs in 6. Im debating on if I go to Denver for Game 4 or Winnipeg for Game 5 I just hope the Avs win whichever game I go to.

I'm worried. That was an ugly 3rd period, many careless penalties taken that you can't do in the playoffs. I don't know how we bounce back and win game 4. I highly suggest we start LB, and give Hellebuyck a chance to rest and reset. He hasn't been doing well. Although game 3 is not really his fault.
