Vintage Wooden Toy Car - Restoration & Repair
I restored this upcycled toy car , made from an old wooden coffin plane and vintage Meccano parts. Enjoy the restoration video !!
This is a large coffin plane that was been upcycled to create this beautiful roadster car. All other parts are old Meccano parts (wheels, steering wheel, headlights, front bumpers, rear bumper). When I first saw this toy , I realized it needed to be restored because it would be a successful restoration project and because it will be a piece to be placed in my collection. But ended up donating it to a little boy. Anyway, a lot of time has been spent on this restoration video to create a nice video that you'll enjoy to watch. I'm really pleased with the results, the restoration gone perfect and I'm happy. Probably this piece is unique in the world because it is handmade, I would have liked to know more about the time when it was created, the age of the parts from which it was built.
I spent almost 4 weeks in this restoration and I spent almost 35 euros in the products that made this restoration to be perfect.
I like to make restoration projects, it's my passion and I'm open to hear your opinions in the comment section. Feel free to write what you think.
So, guys, thanks for watching and hope you'll enjoyed the restoration! ahhhh, and don't forget to subscribe !! Cheers !!

Glad to hear that and glad you liked it. Thanks 🙏
Best restoration channel ive seen the most i can restore is my pencils🤣
I love your channel! Especially the fact that you don’t put ‘aSmR’ in all your titles... all these restoration channels just being ruined with 4 letters... like- We get it! There’s no speaking in your video! You already have you KZhead account as ‘aSmR restoration’ or whatever! I have very strong feelings on aSmR!
The toy brought joy and so did this video! Great work! RB3
My Father sold you this a year ago, Incredible being able to see it travelled and again worked on another side of the globe. Good job!
True. I bought this from Nick Hollinshead. From 🇬🇧.. glad you liked what I did. Thanks 😊
Nice, that's awesome
😇
@@CoolAgainRestoration you are the best
That's actually pretty frickin cool. KZhead has this inherent ability to either make the world seem gargantuan and almost endless. Orrr, it can make this planet seem like an itty-bitty, teenie-weenie spec that houses around eight billion humans, and they all live on your street.
Amazing idea to use an old planer. Thanks to your precise renovation, he has returned to the days of his glory. Thanks friend :) Radek
This is so cool!!! You aren’t restoring a name brand toy, you are restoring someone’s custom made toy!!!
Yes,and I’m glad I did it 😎👍🏻
It looks great. It is interesting to see the different methods you used to restore all the different parts. Parabéns! Cheers from Brazil
Thanks 🙏 cheers to Brazil 🇧🇷

The presentation to a child right at the end, clean ending.
Glad you liked it 😇
Thanks for doing my car request! Looks like you’re gonna start slow and easy, so I hope you’ll work on bigger items soon!
I think to make a big car restoration someday 😎
Incredible restoration. I’m a 63 year old retired diesel mechanic and I had no idea wood could be sandblasted. Thanks.
I recognize most of those parts as "Meccano" that I had long ago. In the US I think it was called Erector Set. Definitely a 1-off toy.
Thank you very much Frank 😎👍🏻
@@CoolAgainRestoration Yeah all the metal parts are Meccano from the early 1960s or even earlier and you probably know the wooden body is an old hand plane the wedge would have held the blade The fenders and flat pieces would have been green originally
@@hodaka1000 Glad you confirmed the body was a wooden hand plane, that was what I thought as you were doing the disassembly.
How clever that someone turned a plane into a car! I loved Meccano as a kid - it was good to see this restoration. :)
Thank you very much 🤗
It wasn't until you tapped out the center when I realized what sort of plane you were talking about. Somebody's dad or grandpa was amazingly handy!~

Where you able to give life to the snails again? Great restoration like always!
Thanks Miguel 👍🏻😎
Cool! Congratulations, your channel is getting people even from other countries like Brazil! Brazilian speaking haha
Thanks Felipeano 😎👍🏻 greetings to Brazil 🇧🇷

That is one of the best home built toys I have ever seen. Thank You for saving it and posting.
Glad you liked it Robert 😊
A real gem of a restoration and truly a magnificent gesture for that little guy....very nice work all around.
Thank you very much 🤗
Thank you for making another satisfying content.
Glad you liked it 😎👍🏻
@@CoolAgainRestoration 😄👌
Great job on this one, it looks really good! I'm always fascinated watching these transformations, but I'm always curious how much time these videos take. You make it look like it's done in a matter of a few hours, but I've done really minor sanding in the past and that ALONE took hours. That'd be my only suggestion on what these videos need, and that's really minor because they are all really good.
Thanks Tyler. So,the restoration I worked one full week to say,but to make the video restoration took me 4 weeks. Every footage need to be calculated
Unbelievable! A job that deserves respect! Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I was especially surprised by the way to quickly make wooden plugs.
Thanks a lot my friend ! 🍻🍻🍻
*Great result.* Glad I went back to watch some of your older videos.
Thanks and glad you came back to see them . Now you can see how I improved from when I started and now . Thanks for that Dan 😊
11:38 Fastener salad with a nice mineral oil vinaigrette, yum
I'm a new sub and digging the videos. I spied with my little eyes, that the plugs put into the body weren't the same plugs you made.
I thought someone will say that. It’s the same ones but looks different because when I took out I sanded a little bit and when I changed the angle camera,I reset the white balance and has a lot of pink colour in all that footages.
That was great. It was nice to see a unique, homemade toy -- both made and then restored with love and care.
Glad you liked it William 🤗
Another legendary restoration.. That kid's tummy is cute 😊
Thank you very much Markuz 👍🏻😊
Love your colour choices on all the restorations, this one was particularly nice.
Thanks Lawrence 👍🏻👍🏻
Looking at the before and after, what song is going through my mind? "Oh, you, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, we love you..." 🎶🎵

And to think that the persons that originally made this toy are likely long gone. I am sure you made them smile along with the child that received the finished product. Beautifully done.
Thanks again 😇
What a lovely toy! Someone took their time to make that with what they had at hand probably. That is really impressive.
It is! And glad you liked it 👍🏻😎
So cool, we don't spend money on toys for children 😅😜❤️
First lilke 😊
Good job
Thanks 😊
It’s nice to see history being restored. I would love to do what you do
HOLY COW! VERY OLD! GORGEOUS NOW!
“I am not satisfied with the results” So you turn to some mysterious white powder that you most likely found in a brown paper bag? Meh! It worked didn’t it?
😅😅 true
The ingenuity of this toy is mind blowing - the transformation is so enjoyable and you are right this toy will bring much joy for years to come.
Thanks buddy
It is a joy to watch you restore these wonderful old things from the past. You are so caring and tender with the parts.
Glad you liked it Carrie 🤗
I love this restoration. What a great find. I've never seen anything like it!
Thanks mate 👍🏻
Parabéns! Ficou incrível!
Great work with perfect precision.
Thank you very much 😎👍🏻
I love this restoration! I'm no expert but it looks to be from the twenties or thirties. I can only imagine the story behind this handmaid toy. And you can tell a lot of thought and love was put into it when the maker created it. Thank you for restoring this and giving joy to another child
Thanks 😊
Now that was so Cool. I don't believe I've ever seen a wooden to like that. Closes I've been to a Wooden Car similar to this is the Wooden race Cars that The Scouts have to carve and sand too get it to be aero dynamic along with making it light enough to fly down the track. Thank you for sharing your Wonderful Passion. I Loved ❤️ ❤️ this Video.
Thanks a lot and glad you liked it 😊
Very well done! I'm always mesmerized by drilling where the drill itself is stationary and the substrate spins.
Thanks Michael 🤗
I noticed the Mecanno parts (my elder brother had a set) and also the headlights, these look like the sink plug in my grandmother's bath room. Very nice job.
Thank you very much Maria 😊
Bro you're absolutely amazing. You even helped the snails too. Restoration community so far seems to be the best one.

i don't call that a (restoration)... i call it (love)... man u showed a lot of passion for that toy.... a lot of great for work... and taking care for every small detail... man u r a real artist... u desirve a million like. 👍
Thank you very much Robin, I really appreciate 🤗
I have this crazy idea. Sometimes I think that objects can become infused with feelings. Some might have a difficult past and carry a lot of unpleasantness... But in the case of a hand made toy which was kept for a long time I think it can go the other way. I feel like the love which went into making it (probably for a specific child) and the love invested in it by the child who owned it has not gone. It's only hidden and it takes a little care to let to let it shine brighter than before. When I watch videos like this, I feel like it's not such a crazy idea. also thanks for treating the snails well, you are an amazing person
Thank you very much Patrick 🤗😎👍🏻🍻 stay safe and be well
First class job....TOP. Such a nice idea with that plane...love it.

The fairy tale of the old plane. Once upon a time there was an old plane that had been used with respect for years. When the planer was old and worn, it was lovingly converted into a toy car. For many years the car was played with but eventually ended up in a forgotten corner. Then the toy was found by 'Cool Again Restoration', who recognizes and appreciates character. He restored the car so that it shone like new and to spoil us subscribers, he filmed everything as professionally and passionately as he restored the toy. He gave the plane-car to a child and with all his work he brought a smile to a boy and thousands of viewers on KZhead.
😅😅 I just laugh reading this story. Thank you very Roland. I really appreciate 🥰🤗👍🏻

A praise and a query. Beautiful work on an old hand made toy. To have been able to know the origin and the maker would make for an excellent backstory. As usual, you work your magic and talent to bring new life to an old piece of history. Thanks again for sharing this with us. What kind of substrate was used to clean the small stuff? It looked like bicarbonate. Thanks for your time.
