Sanele Nohamba is a South African professional rugby union player for the Lions in United Rugby Championship and the Currie Cup. His regular positions are scrum-half and fly-half.

  • Reminds me of Aaron Smith. Quick accurate pass + excellent and creative game management. Weakness maybe defense in a tight game but the fact that he can kick for goal and play 10 counts for him in terms of making it for the Springboks. He should be a great asset with long term tactical leadership on the field.

  • Slippery little bugger and very likable if he's in your team, won't be surprised if Rassie has his eye on him but I guess it's all about battle stats in SA. Makes me wonder about all this talk of making rugby a more running flowing game and that the Boks are foreward dominated and then you watch the speedsters SA produces, 1 on 1 they're a menace.... Have to take your hat off to these quick little okes and Nohamba is a very small guy, he's literally a foot shorter and 50kg lighter than some of the opposition trying to tackle him, not easy!

  • I read somewhere that his defending is, not necessarily bad, but nonexistent. As in, he makes a ridiculously low number of tackles. Gonna be a tough sell for the Bok selectors.

  • Or 9 with Libbok at 10. The opposition will have to watch the inside channels. I'd actually be very happy to see him at 9 with all of Reinach, De Klerk, Jantjies and Williams being near the end portion of stellar careers. Not that you'd say Reinach and Williams are "old men" (relative to rugby players in general of course) given their pace.

  • He is very sharp indeed. But weak defense creates easy opportunities.probably a good option for 9 off the bench who can cover fly half, and wing maybe. I wouldn’t call him the “boks next flyhalf”

  • Don't know man, i really like the guy, was disappointed the Sharks let him go but i doubt he'll be a springbok 10. Handre got 2 more world cups in him and other viable candidates will emerge with time. I'm not sure the Emirates Lion is a great place for long term tactical leadership and game management, i pray he moves to Stormers or the Bulls: John Dobson or Jake White will do a stellar job with him.

    • @@binjaman1 Reinach is 34 Im pretty sure he is happy to step away from International rugby with 2 World cups and FaF is 32 so what maybe 1-2 more years? Williams and Henrikse will fight for No1 and we need a 3rd option (Nohamba/Papier ect)

  • Where are some clips of him defending. He won't have the time and space like the clips that have been shown here at an international level. He's no where near being a #10 for the Springboks. His time may come later down the line, but not at the expense of Handre Pollard and Manie Libbok. Libbok is the future in the #10 jersey for South Africa, it's that simple.
